The wifi on button on the laptop does not work. Why Wai Fay does not work on the phone: possible reasons. How to solve the problem of connecting to a wireless connection.

Wi-Fi technology is very widely used in modern life, because it allows you to easily and quickly solve the problem of connecting to the Internet without using ordinary wires. This is especially true in the case of using laptops, which can be used to access the Internet in any convenient place thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi adapter.

That is why the situation when Wi-Fi does not work on a laptop leads to significant inconveniences and even some problems. There are a lot of reasons why a portable computer may not work on Wi-Fi. The most serious of them can be solved independently without the help of specialists, it is simply unrealistic, but there are quite a lot of those that can be completely eliminated on their own. Consider them.

Problem in laptop or router?

A common problem that the laptop stopped connecting to the WiFi network is the problem not with the laptop itself, but with the settings of the router, which distributes the network. Thus, the laptop can be configured correctly, but Wi-Fi still does not turn on just because it has nothing to connect to.

To eliminate the possibility that this is exactly the problem, you should try to connect to the network from any other device that is equipped Wi-Fi adapter - from another laptop, smartphone, tablet and the like.

If Wi-Fi does not work from another gadget, then the problem lies in the Wi-Fi router distributing the Internet. If the connection is successful, the problem is in the laptop and before solving it you first need to determine why Wi-Fi stopped working.

Hardware wiring adapter

Based on such a diagnosis, it is possible to determine exactly what this problem It was the fault of the laptop. When it does not work wifi you can try to use several ways.

The first one is to check if the wireless adapter is enabled on the laptop. Almost all modern models have light indicators. work wifi module and for its hardware inclusion there are special key combinations.

Usually, a lit indicator indicates the module is turned on. If the indicator does not glow at all or shines red, it means that the Wi-Fi does not work because of the adapter wireless network. It must be enabled.

Most often, these indicators are located directly on the keyboard, side or front panel of the device. Sometimes they are located on the monitor case or near the touchpad.

To enable the module of such a network, press the Fn key combination and one of the F1-F12 system keys. The specific combination depends on the laptop manufacturer. Usually on the right key is the corresponding antenna icon. If it is not there, then to turn on Wi-Fi, you should try pressing the standard combination for a specific model:
 • Fn + F3 for Acer;
 • Fn + F2 for Asus, Dell or Gigabyte;
 • Fn + F5 on Fujitsu devices;
 • Fn + F12 on HP laptops.

After pressing the corresponding keys, we check whether the indicator of the operation of the wireless module is lit or whether it has stopped to turn red. After that, try again to connect to the network. If this does not help - go to the next step.

Software enable

When the Wi-Fi has stopped working and its hardware does not turn on positive results, it is also necessary to carry out its program activation, which is done directly from the operating system under which the laptop is running.

To programmatically enable WiFi, which stopped working, on Windows 7, 8, or 10, you need to perform the following sequence of actions:

1. On the notification panel that is located near the clock, select the icon of the status of network connections;

2. From the list that opens, select the item “Network Control Center and shared"Or" Network settings "depending on the version of the operating system;

3. The next step - "Changing the parameters of the adapter."

Among the list of all existing connections, you need to pay attention to the color of the Wireless Network Connection icon. If your WiFi is not working and the wireless adapter is disabled, the connection icon will not be highlighted. In this case, click on its icon right click mice from the opened context menu select the item "Enable". The color of the connection icon should change.

In this case, the wireless network adapter turns on, it remains to find the desired one in the list of available wireless networks and connect to it.

If after such actions Wi-Fi, which has stopped working, continues to remain idle, you need to proceed to the next method of solving the problem.

Driver installation and update

Quite often, the Wi-Fi wireless connection is not turned on due to the lack of a driver or in the case when it is very outdated. To determine availability installed driverIt is necessary to select the “Properties” item from the context menu of the “My Computer” icon, which is located on the desktop or in the “Start” menu. Then in the opened window from the menu on the left, the “Device Manager” command is selected.

In the new window that opens, with a list of connected devices, you need to find the name of the network wireless adapter laptop. Usually its name is “Wireless Network Adapter” or “Wireless Network Adapter” with which the manufacturer of the device must be specified: Realtek, Atheros, Qualcomm or something else.

Having found the necessary item and clicking on it with the right mouse button, “Properties” is selected from the context menu. In the window that opens with this, the item “Devices is working normally” should be present. But even if there is a mark about normal operation device, this is far from being a guarantee that the correct version of the driver is installed and that Wi-Fi turns on correctly. To check it, in the window with the properties of the wireless device, go to the tab “Driver” and pay attention to the items “Date of development” and “Supplier”.

In the event that the supplier is Microsoft or the development date of the program is several years behind the current one - go to the official website of the laptop manufacturer and download the latest official version of the driver.

The same should be done in the event that among the list of installed devices was not a wireless adapter.

If the wireless module is present in the list of devices, but is marked with a yellow exclamation mark, this means that the device is disconnected, as a result of which the network stopped working. In this case, opening the device properties window, you need to click the "Enable" button.

Another reason why a Wi-Fi has stopped working on a laptop may be an activated power saving mode, which interferes with the operation of a wireless connection. To disable it, do the following:
 1. Open the Control Panel;
 2. Select the "Power" icon;

 3. In the window that opens, select the “High Performance” or “Balanced” mode.

External signal obstacles

It is also worth noting that a broken wireless network can also be the result of more than just laptop problems. The signal of a wireless connection depends on some external factors that can weaken it. The ceiling, walls, floor and similar obstacles significantly degrade the signal quality of the access point and laptop.

As you know, the signal quality on a personal computer is displayed in the form of several marks - the more of them, the better the signal. If the level of the wireless connection is displayed in the form of 1 or 2 marks, then you can not try to use WiFi - in this case it will not work normally.

In this case, you need to move the router closer to your workplace, move the workplace closer to Wi-Fi router or buy a new, more powerful router.

Other causes of problems with the work of Wi-Fi

The above-described causes of problems with the operation of a wireless network adapter are most common and can be resolved on their own.

It is worth noting that all of this is a software solution to a problem that can be solved by installing, reinstalling, or updating the device driver, as well as performing some OS operations.

But often the problem with the operation of the wireless module is hidden in hardware errors. What are these mistakes? These are problems that are directly related to the board itself, most often - its physical damage.

To eliminate such problems will need to disassemble the laptop. It should be noted that it is possible to perform such actions only if there are certain skills in this area. If there are no such skills, it is better to entrust the work to professionals.

One of the most common physical damage is the unconnected antenna wire to the contactless communication module. Such a problem is encountered with laptops that were under repair or if their owner cleaned the cooling system from dust on his own. In such cases, the antenna is sometimes simply forgotten, with the result that the adapter will not be able to establish a connection even near the source itself. To eliminate such a problem, you just need to connect its antenna to the Wi-Fi module.

Sometimes the reason why Wi-Fi stops working is normal overheating. network card. Most often this is a result of the fact that the laptop is on one or another soft surface. The thing is that at the bottom of the device there are holes through which cold air enters, which cools all the boards of the computer. Blocking these holes, the system will overheat, which can lead to the failure of certain components.

Another common cause of overheating of the device is dust, which can prevent cold air from entering the cooling system.

That is why, in order not to face such problems, it is recommended to clean the laptop from dust at least once for one year: in this case, repair of the portable PC as a result of overheating of its components can be avoided.

In the most neglected cases, the wireless adapter may even burn out. In this case, only its replacement with a new one will help. Such a problem can be identified with the help of the device manager, in which the module simply ceases to be displayed. When trying to install a driver for a wireless network, a message appears stating that the corresponding device is not installed in the system.

If nothing helped

If none of the tips above helped, you can use a simple, but at the same time often effective solution: restart both the computer and the wireless router. Please note that after the reboot, the router turns on for up to 5-10 minutes before it starts distributing the network. Be patient. Also, despite the opinion of many skeptics, sometimes the problem of troubleshooting the wireless network is helped by the troubleshooting feature that exists in the Windows operating system.

Thus, most of the existing solutions to problems related to the fact that Wi-Fi stopped working on a laptop were listed above. Practically all such methods and recommendations can be used by anyone who has encountered a similar problem, since no special skills are needed for this.
If nothing helps, and the wireless network does not start working, it remains only one way out - to go for help to a quality service center, where they can solve any problems with a laptop.

If the article did not help solve your problem and Wi-Fi still does not work, write in the comments, I will try to help.

On computer forums you can find a lot of messages from users who are looking for the reason that wifi does not work on a laptop. Unable to solve the problem on their own, some find an easy way out - giving up wireless internetwhile remaining without a great tool for leisure, work.

Practice shows that the reasons why wifi does not work can be many, and the problem of troubleshooting is really relevant and requires detailed consideration. Diagnosis even by an experienced, professional master does not always help immediately determine the origin of this type of damage.

The main, frequently encountered sources of faults appear in connection with the introduction of certain changes in the functioning of the used gadgets. These include: reinstalling the operating system, replacing the router, recent firmware update — because of them you may be faced with the fact that wifi has stopped working.

In more detail it is worthwhile to dwell on common cases, with careful study of which, you can try to fix the problem yourself. The restoration of the Internet connection on its own depends on the desire, perseverance, and opportunities, which in combination will eliminate the need to seek outside help.

Wi-fi does not work - wrong drivers or their absence

On laptop wi-fi It may not connect due to the "flew" drivers, after a certain number of manipulations with the operating system, therefore, to restore normal operation, they are reinstalled. Official websites of manufacturers offer for free, to choose from, drivers for all models, and in a safe version for download.

If after installation new windows 10 wifi does not work, this indicates the need to reinstall the drivers, the lack of which prevents normal operation. Updating the OS (operating system) is often the reason for the lack of connection, so checking drivers is a necessary procedure.

To optimize your search, you can use the following sites most often found manufacturers:

 1. Lenovo - http://www.lenovo.com/ru/ru/ru/
 2. Acer - http://www.acer.ru/ac/ru/RU/RU/content/home
 3. HP - http://www8.hp.com/ru/ru/home.html
 4. Asus - http://www.asus.com/ru/

Wi-fi does not work - insufficient signal strength or viruses

The correctness of the parameters set does not guarantee the smooth functioning of the router, especially if after windows installation 10 wifi does not work, it is not always the OS or the laptop itself that is to blame. The culprit in the occurrence of a malfunction may be a weak signal of the Internet connection, or a signal that is almost absent in intensity.

Many modules detect the network, but are unable to connect to it due to weak signalwhich sometimes depends on the location of the router itself. The signal strength varies due to the presence of thick walls with insulation, massive finishing materials, sources of radio interference, structures containing metal elements.

This situation can be corrected by moving the router and installing it next to the router, if after that the Internet connection is made seamlessly, the location of the device changes.

Virus infection threatens system filesresponsible for the network that can be attacked by malwareIt often happens that even after reinstalling windows, wifi does not turn on. Installing special utilities will help to revise the OS for viruses, correctly remove them from the laptop, but after finishing its operation, it is necessary to reboot the device, reconfigure the wifi.

Wi-fi does not work - inoperable node or module.

The built-in wi-fi module adjusts the functionality of the computer’s connection to the Internet, which is often it is faulty. To determine its failure, it is recommended to contact specialized service centers for professional testing to determine the problem.

Self-opening of the computer, an attempt to affect the operation of the module, will face serious damage to fragile units or expensive computer parts, which will lead to more serious defects. If the built-in module cannot be repaired or replaced with an original copy, it can be replaced with an external device that works through the USB connector, this will save money, time to repair the damage.

Wi-fi does not work - a faulty network as the reason why the wifi does not work.

It is impossible to say that the laptop is often to blame for the lack of an Internet connection, sometimes it’s the network’s malfunction that doesn’t allow the computer to connect to it, because of this a situation is created in which wifi does not work. It's easy enough to check:

 • connection. Other gadgets are connected to the existing connection to help determine that the network or computer is not functioning;
 • . After restarting the router, the connection can be restored, and it will function in standard mode;
 • tuning. You can contact the provider that provides connection services to update specific settings.

Having tried the available methods, you can easily understand why wifi does not turn on, but if after all the activities you have done, access to the network is impossible, then you should involve specialists with work experience.

Wi-fi does not work - home "reanimation" on its own.

The last hope is always placed on the advice of experienced users who have tried all the available methods, but to no avail, and if you could not understand why wifi does not turn on on the laptop, you can try to reanimate it. Fast recovery With a wireless connection, it is possible after the following manipulations:

 1. Disable the router. The power supply is turned off from the mains, and is turned on again after 2-3 minutes;
 2. Reboot. Full OS reboot, via the Start button, in compliance with the procedure, closing active programs, applications, dialog boxes.

Often, this procedure, carried out after wifi stopped working, according to user feedback, leads to the restoration of the wireless connection and a normal internet connection.

Diagnostics of the wireless adapter allows you to determine why the wifi does not work on the laptop, provide recommendations on how to fix this situation, for example simple reset settings, then turn on the network.

With periodic disconnections of the Internet connection, it is imperative to check the symptoms of this phenomenon, find out what caused it, to quickly, effectively eliminate inoperability, which does not always require the intervention of service center workers.

In this article I tried to consider all possible ways because of which may not work Wi-fi. If these tips did not help you, you can ask questions in the comments and we will give you an answer soon.

When launching a laptop with windows 10 / windows 7 or a buggy windows 8, one day you may find that the wireless icon is gone - wifi. What to do then? How to fix?

Wi-Fi (Wireless) is the most widely used wireless connection between a laptop and the Internet.

Wireless wi-Fi connection is almost a monopolist in its industry and the universality of this decision is beyond doubt.

It minimizes compatibility problems and this technology is booming.

Unfortunately, the more users it uses, the more errors and malfunctions occur, one of them is no, or the icon disappears.

No wifi wireless icon

To connect to wireless wi-Fi networks You must have an appropriate receiver (for example, a network adapter) compatible with the transmitter (for example, a router).

When you start the laptop, you should be able to view the detected networks by clicking the wireless network icon. It happens that the icon is not displayed - gone. Why?

If you use mobile device, you must first find out if it is enabled in flight mode, which disables the ability to make a connection.

If, after starting the device in standard mode, the wireless network icon is still not displayed, check that the network card is running.

In laptops, it is launched using a special switch (on the case) and through a combination of function keys.

To do this, launch the device manager (Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Device Manager), select “ Network adapters", Open" Properties "and run the corresponding parameters.

Other solutions with missing wifi wireless icon

If the adapter is not visible in Device Manager or an operation error is displayed, you must use the troubleshooting tool provided by Windows 7 - windows10.

He finds and diagnoses problems and suggests the use of appropriate solutions.

To start it, open the section "...." And click on the "troubleshooting".

If your problem is not solved automatically, and the adapter is visible in the system, you must manually install latest versions drivers.

It is best to download them from the site of the manufacturer of the card or laptop - I do not recommend using programs.

If the network card in the system is not displayed, then it may be physically damaged. Then you can not do without the service.

Let's hope that this is not your case. Of course, the problem may be purely “personal to your laptop,” but it is solved individually. Successes.

The Wi-Fi network does not work on a laptop because:

 • Common causes (provider, power, distance)
 • Not working or not configured router
 • Problems with the WiFi module of the laptop
 • Not installed or bad network card drivers
 • Numerous nuances with setting up Wi-Fi under Windows

This is what we will deal with in this article. Most of the problems can be solved independently, and if you read it to the end, you can correct 99% of the reasons. There I also recorded a video where you can clearly see some points.

Who is to blame: a router or laptop?

In general, the source of the problem can be either a router or a laptop. The easiest way to find out is to connect to the Internet from another device, for example from a smartphone, tablet or another laptop. If you do not connect via wai-fayu (), then everything is clear - we will dig in the direction of the router. If it works on the phone, but not on the laptop - then the reason is in the laptop, but there may simply be inappropriate settings of the router.

Simple reasons

It would not be clear to everyone, but in practice it turns out that not everyone thinks about banal causes.

If suddenly stopped working because of the laptop

First and foremost, see if the Wi-Fi module is turned on. Many laptops have a special light with a wireless sign:

Accordingly, if the light does not light up or glows red, then look for a Wi-Fi module switch somewhere on the case:

It can be located on the front or side panel, but on modern devices it is just a key combination, for example:

For reference, from the standard combinations are known:

 • Acer: Fn + F3
 • Asus, Dell or Gigabyte: Fn + F2
 • Fujitsu: Fn + F5
 • HP: Fn + F12

Well, this is true, in general, since it depends on the model, just look for the same drawn icon on the keyboard.

From the simple it can still help restart Windows or.

If the Wi-Fi does not work because of the router

Check if the router is working. Maybe somewhere knocked out traffic jams or turned off the light and it stupidly does not work. Or the power supply unit has moved away from the outlet (to smoke :)), the cat has touched, it does not matter. If it does, then: turn it off, wait 10 seconds and turn it on again. After 2-3 minutes, when the router boots up, check if the WiFi on your computer / laptop is working.

If after a reboot it worked, but you have to do it several times a day, then you probably need to look for a new router. Less often, the reason is in the provider or its settings. It is better to first call and ask why this is happening, to name the model of the router. Maybe he will advise which of them will work best with their network.

Make sure your ISP service is extended. You can just call or try to go to personal Area on the supplier’s website. If this is the only problem, then their website will load. Of course it is necessary that this address be saved in bookmarks.

Wi-Fi will not work if you move far from the router. 10 meters is enough to start the problem. That if there are walls. And if not, then 15-20 meters can be decisive for most routers and laptops. The quality of the reception of the wireless network can be estimated by the icon near the watch:

The real reasons for idle WiFi on a laptop

WiFi does not want to work only on a laptop

We look at the network icon near the clock. If it is a red cross:

it means the Wi-Fi module is disabled. Click on the icon with the right button and select "Network and Sharing Center"

Find the connection "Wireless Network". It may be called differently, but the distinctive feature of the wireless network icon is the signal strength bars. Turn on the connection with the right button:

Wifi network not included

This may be that for some time the message “Obtaining an IP address” hangs and then the error “Windows could not connect to ...”. Probably not the correct way to obtain an IP address. We try the following:

Right click on the connection " Wireless -> IP version 4 (TCP / IPv4)»

If some numbers are written in the window, then it is better to rewrite them somewhere, suddenly they will be useful, and put everything on the machine:

Try reconnecting. Did not help? Then we register the following settings:

We try 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.1.2 into the IP address, and 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 as the main gateway, respectively, should work in one of the options.

No wireless network at all

Most likely, the Wi-Fi module driver is not installed. Need to . In Windows 10, just click the right button on the "Start" button and select "Device Manager". Here we are carefully looking for problem devices:

If you see a similar picture, i.e. many devices with exclamation marks, this means that you have recently reinstalled Windows and have not installed any drivers at all. So, not only will Wi-Fi not work for you, in general, half of everything will not forage.

You need to install all the drivers. If there is a driver disk from the seller, then insert it agree with everything that the master offers. If not, then you need to read the article, there at the end I automatically install the driver (the same for Windows 7/8/10).

If the picture is simpler, with exclamation marks only “Network controller” and / or “Ethernet controller”, then go to the website of the laptop manufacturer, section “ Support / Support -> Downloads -> Software and drivers, This is about, variations are possible. You need to find a model of your laptop, it is written in back cover. Next zalazim in the driver download section, choose your operating system and its bit depth ().

Among all the drivers you need to find something with the words "Wireless LAN"

Download and install. The most popular manufacturers of Wi-Fi chips: Broadcom, Intel, Realtek, Atheros. You may find drivers for several manufacturers for your laptop. Just in different revisions can put different chips. How to find out what you need? The easiest way is to try them one by one, but in general using the program you can see in the section “Network -> Network PCI / PnP”:

The screenshot shows that the Wireless (wireless) network card is Broadcom, and the cable (Ethernet) is Realtek.

For some Lenovo laptops

If you are a “happy” owner of one of Lenovo devices with a Broadcom network installed, then in Windows 8/10 you have serious problems with WiFi: the Internet works for a while, then the connection falls off, you have to reconnect and so all the time. Only one way out, but it is: install driver version 5.100.245.200 .

To change the driver go to the device manager, right click on Broadcom -> Update driver:

In the next window, remove the checkbox "Only compatible devices" and click "Install from disk"

Only at this step you need to specify the path to the folder with the unzipped file. Warnings that the driver does not fit, ignore, agree with everything. If after the done actions it only got worse, then just go into the properties of Broadcom in the task manager and do " Driver -> Rollback Driver ...»

What if the network card is not in the Device Manager

It may be that the network card is not even with an exclamation point in the list of devices. This means that the Wi-Fi module has jumped out of the connector or burned out. You can fix it if you slightly disassemble the laptop. Here you are already looking for recommendations on a specific laptop, I recommend on YouTube.

Everything works, but the list of networks is empty.

In this case, the switch about which I wrote at the very beginning of the article can be turned off. But it can also easily be that someone forgot to connect the antenna to the wifi module. Maybe when it was cleaned of dust, or something changed, in short, you need to disassemble and connect the antennas. Also try updating the driver to the latest one.

Disappears after resuming from sleep mode

In the device manager, go to the properties of the wireless adapter on the tab "Power Management" and remove the checkbox "Allow the device to turn off to save energy"

Incomprehensible glitches, does not connect to wi-fay

It is possible that the network settings on the router have changed, and the wai-fi profile created is old. You need to remove it and re-find the network. In Windows 10:

Go to the "Network Settings"

We click "Manage known networks"

To delete the profile "forget" the network

Then we connect to WiFi as the first time. For any windows versions This method also helps to delete a profile:

 1. In the search for the "Start" menu, enter "cmd", run it with the right button "Run as administrator"
 2. AT command line (in the black window) we write:

netsh wlan delete profile name = ”Profile name from network list”

We reset TCP / IP stack

The method can help if the websites open badly:

 1. In the command line we write:

netsh int ip reset C: \\ resetlog.log

 1. Reboot the laptop.

Disable TCP / IP auto configuration in Windows 10

Innovations in the desyatochku, designed to optimize the use of the network, in many cases leads to frequent failures of Wi-Fi. We try to disconnect and reboot. To do this, in the command line, enter the following commands in turn:

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel = disabled

netsh int tcp set global rss = enabled

After each command, you need to see confirmation of successful execution of “Ok”. Reboot, check if everything works as it should.

What to do if the Wi-Fi module has burned down or is constantly buggy

Sometimes nothing helps, even if you burst! In this case, the right decision is to buy. USB Wi-Fi module ("whistle").

Changing the built-in network is more difficult and expensive. USB "whistles" work fine, almost at the same speeds. And for the notorious Broadcom in Lenovo, even the cheapest Realtek RTL8188CU module for $ 4 works faster and more stable by 1.5-2 times!

Problems with the router

Here two options are possible:

There is a connection, but without internet access

This is when such a wifi icon:

This means that wifi is connected and working, but the network is only between the laptop and the router. Those. The router is not configured or does not have access to the Internet. Look at the front panel of the router, is the WAN light on / flashing? If not, then the problem with the cable from the provider, you need to call them. If the light is on, then you need to go to the admin panel of the router and set up Internet access under the provider. How to enter the admin panel is in.

At once I will make a reservation that all Internet providers have their own ways of organizing access. Ideally, you need to find a contract in which everything is spelled out. Well, or call the technical support service.

The bottom line is this: in the admin panel you need to go to the WAN section and make settings there from the list. On the example of the TP-Link router, it looks like this:

And since we are here, we will immediately solve the problems, when the sites do not open, but Skype works and the Wi-Fi icon shows that everything, like, works. Put a tick "Use These DNS Servers" and enter in the fields:

8.8.8.8

77.88.8.8

These are public DNS servers of Google and Yandex respectively. This must be done because the DNS servers of the providers often fail, as a result, the Internet is there, but browsers do not understand the names of the sites and do not see them.

Also, if the sites are very slow, the download is intermittent, then in the WAN sections, refer to the “MTU Size” parameter. If the connection type is “Dynamic IP” or “Static IP”, then the value should be 1500. For L2TP: 1460, PPPoE: 1420. If you have a network via a 3G modem, then install the MTU 1476. This is thin network settingand if the connection is not adjusted to stable job, then you need to call the provider and ask what MTU you need to use.

Another such situation could arise if you were previously connected by cable directly, and then put the router. Many connection providers record your MAC address when you first connect, so that no one but you can use your Internet. The computer and the router have their own unique MAC addresses. And it turns out that your router for the provider is alien.

It is necessary to assign the same mac to the router as the computer’s network card. To do this, we find the section “Network -> MAC Clone” in the admin panel and click the button “Clone MAC Address”, save, reboot.

Wi-Fi does not work, turns off

If everything worked, and then abruptly ceased, or everything is loaded for a very long time and with cliffs, then it is very likely that the radio channel that the router uses is blocked. You need to go to the admin panel in the “Wireless” settings section and see what the channel is worth:

Must be "Auto". If it does not help, then you can try to choose any numbers from the drop-down list. A couple of attempts will be enough to understand that this is not the case.

If it does not connect to Wi-Fi at all or writes “Status Restricted”, then in the same place you need to select the mixed mode “11bgn mixed”. Can be called differently, the key here is the letter "bgn". This means three standards for wifi networks. “B” is the oldest and slowest, “G” is up to 54 Mbit, “N” is the most popular for today. But I’ll have to go to the router from another device, because it’s not working from a laptop. Or just reset it by default.

Also a bad and slow connection may be due to the power scheme in Windows. With certain settings, the adapter can be spared. You need to change here:

If nothing helped

What else, sometimes it helps in the settings of the router to set the same time zone, which is installed in Windows:

The inclusion of the FIPS compatibility mode can also help. To enable go to " Network and Sharing Center -> Wireless Network -> Wireless Network Properties -> Security -> Advanced Settings»

And in the next window we enable the checkbox of the compatibility mode with the “FIPS” standard.

It does not hurt to disable your antivirus, especially DrWeb, which can block the network.

Before throwing the laptop out of the window, try using the Windows troubleshooting wizard that offers its services for every error. Strange, but they say that sometimes it helps

Watch the video on the article:

That's all, friends, success!

For many users, Internet access today has become just as necessary and important as the air for a scuba diver during a dive. Millions of people spend millions of hours in the giant digital web. In the past few years, access to the network using a wireless protocol that we know as WiFi has become the most popular and popular in the computer world.

This is really convenient: one access point provides the ability to access the Internet to a large number of users, while they are not connected to this point by wires, they can be located in different rooms or move freely within the network.

On the agenda today is the question that laptop users at various computer forums ask from time to time: "What should I do if on a laptop?" And if you read these lines, most likely, this question concerns you. Today we will look at recipes with the help of which you can solve this problem on your own without the help of specialists.

So, what to do if WiFi does not work on a laptop?

 1. If the problem caught you by surprise and there is a shortage of time (there is no time to understand - you need to work immediately) - try to use wire connection to the Internet if the access point (router or router) is within physical reach. Yes, annoying and nasty wires, yes, you need to look for and register them with pens ... But this will allow you to complete the work on time and only then, with free time, search for and eliminate the reason why WiFi does not work on the laptop.
 2. No matter how strange and stupid it sounds - check whether the WiFi module is really turned on on your laptop. Sometimes, for unknown reasons, it can turn itself off without your intervention. And if there is no special indicator on your machine that indicates the WiFi module is turned on - it is likely that this module should be simply turned on. Find the mechanical power button on the case of the laptop or use the key combination to turn on WiFi (for more information, see the manual for your laptop). Check whether it is enabled or not in the "All connections" tab.
 3. If the module is turned on and does not work, to resolve the issue, you need to make sure that the device is in the system and is working normally. Go to the device manager and check the availability of equipment. Alternatively, you can update the device driver. This can be done using the supplied driver disk or go to the manufacturer's website, download the latest driver. Remove old and install new driver for the WiFi module.
 4. The next step is to test the access point and the Internet. Make sure that the problem is in the laptop. To do this, try to access the Internet using another device (tablet, smartphone, netbook) using your access point. In addition, make a call to your Internet service provider (service provider) or system administrator, if it is a service laptop and in the office. Perhaps with the equipment of the laptop everything is in order, and the problems - from the service provider.
 5. As an option - try using a known working access point (McDonalds, neighbor, nearest cafe with Free WiFi). This will help clarify exactly what the problem is - the hardware of the laptop or the access point / service provider.
 6. Very rarely, WiFi does not work on a laptop because of the malfunction of the module itself. In this case, you should contact the service center. There they can diagnose the exact cause and repair or replace faulty equipment.

Another reason for not turning on WiFi on a laptop is the breakdown of other equipment on it (not a WiFi module). In this case, the intervention of a specialist is also required.

As practice shows, the answer to the question of why WiFi does not work on a laptop lies on the surface. Use our recommendations, and you will probably be able to solve the problem yourself.
