Quick search for various character codes

To learn decimal Unicode at any time already entered

symbol, you must:

1. In the window open document  put the text input cursor to the right of the desired character.

2. Use the keyboard shortcut Alt + X.

3. The character will be replaced by the corresponding code.

4. To return the display of the symbol, it is enough to

press Alt + X.

To find out what Unicode is any (not even

document) character, it is necessary:

1. In the open document window go to the "Insert" tab.

2. In the "Symbols" group, select the "Symbol" button.

3. In the "Symbol" menu, select "Other Symbols".

4. In the “Symbol” window in the window with the symbol table, find the

5. In the column “From” choose the encoding - hexadecimal or decimal.

6. In the "Character code" column, the code of the selected character is displayed in the desired encoding.

AutoCorrect

Some frequently used characters can be entered into the text in the autochange mode, that is, when typing certain characters will be replaced by the desired character.

How to enable autocorrect mode?

To enable AutoCorrect, follow these steps:

1. In the upper left corner of the program window click the button.

2. In the menu of typical tasks, select the button "Word Options".

3. In the "Options Word" select the "Spelling

4. In the box, click the AutoCorrect Options button.

5. In the “AutoCorrect: Russian” window, turn on the “Replace with input” option.

Examples of autochange: (c) = ©;

How to create ways to autochange?

In addition to the standard set of characters for conversion to common characters, you can organize your own autochange methods.

1. In the open document window go to the "Insert" tab.

2. In the "Symbols" group, select the "Symbol" button.

3. In the "Symbol" menu, select "Other Symbols".

4. In the "Symbol" tab "Symbols" or " Special marks»We select the necessary symbol or sign for which automatic replacement will be created. For example, the symbol (±).

5. Click the "AutoCorrect" button.

6. In the “AutoCorrect: Russian” window on the “AutoCorrect” tab in the “To” column, the previously selected symbol will be displayed.

7. In the column "Replace" type the desired sequence of characters or letters, which should be automatically replaced with the selected character. For example, the sequence (/ / / /).

8. Click the "Add" button.

9. Close the window with the "OK" button.

10. Now after typing a certain sequence of characters, the desired character will appear at the location of the text input cursor.

Note. If it is necessary to add a text explanation or comment in the right place of the document, as you work with the document, you need to use the insert in the note. When printing a document, external notes can also be printed.

Ways to learn character code without programming

1. You can search the Internet for an "ASCII", "ANSI" or "Unicode" table.
2. Use "Insert" - "Symbol".

Show

For some characters, you can try this method: select the character for which you want to know the code - Insert tab - Symbols group - Other symbols ... - a dialog will appear - if the same symbol that you selected in the dialog is selected in this dialog Word, then in the lower right corner, in the "Character code" field there will be a character code.

In the "Character code" field, the character code can be in decimal and hexadecimal notation. To find out in which number system the code is located in the field "Code of the mark", look at the right side of the field "of" and what is written at the end in brackets. There may be either "(dec.)" Or "(hex.)".

If "dec", then simply substitute the mark code as it is in the "Find" field, adding the "^" symbol in front. If "hex", then first translate the number into the decimal number system (try to find online translators on the Internet), and then substitute in the "Find" field, adding "^" in front. If this character is only in the "Unicode" table, then add "^ u" in front.

If another character is selected in the dialog, then there is no information on this symbol in this dialog. This can be, for example, with special characters, for example, with the symbol "paragraph mark" - ansi-code 13; In this dialog, codes begin with a larger code.

This dialog uses three tables of symbols:
1) ASCII
2) ANSI. For the Russian language, the ANSI table in this dialog is called Cyrillic.
3) Unicode

Ways to learn character code with programming

1. The built-in vba-help has a section: VBA language reference\u003e Visual Basic language reference\u003e Character Sets.

2. You can select the desired character in the program "Word", then you need to go to VBA and in the "Immediate Window" you need to use the following codes:
Print Asc (Selection.Text)
or
Print AscW (Selection.Text)
For the code obtained by the first method, it is necessary to substitute "^" in front, and in the second case "^ u".

3. If the second method gives the wrong code (this can sometimes be for unknown reasons), then this method. Copy the symbol for which you want to know the code - display the "Find and replace" window - insert the copied symbol in the "Search" field - enable macro recording - click "Find" - disable macro recording - go to VBA and take the symbol code from the recorded macro .

In some cases, you cannot paste the copied symbol in the "Find" field. I can not explain why this happens.

Notes

In the Word, when searching and replacing, you need to add zeros to the front of the character code so that there are four digits, for example: ^ 0013. This is the syntax. If you simply specify "^ 13", then it will not work if after the "^ 13" there will be some other text.

Almost daily in our work, in the development of the next project, when writing articles, or simply communicating on forums and in social networks, we use certain UNICODE, ASCII, hexadecimal and HTML. To keep in mind all the jumble of symbols is not realistic, and there is no need. For this you can use different types  cribs, code tables, the benefit of this good, is sufficiently represented on the Internet.

Today I want to talk about two interesting and very useful resources, with the help of which you can always carry out a quick search for various codes. It is very convenient to always have on hand (or in the list of bookmarks) your own library of codes for characters.

1. Character-Code.com

A very convenient resource, a dynamic table in which a huge set of different codes for characters is presented, for all occasions. For a quick search, all characters are categorized. Presented codes: ASCII, Hex and HTML. There is a choice of the language you need, including Russian, which in itself is already good. You can easily find the symbols of punctuation, different types of arrows and currency symbols.

2. Unicodinator

This online library uNICODE charactersthat can replace icons or images. The resource provides the ability to easily and conveniently navigate UNICODE blocks from code 0000 to code DFFF. On the project, the search engine for symbols is debugged and works fine, so finding the necessary one will not be difficult.
When you click on the symbol you need, HTML and Java / C / Python code is displayed, which you can later use in your projects.

I will reveal a mah-a-little secret (maybe someone else does not know), the code of any character can be learned without departing from the cash register, straight from under Windows, you just have to follow the path:
Start \u003e\u003e Run \u003e\u003e charmap  (% windir% \\ system32 \\ charmap.exe) and your view will open a detailed table of characters that serves to view the characters included in the selected font, and displays the following character sets: Windows, DOS and Unicode. Of course, this is a slightly different story, but for complete clarity, I think the information will not be superfluous.

I hope many of you, dear readers, will replenish your clip of online tools with these simple but very useful services. And you are always at hand (or in the list of bookmarks), will have its own library of codes for characters.

I wish you good luck in creating successful and interesting projects.

And for dessert today - an example of how, with simple hand movements, right in the window of your browser, you can draw amazing patterns, relaxing music from relaxing music.
