Thus, a traditional laptop is durable, functional and productive, perfect for all types of personal computers. It's important, bulky and creaky; it requires a special bag or backpack. And a netbook, the size of a small book, can easily fit in a briefcase or handbag and does not weigh down its owner at all. And let’s not forget that in this world it’s modest, but it’s still a full-fledged x86 computer that costs less than a prestigious standard phone.

The mini-computer, even before its appearance in the world, had become a popular hit - a source of indiscriminate interest among investors and the darkest of competitors, who themselves had not thought of it or did not believe in the success of the idea. And as soon as it became clear that the product was “popping”, a new boom began - clones, analogues, accessories “in the style of Eee PC”, components “for Eee PC”, etc.
It should be noted that the look of a typical netbook was not immediately apparent, and not all of the ideas embedded in the Eee PC were revealed. For example, the screen size of 7 inches, found in inexpensive portable DVD players, turned out to be insufficient for comfortable work, and netbook manufacturers quickly shifted to a matrix of 9 and 10 inches. Well, replacing the hard drive with a flash drive didn’t really work - it’s a small undertaking that you can equip a cheap computer with, and the increase in speed is not significant. That's why most netbooks today are equipped with traditional hard drives. An important aspect was the energy efficiency factor: the netbook battery is small, and the standard Intel hardware platform on which “mainstream” laptops are installed is not suitable. Just as Intel released a new Atom processor, which has a very simplified microarchitecture, and extremely low, only a couple of watts, energy-efficient, processors have been rushing around behind the new platform (which has led to serious shortage of components for netbooks).
Today, netbooks are not released by the coolest (or proudest) manufacturer of mobile computers. Most of these devices are designed according to the same scheme and are divided mainly by design and certain parameters, for example, the type and purpose of the main storage device. Not everyone was interested in experimenting and searching for new forms - the majority was given to the ASUS company as a pioneer. ASUS currently has dozens of netbook models, with different functions and design, and competitors have one or two revisions of the option without a clear focus on the specific category of customers.
Acer is one of the first to tackle netbooks. This Aspire One netbook has not become the object of experiments - its appearance and hardware features are similar to ASUS models of another generation.
And no less, the Acer netbook has immediately won the respect of potential buyers, who know that this company can produce reliable and efficient machines at an affordable price. And the price for a netbook is not the most important parameter that differentiates it from a classic subnotebook. In our review we will look at one of the most advantageous options of the Aspire One - the one that is equipped with a standard 120 GB hard drive.
Acer's development model is conceptually in no way different from most other netbooks. This is a cheap sub-laptop small screen, Insurance for simple expenses and Internet access. You will need to use the new Intel mobile platform, optimized for this class of computers. However, some netbooks focus more on looking at photos and videos than on text and business graphics, but it cannot be taken into account seriously. However, in general, the brightness of the matrix is, of course, low: the images are small, especially vertical, the contrast is weak, the color transfer is poor, the temperature of the color is protected (the picture turns blue), etc.

Unfortunately, at this point the Aspire One, like most of its classmates, is strongly inferior to “full-time” laptops. The noise of a small built-in fan may be barely noticeable in the minds of an office or primary classroom, but in a quiet home environment it is particularly suited to its monotonous daily routine. When typing, the fan noise is quite annoying (it is not loud, but even unpleasant to the ear). At the same time, the surface of the keyboard becomes noticeably warm, especially the near-right panel, while the bottom, fortunately, warms up to a lesser extent. Unfortunately, this is the problem with all laptops with a small internal volume - it is not possible to remove all the heat from the wind flow.
All netbooks on the Intel platform, and most of them are, are equipped with the same processor (Intel does not yet offer others). Therefore, we will try to equalize the productivity of the Acer netbook with the available and simple classic laptops of the budget class, based on the Intel platform and equipped with Celeron M processors. Acer supplies Aspire One models with a hard drive with a special version of the Windows XP Home operating system (for netbooks), and models with a flash drive - Linux system(Probably, it is less powerful up to the volume of the disk). Therefore, all tests were carried out in Windows XP SP2 Home, using older versions of BAPCo tests - SYSMark 2004 and MobileMark 2005.
Productivity. It would seem that the Atom processor has a clear advantage over the Celeron M - it supports HyperTreading and ensures parallel processing of two command streams. However, let’s not forget that its architecture is greatly simplified to reduce energy consumption.
The pouch is at least a third the same size as an Acer TravelMate laptop running on a similar platform. In a number of tests, the netbook plays its “older friend” twice! The Fujitsu Siemens laptop, one of the biggest protests in the rest of the country, easily outperforms the Acer Aspire One. The situation gets worse if you connect the netbook to the battery life limit and set the energy saving mode to “Always On” in the Windows settings (the dynamic frequency reduction system does not work):

As a replacement for the hard drive in this model, there is an SSD, and the display is a couple of watts lower. However, despite the low battery capacity, the Aspire One netbook still operates autonomously for no more than 3 years, which is unlikely to consume all the potential power of your computer.
Compared to it, laptops of the original class work even less, although their batteries have larger capacities.
Regardless of the fact that formally all netbooks are the same in configuration (except for the hard drive), they have real advantages that are rarely reflected in dry official figures. Zokrema, a model of the Acer Aspire One, which is considered one of the most affordable netbooks on the market, also has its own characteristics. We were pleased with the ease of preparation and assembly, the manual keyboard with a key width of 17 mm, the main buttons of the touchpad, and the design of the cover. A real plus for configuration with a flash drive will be the availability of another card reader. The downsides of this netbook include the unpleasant noise, fan noise, and short battery life.

The upper left corner of the keyboard contains light indicators: hard drive activity, NumLock, CapsLock (with green backlight) as well as the Bluetooth power button with a power-on indicator (light blue). In some models, the blue tooth activation button may not be visible.

OS, Drivers and other software
Initially, the netbook comes pre-installed with Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and a set of various software (including trial ones). My heart loved Windows 7. It was installed from a specially prepared flash drive. Drivers for "Simka" are available in the relevant section of the manufacturer's website, so there is no need to climb all the sites to look for the latest versions. Installation of the OS and drivers was quick and painless. Just as quickly and calmly I got up all the software I needed. The installation was carried out from an external Western Digital Essential 250GB drive via USB ports.
After installing all the software behind the "Watch Manager" data, I lost almost 500MB of free RAM. Welcome, Windows 7 Ultimate has been installed correctly, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and the absence of other software, which took up most of the space in the tray.
The system pleased with its sensitivity and speed of operation with 1GB of memory installed. There are plans to check speed and energy efficiency when installing 2 GB of RAM. The CPU utilization with the initial unpowered robot does not exceed 20-25%. At higher avantages (with 10-15 hourly open additions) you can rise to 60-70%. For a single-core processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz and HyperThreading support, the result is simply outstanding. I won’t bother with watching movies and games, for which the booth costs a heavy unit with a 22 “NEC monitor. What’s less important is portability and autonomy in operation, and that’s what the smell is for. . documents, robot in Internet at any time in any place.
Merezha, 3G and WiMAX
This model already includes a 100Mbps Atheros fringe card, a wireless WiFi network from Broadcom and a Bluetooth module from Broadcom (performs amazingly well with standard Windows drivers). I dwell on such peculiarities:
1. Availability of 3G / WiMAX module. In principle, there is no need to put a 3G / WiMAX modem there, especially for work in GSM / EDGE / 3G under the battery compartment and finally for installing the SIM card. True, the ruler himself is also a day. If direct hands are evident, the problem is simply solved. For now, I’ll settle for buying an external USB modem from a three-letter operator. WiMAX will never come to us, but other operators may not be able to provide 3G services in the future.
2. Follows from point 1. The fragments of the bezrotovaya hemstone may have been badly damaged, but no wires to the antennas were found in the mini PCI-ex connector. In principle, on the same EBay.com there are WiFi / WiMAX cards on Intel 5150/5350 chips, including an antenna included.
For a home wireless network, the cable connection option would be a big deal: on a “home gigabit toad” there simply aren’t any good ports, otherwise you wouldn’t want to be tied down to the darts. Our choice is also WiFi, fortunately it is dual-band 802.11b / g. The booths are connected via the D-Link DWL-2100AP + point (with WPA2-PSK encryption and a MAC address filter, of course). The addresses are visible to the modem, linked to the MAC. Both addresses are the same. For other options, you can change the settings to connect via WiFi, which will connect automatically when a connection is detected and the required addresses are assigned. In a word, there are no problems with WiFi support in “Simtsi”. The signal steadily evokes in the minds of the reinforced concrete panels the image of the 80s of the last century.
The cable connection option also does not cause any problems for Vikoristan. In this case, the NetSetMan utility is used with installed profiles for the required settings. Incl. For domain boundary on the job and with the connections of the required printers. In a word, “five” is solid. In this case, the presence of “just” a 100 Mbit card is more useful, but not enough. 1Gbit for a light machine is really overkill. It’s simply not possible to copy/write files to disk with the 5400rpm/xv “netik” speed wrapper.
Energy saving, battery, temperature conditions
It’s not easy to tell and say that the energy consumption of this “baby” is at a very low level. “Netik” is satisfied with the compact 30W HiPro power supply unit, which is smaller in size than my Nokia N70, although a little thicker, and comes with a large 52W battery.
Before speaking in economy mode, the book automatically reduces the brightness of the screen by about half, and the “record” also turns on some of the Aero effects. The comfort of the robot does not suffer much, since raising the brightness of the screen using hot keys does not interfere with anything. This is partly due to the LED backlighting of the screen.
The only thing that screams is the temperature of the “baby”. Still, it’s not a good idea to work with it while lying on the sofa or bed, since most of the ventilation openings will inevitably be blocked. The most handy positions are: sitting at a table, on kneeling chairs, or with a netbook on your hand (hold it manually, holding the protruding battery, or holding it handily in the “hand” position).

In general, the netbook has deprived itself of only positive criticism. I accept that I have rejected what I want. High mobility and autonomy for food storage, plus compactness. And there is no sense in this episode until the last few minutes, so it is intended for vendors to bring to the fore the importance of designated power.

Official statements from the manufacturer clearly characterize the Acer Aspire One 722 as an inexpensive tool for work, learning and multimedia. All students and people who prioritize comfort and sleep in social settings at home fall into this category. The small size, the glamorous look, the availability of all sorts of colorful farbs clearly suggest that the device can achieve a wonderful status.

First of all, the laptop is equipped with the most advanced components (for its class), which allow you to play dynamic games. On the other hand, the entire filling of the device has very high energy-saving functions, which means that the autonomy of the robot on a single battery charge has significantly increased.
