Yota’s approach to setting tariffs for its services differs from that of the Big Three. But, more often than not, their unlimited Internet has limitations on the amount of traffic. After which either access to the World Wide Web is completely blocked, or the speed drops to the minimum.

Yota tariff for smartphones

Tariff for smartphone

If the selected package of minutes ends ahead of schedule, then users of this mobile operator can buy the package 100 minutes  . It costs 150 rubles .

If you do not buy the package, then calls beyond the package that was presented by the tariff, to any phone numbers in Russia will be charged at 1.9 rubles   behind 1 minute .

As for the Internet, in the tariff for a smartphone traffic is not charged. You can use 3G or 4G (if the network capacity of your region is supported) the Internet as much as you like. But, there are some limitations:

  • A SIM card with this tariff cannot be used on a mobile router or tablet. In this case, the speed drops to 64 kbps .
  • You can’t use this tariff on a device creating a Wi-Fi access point. In this case, the speed is reduced to 128 kbps  . But, if you pay extra, then you can remove this restriction for two hours or a day.
  • When applying this tariff for using file-sharing networks, the speed is also limited.

After the tariff expires (after 30 days) without renewal, access to the World Wide Web is suspended.

On the Yota tariff for a smartphone, you can connect the option of unlimited SMS / MMS for 50 rubles . If this is not done, then each outgoing SMS / MMS will cost 1.9 rubles.

The tariff of this operator for the tablet

Federal operator Yota provides one tariff for tablets. It can be connected for 1 day, month, or immediately for a year.

How to buy and receive a SIM card

Currently, packages are sold in pre-order mode. To get a SIM card, you need to download the Yota application and leave a request in it. After the application is processed, you need to choose the method of card delivery: pickup from the office of the company, or delivery by courier. In order for the courier to give the SIM card, you need to show him the passport and pay 500 rubles - this money is credited to the account.

Using the application available for Android and iOS, Yota subscribers can monitor their balance and independently manage the tariff (add minutes of conversations with other operators, connect unlimited SMS packages).

You can choose the tariff yourself - depending on what functions of the SIM card are most important to the user. The basic cost of unlimited Internet at a speed of 11– 15 MB / s  for a smartphone plus unlimited calls to Yota subscribers numbers is 300 rubles per month. Next, the user chooses how many minutes per month he spends talking with other operators (the cost varies from 1 rub./min to 1.4 rub./min), and can optionally connect unlimited SMS for 50 rubles per month.

There is no additional charge for roaming within the Yota network in Russia.


How it works: user reviews

In general, the tariff turned out to be even a little more expensive than my current Beeline tariff, but the lack of 4G makes this overpayment void. So I do not plan to use a SIM card until I agree on LTE with Apple. When they agree - maybe I'll try again.

Before Yota, I used Beeline. The new operator liked the speed of mobile Internet, although I do not have 4G devices. Most of all problems arose with linking the phone number to the Facebook profile. To verify the number, you need to send F to a short number: SMS was not sent. There is an option with requesting and receiving a code on the phone, I tried it - SMS with a code did not come.

I decided to switch to Yota simply because it is possible to change operators without changing numbers, and compare quality. Plus, I do not agree with the Beeline pricing policy, which restricts mobile Internet. I liked the idea of \u200b\u200bYota with unlimited internet and a fixed monthly payment. But so far there are more problems than advantages. For example, I stopped receiving SMS notifications on operations with a bank card. I called the bank, the problem is on the operator’s side. This is an important point and a big inconvenience.

All contacts with the support service through the built-in Yota messenger in the application: on the one hand, plus that you don’t have to hang on the phone and wait for the operator. On the other hand, the messenger works very unstable, it happens that you write a long message, and it is stupidly deleted when sending, you have to write again. The application itself may also be unavailable due to lack of access to the network (this is despite the fact that I should get this access from this operator). The speed of 3G and Edge, so far nothing outstanding. Perhaps with LTE and 4G things are better. While using it, I plan to replace the iPhone with a new one, and then we'll see. It turned out that changing the operator is not at all difficult and not long.

What devices does 4G not work on?

Yota 4G works on all devices except the iPhone (LTE on iPad works). Apple is currently testing the Yota LTE network. Once the tests are over, Yota customers will be able to use 4G Internet on those iPhone models that support LTE. On iPad, LTE is working now.

Is it true that MTS blocked your application?

Our support team receives numerous complaints from users who cannot send a request for a SIM card due to the incorrect operation of our application on the MTS mobile Internet. When switching to wi-fi or mobile Internet of another operator, the problem is solved and the application works correctly.

Why doesn't linking Yota number to Facebook work?

Why did you decide to bring a new player to the mobile market, rather than modernize Megafon?

Working with various brands in narrow segments is a common practice and business strategy for working in saturated and highly competitive markets. The penetration of communication services in the Russian Federation is already about 170%.

The mobile operator Yota is aimed at advanced users who are used to constantly being online. The basic service for us is unlimited mobile Internet, voice services for us are VAS (Value Added Services, services that generate additional income).

We completely abandoned complex tariff plans and offer our customers to form a package of services themselves.

How is the manual organized in Yota, YotaPhone and Yota Sim?

YotaPhone is the development of Yota Devices, which currently has nothing to do with Yota. These are two different companies, with different shareholders and products.

New Yota tariffs for smartphones from July 25, 2017

More recently, the company has revised its views on the terms of use of mobile communications for smartphone users, and has proposed a new line of tariff offers, not completely departing from its concept - subscribers can still independently choose the conditions according to which they want to be served. At the same time, for customers who do not have the time or desire to independently select the appropriate TP, Yota also created the ability to choose any of the three standard packages. Interestingly, these three packages received both simple and quite original, due to their simplicity, names:

  • #the first;
  • #second;
  • #third;
  • in addition, an independent choice of conditions for the tariff plan used by subscribers is available as part of the proposal, called "Build your Yota."

And about all these innovations in more detail we will tell below.

Tariff # first on Yota

What can be understood from the name of this proposal is that it comes first in the list of fresh new products from the operator. And this means that it includes a minimum set of services and conditions. In general, everything you need to know about this tariff can be placed in the list below:

  • Quota for making calls to any numbers throughout the country, even in the case of trips to Russia: 200 free minutes;
  • Internet quota: 2 gigabytes of traffic at the maximum available speed (traffic for the social network in Vkontakte, as well as the Instagram service is not considered);
  • Calls to numbers within the Yota network: free of charge;
  • Outgoing calls to all phones within the connection area (in excess of the provided package): 2.50 rubles .;

Eugene.  They have been using this operator for several months. Connected it for both a smartphone and a tablet. And when I move to the house under construction now, I will also order a router with a Yota SIM card. I really like the quality of communication and the ability to track the number of minutes remaining for calls to other operators. The only drawback is the possibility of increasing the speed of the Internet only after the current tariff is over. Not very comfortable.
