Recovery recovery partition. Hetman Partition Recovery - data recovery. Viewing recovered data and saving it

A step-by-step wizard makes it easier for the user to recover data. All the complexity and technical details of the method for recovering data from a hard drive remains inside and does not concern the user. It will not be difficult for you, following the instructions of the wizard, to find, restore and save important information from the disk

Step 1: Choosing a drive for data recovery

You must specify the logical drive from which the data was deleted. Choose a physical storage medium or use "Search for sections" provided that data from the disk was lost as a result of deletion, creation of new logical partitions or formatting of the disk.

Virtual image

In order to protect yourself from unintentional overwriting of deleted files, and to restore data to the same disk, you need to create a virtual copy of the disk and restore data from the created virtual image.

Create an image

In the main menu of the program, find the "File" item and select the item "Create virtual disk"... In the dialog box that opens, you will need to choose either to create an image of the entire media as a whole, or specify the starting sector and size of the disk, depending on how much data you want to recover. To save disk space, the program can compress data on the disk. You should enter the name of the file with the future image and click on the "Save" button.

Using the image

To add a saved image to the folder tree, you need to select the "Service" item of the main menu, and then the item "Mount disk"... Next, specify the full path to the file with the saved image. After you see that the utility has added the image to the folder tree, you can start working with it, namely, to analyze and search for deleted information. Also you have the opportunity to use it on a laptop or any other computer.

Recovering deleted partitions

The utility finds logical drives that have been deleted, and makes it possible to continue searching for files deleted from them and recovering the necessary data. This allows you to significantly save time on hard disk analysis. To search for partitions, select the device in the folder tree and select the "File" - "Find disks" item in the main menu. Next, you need to specify the file system type of the partition to search for, as well as its estimated location on the device. We recommend that you analyze the entire disk and search for all possible file systems. If no search parameters are specified, the program will launch a quick search for sections by default. In order to find more partitions, you will need to run a full analysis of the device at the end of the disk analysis. All sections that are found as a result of the search will be added to the directory tree and will be available for the next scans.

Step 2: Choosing a disk recovery method

To recover data that has been deleted, you must select a recovery method. The program supports two different ways to analyze data for recovery. Each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages. Let's take a closer look at these methods.

Fast scan

Way "Quick Scan" speaks for itself. Its advantage is that it can be used to analyze a disk in a matter of seconds. This method is applicable to search for files that have been deleted using the Shift + Delete keyboard shortcut, and also if the Windows Recycle Bin has been emptied. The second method - "Full analysis" takes much more time. The larger the disk capacity, the longer the Full Analysis will take. However, it is recommended to use the "Full analysis" method if the data was not deleted using the methods indicated above.

Complete analysis

"Full analysis" - this method uses all possible algorithms for finding lost data, embedded in the program, and makes it possible to recover data that has been deleted in a variety of ways. This method can be used to recover files from damaged disks, data lost as a result of formatting, information lost as a result of creating new logical partitions and any other reason.

Step 3: Finishing the recovery process

The program starts searching for lost files. The data recovery process takes some time. The utility calculates the time until the end of the recovery process and indicates the number of disks, files and folders found. It is required to wait until the end of the analysis of the lost data and click on the "Finish" button.

Analysis process

The program will display all found files and folders on the disk as a result of the search. The files will appear in the same folders in which they were located before they were deleted. The data will be displayed in the same way as in Windows Explorer. Objects that have been deleted will be marked with a red cross. All available types of information display, namely: large and regular icons, page thumbnails, table, list, tile, are supported by the program. The recovered files can be sorted by name, size, creation date or editing date, as well as by file type. After the end of the analysis, the user can repeat the search for files by name, size, date of creation or modification of files.

$ Deleted and Found folder and $ Deep analysis folder

As a result of the end of the procedure, two sections are created: section "$ Removed and Found"which contains files and folders with undefined location and section "$ Deep Analysis", which will contain files that match certain search criteria. A few words about this criterion. The utility searches for deleted files not only from file tables, but also searches for files by their contents. As a result of a comprehensive analysis of the contents of the disk, the program finds the signatures responsible for the beginning and end of the file (for example, the beginning of the file with the PSD extension will be a combination of bytes "8B PS"). To folder "$ Deep Analysis" all files found in this way are included. If you did not find files in their original location, it is recommended to check the section "$ Removed and Found".

Preview

The program interface displays the files found for recovery in the same form as you are used to seeing them in the Windows Explorer program. The user sees them in the same folders in which they were located before they were deleted. Using the utility, viewing the contents of the files, you can select and save only the data that you need for recovery.

View file contents

For the final decision on data recovery, you can view the contents of the file before recovery. The program supports displaying data in various formats. You can view the contents of compressed archives, text format, spreadsheets and images, video and audio, and even executable files. In total, the program supports viewing over 200 different formats. The fact that you were able to view the contents of the file in the preview guarantees data recovery after registering the program.

Selecting files to save

The stage of saving recovered files requires careful attention. If you save files that have been deleted from the same folder, you should go to this folder, select the necessary files from the general list of files and then go to the main menu "File" - "Recover". If you save files from different folders, you should drag and drop all the data that you are going to restore with the mouse to "Recovery basket". Recovery Basket located in the lower right corner of the program. And for the final recovery of data, you should use the "Recover" button located in the Trash.

Step 4: Saving data recovered from the hard drive

The recovered files can be saved in any way convenient for you. The program provides the ability to save data to a folder on your hard disk, burn it to CD or DVD media, and you can also upload the saved data to an FTP server or create an ISO image of the data.

Saving recovered data to hard drive

To save the recovered files to the hard drive, you must specify the folder on the drive where you are going to save the data. If you want to leave the current folder structure unchanged and save the recovered data in the folders in which they were previously located, you should enable the corresponding switches. The program also allows you to perform ADS saving (from the English. Alternate Data Streams) and replace those characters that were lost in the file name when it was deleted. Usually, when a file is deleted, the first letter in the file name is destroyed, but there are times when more characters in the name are lost.

Burning CD or DVD

If you decide to save the recovered data by burning it to CD or DVD media, then in this case the program provides a convenient interface for this procedure. You will be able to choose the disk label, speed and file system for recording the recovered data. Next, you will need to select the drive through which the recording will be carried out, as well as specify the parameters that are necessary for recording, or agree with the parameters offered by the program by default. Then click "Next". The program has support for multisession disc recording. You can keep files in the same folders from which they were deleted by selecting the option "Restore folder structure"... If this option is not selected, then all files will be saved in one directory.

Creating an ISO image with files

If you decided to save the recovered data using a virtual ISO image, then you will need to specify the full name of the image file, disk label and disk file system. To preserve the folder structure and replace unknown characters in the names of the data being recovered, you will need to select the appropriate menu items responsible for these options. Before completing the creation of the image, the program allows you to view the folders and files selected for saving again, and, if necessary, make changes to the file names. To complete the creation of the ISO image, click on the "Create" button.

It is also possible to save the recovered data to a remote FTP server using Hetman Partition Recovery. This can be done using the FTP protocol. You can leave the original directory tree structure unchanged. You will need to specify the address, FTP server port, username, password and remote directory. Both passive file upload mode and work through a proxy server are supported. In order not to enter the password every time, you can remember it. The password will be stored in clear text in the settings file. At this stage, you can view the files and folders selected for saving and, if necessary, make changes to the file names. To complete uploading files to the FTP server, click the "Create" button.

Hetman Partition Recovery Review | Introduction

Losing data is not difficult at all, and there can be many reasons - from hardware failure to virus or accidental activity. Those who lost their data on the disk are first greeted by the phrase "should have": it was necessary to install an antivirus or update its databases, isolate the computer from playful / crooked hands, make a backup and store it on a flash drive or in the cloud. But, if such a nuisance has already happened, there are computer services that restore data for a fee, and special utilities with which you can try to restore what was lost on your own.

Editors tested the app Hetman Partition Recovery 2.2... The program allows you to recover files of any type (text documents and spreadsheets, presentations, images, audio recordings, videos, files compressed into archives, vector graphics, CAD drawings, etc.) from almost any source - external media or built-in hard drive.

Let's consider these two areas separately to talk about the "pitfalls". The first case is built-in storage. Hetman Partition Recovery can recover data from a standard hard drive or solid-state drive connected using a SATA interface or any other (SAS, PATA, SCSI, etc.).

The application works with FAT and NTFS file systems. Hetman Partition Recovery allows you to recover not only deleted data, but also lost after formatting or deleting the entire logical partition.

It is important to note that Hetman Partition Recovery intended only for computers running systems of the Microsoft Windows family (XP or later, including the not yet released Windows 10). Work on other operating systems is not expected both from the point of view of the compatibility of the distribution kit, and in terms of support for file systems. That is, this application cannot be used under MacOS X, Linux, and other alternative operating systems.

The second option is external media and storage devices. It can be a USB flash drive, external HDD or memory card of any of the common standards (SD, microSD, SDHC, Compact Flash, Memory Stick) with the FAT or NTFS file system.

In addition, as the developer notes, the program can work with "any other device connected to the computer by USB cable." Here, obviously, a reservation should be made that the device should be recognized exactly as an external drive. Some devices with a closed operating system (for example, running iOS or Windows Phone 8) cannot act as a source for data recovery by the program, since they do not provide direct access to their file system.

You can download the program to recover deleted data for free from the developer's site ... The size of the distribution kit is small - only 14.2 MB. During the installation process, you do not need to enter a license key, but after installation, a limited functionality version is launched, which allows you to analyze the storage medium and make sure that the necessary files can be restored. As usual, in the case of programs that recover data, you will need to purchase a license for full operation.

Hetman Partition Recovery Review | Why can data be recovered?

From the point of view of the file system, any file is a sequence of bytes located in data storage locations. The file is stored, as a rule, not as a single block, but in fragments (in the process of using the drive, files are deleted many times, and a new piece of data is written to the freed space over time). The file system table is responsible for the file reading process. When deleted from the "Recycle Bin", the corresponding place in the table is marked as "free", but the memory cells of the media themselves still store what was saved on them - until a new piece of data is written to them.

That is why after deleting a file from the "Recycle Bin" or if the structure of the file table is damaged, you can restore the lost file using a utility that scans the medium and finds the corresponding data fragments.

The success of the recovery depends on how heavily the drive is used and the capacity of the drive. For example, the chances of recovering a photo deleted right in the process of shooting from a small memory card are much less than recovering a text document stored on a hard disk. Sometimes a file can only be partially restored (for example, if the drive has been physically damaged). In more common cases (accidental deletion, virus infection, erroneous deletion of a partition, or any other violation of the file structure) and with prompt identification of the problem, you can count on the complete recovery of the "lost" file.

Although the principle of operation of all recovery utilities is generally the same, this does not mean that all programs are equally effective.

Firstly, file recognition algorithms are being improved, and in the case of Hetman Partition Recovery the user gets one of the most modern "engines" responsible for recognizing data fragments based on their content (the developer calls his method "signature analysis").

Besides, Hetman Partition Recovery pays close attention to the nuances that can affect the result. The utility works in read-only mode, using a virtual image to create and then restore data. This is important because any write to disk can make the problem worse.

When working with worn-out or unstable hard drives, another problem can arise - multiple freezes, as a result of which data retrieval can last indefinitely. To avoid this, Hetman software implements the principle of resuming an interrupted analysis process. The information obtained during the analysis can be saved as a separate file and later loaded for further use.

Note that the interface of the entire application and help files are in Russian. However, most users are unlikely to need to study the documentation for the program: the developers tried to make Hetman Partition Recovery as easy to use as possible.

Everyone always has a choice - to use a step-by-step wizard or a standard program interface.

The wizard is designed to simplify the recovery procedure. First, the user will need to select the drive, then the scan mode.

The "quick scan" mode lives up to its name: it took only 10 seconds on a 250 GB hard drive. After that, a window opens that resembles a standard Windows Explorer, where deleted files are marked with a red cross.

The "in-depth" analysis takes noticeably longer than the "fast" one: it took us about 50 minutes.

Regardless of whether you use a simplified "Wizard" or a standard interface, the speed of analysis will depend on the size of the scanned area, the characteristics of the drive itself, but most importantly - on the selected scan mode. Is In-Depth Analysis worth the time? On the one hand, recently deleted files are easily recovered in "fast" mode. It's another matter when it comes to a complex case (for example, a document was deleted a week ago, or we are talking about a photo deleted from the camera's memory card). Here, signature analysis may be the only chance to recover something that cannot be recovered in "fast mode". During testing, we were able to locate and recover files deleted from the hard drive more than a month ago!

Again, a lot depends on how heavily the drive is used. If we are talking about complex cases, it makes sense to try a trial version of the program before purchasing a license, and if the document is found successfully, purchase a license.

After scanning, you can navigate the directory structure in much the same way as if you were using regular Windows Explorer. Files found for recovery are displayed in the folders from which they were deleted. The preview function allows you to see digital images (in a separate "window" or as thumbnails).

The recovered files themselves can be saved to any available logical partition, written to CD / DVD, or uploaded to a remote server via FTP without using additional software. For this task, the "File Save Wizard" has been implemented.

If you need a program that allows you to recover any file on almost any media, then you will hardly be able to find something free or almost free that would work as effectively as Hetman Partition Recovery.

Hetman Partition Recovery Review | Summarize

License cost Hetman Partition Recovery is 3000 rubles, which is on average lower than that of similar applications. For example, Data Rescue PC3 from the company Prosoft Engineering also works under Windows, supports FAT and NTFS file systems, can recover data both from a hard drive and from external media, and is a worthy competitor for Hetman, if you do not take into account the Russification and user-friendliness of the interface. Hetman Partition Recovery strikingly superior to Data Rescue. But the main thing is that six months ago the $ 99 that Prosoft asks for its product was comparable to the cost of a license for Hetman Partition Recoveryand now the alternative version is twice as expensive.

The second well-known competitor is EasyRecovery from the company Kroll ontrack ... The cost of the Professional version is $ 149, the Home version is $ 79. Both versions work with FAT, NTFS and even HFS (Mac) systems, allowing you to recover files of any type, including from external media. The differences between them are insignificant for most potential users (for example, the Pro version allows you to recover deleted mail, virtual machines and hidden system files). But even in the EasyRecovery Home version, the application will cost almost one and a half times more than the flagship product of Hetman Software.

Note that the user can save money and purchase a more highly specialized utility from Hetman Software, for example, with support for one file system - NTFS Recovery or FAT Recovery. Or choose the option with support for only a certain file type (Photo Recovery, Office Recovery, Excel Recovery, Word Recovery). In the event that a crisis situation has arisen due to the loss of data of a certain type, this, obviously, will save you money. However, if you are purchasing data recovery software, it is best to have the most functional version.

Hetman Partition Recovery Tutorial Video

Nowadays, there are many modern devices that contain large amounts of various information in a very compact size. However, despite the reliability and perfection of modern technology, no one is safe from accidental deletion of important files from a flash drive, memorable photos from a smartphone memory card, camera, as well as large amounts of information from a computer hard drive. This is especially true of those cases when a USB flash drive infected with a virus has to be formatted.

I also had to face the problem of lost files when an acquaintance (not very computer savvy) formatted my USB flash drive, which contained a lot of important documents, program installation files, as well as photos, videos, and music that I had not copied to my computer. At first I thought that maybe she had hidden the files by mistake, or a virus had got on the flash drive, but during the analysis of the removable disk it turned out that it does not contain any viruses, and the free memory "said" that the flash drive is absolutely empty.

After analyzing the current situation and a short search, I compared the programs for recovering lost data existing on the Internet and decided to choose one of the licensed utilities, since I know that free programs are often ineffective. From a fairly large list of existing programs, I chose a utility such as Hetman Partition Recovery, the cost of which was acceptable for me, and the reviews were very good.

This utility is compatible with any modern Windows, functions with FAT and NTFS file systems and has minimum system requirements, which make it possible to install Hetman Partition Recovery on a computer with any, even very "weak" characteristics. At the same time, through the program, you can easily figure out how to restore a hard drive.

After installing the program, it turned out that it has a simple interface that does not require global computer skills, that is, an advanced user, an average user, and even a person with a minimum level of computer skills can use it. In addition, to work with this utility, it is enough to follow the tips of the data recovery wizard, which shows the step-by-step steps that should be followed to recover lost data.

Having installed the program, which by the way is small in size, with an accessible and easy installer, I began to figure out how to use it. In fact, everything turned out to be very simple. By the way, there is also one nuance here: if you need to recover data from a hard disk, then you need to install the software on any other disk on your computer.

To start the process and recover data, for example, from a formatted external or internal storage device, you need to launch the program from the desktop or from the Start menu.

Complete analysis of a removable disk.

After starting the utility, I saw a pop-up window of the recovery wizard dialogues, which, by the way, can be disabled by unchecking the corresponding checkbox. But since I am introducing you to this product, I will leave the wizard's advice.

After some deliberation (for reliability), I prefer a full analysis, because I need to recover all the information.

The complete analysis takes some time, so you will need to wait a bit for its completion.

Everything took about three minutes, and after finishing I saw the following:

I press the "Finish" button and a working field opens, consisting of three sections: in the central one, the found files and the folder "$ Deep Analysis" are shown, the left one indicates the valid storage media, and the right one displays the progress of document recovery.

After clicking on "$ Deep analysis", a window appeared, displaying all the files from which you can select the ones needed for searching during deep analysis.

Files for recovery, you need to "drag" to the right field. Drag and click "Restore".

After that, the wizard asks you to specify a location to save the recovered files.

I choose the option offered by the "Restore to Hard Drive" system. I press "Next" and choose a folder to save.

In this case, I save the files to disk D. I press "Restore". The files are being saved to the hard drive, which will also take some time.

The process has ended and you can check if all of the previously selected files are in the folder. I press "Finish" and "go" to the folder specified for saving the files.

The program found 11 types of files, which are arranged in folders according to the format.

If you select and open any, you can observe the recovered files, the names of which are of course different from the original ones, but it will not be difficult to change them.

Fast disk scan.

So, this software found and successfully restored all my lost files and you can complete the work on this. However, it became interesting to me to check how the "Quick Scan" works, and therefore, having previously copied all the files to the hard drive, I decided to try again.

At first, the principle of operation does not differ from the "deep scan", since the recovery wizard offers to perform identical actions, however, after selecting the "Quick scan" item, I saw a similar window with the files found, the search for which took a little less time than with the previous scan method ...

I press "Finish" and the following window opens.

However, unlike the previous scan method, when you click on the "$ Deep Analysis" folder, a slightly different window appears.

Here you can specify all files to be restored, or only some of their types.

I have selected some types of files to recover. I click on the "OK" button.

As you can see at the bottom right, the utility “searches” for data to be recovered. This took approximately 2-3 minutes. After finishing the search, I saw 7 files (not counting the archives) that the program found. They are located in folders in accordance with the formats, and if you go to the selected one, you can see audio, video or text files, the names of which are assigned by the program.

I select everything and drag it to the right side of the working field. I press "Restore" and see a window similar to the deep check method, where you need to specify the way to save the files. I decided to save everything to the hard drive.

I click the "Next" button and select the path to save, then in the next dialog box I click on "Restore". I see a similar window as in the case of the previous check, that is, the program saves the selected files. I press "Finish" and "go" to the hard drive to check if all of the declared files are available.

All the files that I selected for recovery have been restored, which means that you can complete the work with the utility. The only inconvenience when working with this program is the inconsistency of the file names, but it is not difficult to fix and rename them. In conclusion, I suggest watching the official video about the main features of the program.

In general, I liked working with this utility. Convenient and easy interface made it possible to quickly recover all the necessary information. In addition, the program quickly "finds" all the necessary files, which allows you not to waste a lot of time, but quickly restore everything.

Protected drives will most likely have to be restored at a specialized service center. Most likely, such a service will cost a lot of money. It all depends on the specific case, the type of drive and the tasks set.

People who are worried about their confidential data or hide important information from unauthorized persons use various specialized programs for this. They work on different principles and can be hardware or software. For example, you can use USB Safeguard or TrueCrypt for this. In the same article, the emphasis is on those cases when people accidentally or intentionally deleted some documents, photos or other files that were stored on an unprotected hard disk, SD card, USB flash drive. P.S. There are different occasions in life ...
