The Lenovo A6000 and A7000 series phones for less than RUB 10,000 were well received by the public. Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus from the same company costs 7,800 rubles, but is it also good?

Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Phone - Reviews

This time, Lenovo focused on the special features of the smartphone, rather than on its technical characteristics. Let's take a look at the example of the Vibe K5 Plus, what came of it.

Apart from the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus itself, inside the box we will find a standard charger, a Micro USB cable, a user manual, and a screen protector. Headset headphones are not included.

Equipment and design

The thin body of the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus combines metal and plastic with a removable back cover. The smartphone looks stylish and fits comfortably in the hand, and weighs 142 grams. On the back there is a camera, flash, Lenovo logo and Dolby stereo speakers.

The MicroUSB port is at the bottom, the 3.5mm jack is at the top. The SIM and Micro SD slot is behind the removable battery. On the right side, you will find the power button and volume rocker. The surface of the smartphone is a little slippery.

The 5-inch IPS display with 178-degree viewing angle has a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a density of 401 PPI. Colors are not clear enough, they lack saturation. Alas, there is no Gorilla Glass protection here.

There are sensors for gravity, proximity and light, as well as an electronic compass.

Software

The Vibe K5 Plus runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Lenovo UI. The software is terribly inconvenient, the smartphone often lags.

Of the special features, the TheaterMax split screen technology is available, which provides an incredible virtual reality experience. By pairing with the AntVR headset, you can stream any content to the big screen. TheaterMax allows you to enjoy smooth graphics, surround sound and responsive 3D gameplay.

Smartphone performance

Snapdragon 616 64-bit 8-core processor with 1.7 GHz frequency and 2 GB of RAM is not enough for stable operation. Even opening the dialer or taking a picture will not work without freezing. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus heats up very quickly under heavy load.

Also worth noting is 16 GB of internal memory (up to 128 GB when using microSD) and a graphics accelerator Adreno 405.

The Vibe K5 Plus phone is equipped with a 13MP Omnivision OV13850 lens with f / 2.2 aperture and LED flash.

Under normal lighting conditions, the shots are decent, with sufficient contrast and vivid colors. When HDR is turned on, the image starts to appear artificial, and the clarity decreases if the lighting is insufficient. Compared to the Redmi Note 3's camera, the Vibe K5 Plus is inferior in everything.

The front camera is a 5-megapixel lens with an f / 2.8 aperture.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Battery

The 2,740mAh battery drains in less than a day. despite the low performance, the smartphone consumes energy quickly.

Outcome

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is disappointing on most parameters. Lenovo has focused on TheartreMax, sound quality and design, but performance, camera and battery endurance are equally important.

Buyers receive a smartphone in a two-color box, familiar to the Chinese manufacturer. The device is supplied with earphones, charger and protective film. Also, to increase protection, the manufacturer suggests using a plastic case. It is only necessary to note that the quality of the fit of the cover is rather mediocre, but it is also difficult to demand more from a gadget in the budget segment.

After unpacking lenovo k5 plus unpleasantly surprised with my settings. The model could not be restored using the backup. But even in the process of setting up the device, several problems were noticed at once. First of all, the unpleasant moments include freezing, as well as turning off Wi-Fi for some unknown reason. But on the third attempt it was still possible to tune the model.

Operation process

Visually, the device is unlikely to surprise those who have already dealt with models of the budget segment. The user can choose between white or gold design options. The Indian market also received a black case, but in the domestic market there was no such option, so we tested a smartphone in a white case.

As show lenovo k5 plus reviews, the back cover can be easily removed to gain access to the battery and functional connectors. By the way, it is made of metal, and in the places where the antennas are installed are inserts made of durable plastic. The streamlining of the case pleased, the lid goes very smoothly into the side panels, which received a shiny edging.

In terms of dimensions and material combinations for the case vibe k5 plusleaves a mixed feeling. The smartphone has a slippery surface, so it's rather difficult to use it with one hand. The use of the case that comes with the kit does not have a particularly positive effect on the convenience during operation, but only makes the model more bulky. If we talk about specific numbers, then the device has the following dimensions: 142 x 71 x 8.2 mm with a mass of 150 g.

A removable cover was needed so that you could install two cards and additionally fit a flash drive. The company decided to abandon the trendy hybrid tray today, which earned a lot of positive feedback from users. The collapsible body does not cause problems during operation, as it is held very firmly. Extraneous sounds are also absent.

Subjectively, the appearance of the smartphone can be called quite good, although it does not differ in particular personality. If you decide lenovo k5 plus buy, there are two main disadvantages to keep in mind. The first is the location of the speakers, which you can easily cover with your finger while playing games or watching movies, causing the volume to drop. The second disadvantage is the location of the main connector, which it was decided to move to the top end. It will be quite inconvenient to hold the smartphone while charging. Apart from these features, the model is quite simple and easy to use.

Smartphone screen

Our lenovo k5 overviewcame to one of the most interesting highlights of the device. We are talking about its display, which takes up most of the front panel. The Chinese manufacturer decided to stick with a Full HD matrix with a density of 440 ppi. Considering that we have a gadget with a five-inch diagonal, then such indicators will be very impressive. Color reproduction is appreciated even by demanding users, as are the excellent viewing angles. For those who like to read from the screen of their gadget, the device offers the opportunity to use a special mode, where a yellow filter is applied to the display. If desired, you can manually adjust the saturation or color temperature.

Also lenovo k5 plus, pricewhich remains available, is equipped with a light sensor, but it does not work well. But the quality of the oleophobic coating was a pleasant surprise. There were no questions about the correct operation of the sensor during testing. The device can recognize five simultaneous clicks.

Sound

The strong point of the model is the playback quality, which has already become a proprietary feature of the company's smartphones. The gadget received two powerful speakers based on Dolby Atmos technology. In this respect, the device is a benchmark for all other models of the budget segment. The user is guaranteed to receive the maximum positive experience during the operation of the device. Playing YouTube videos or watching a movie will give you the opportunity to enjoy a melodic and distinct sound.

AT lenovo k5 +high-quality speaker and microphone for conversation are installed, so there is no discomfort in the process of communication. You just need to immediately think about buying a good headset, since the complete headphones, as often happens, are uncomfortable, and the sound in them gives off budget.

Cameras

Modern smartphones, even those that are in the budget segment, can please with a good camera. AND lenovo vibe k5 plus overviewproved a similar statement. 13 megapixel sensor allows you to get high quality images. Compared to flagship cameras, the difference is easily noticeable, but good daylight will produce pretty good images. For video recording, the device offers to use the 1080p standard, but in poor lighting conditions, you should not expect a masterpiece video.

The biggest problem is not even the quality of pictures in poor light, but the speed of work. The camera starts up for a relatively long time - you can't quickly get the smartphone out of your pocket and immediately take a normal picture. But the camera app is simple and intuitive. For fans of built-in effects, the K5 Plus has this option.

The front camera is a standard 5MP solution. For its normal operation, you will need to choose the right lighting, since otherwise the image quality will be mediocre. Established tools can help fix the situation, but you should not particularly rely on them.

Device software

Our lenovo k5 plus overviewshowed that the model is based on the use of Snapdragon 616, which complements 2 gigabytes of RAM. Small storage capacity can be easily expanded with a flash card. The lack of NFC is bad news, but the model does allow 4G. During the tests in various benchmarks, the model did not show record results, but they are quite high for its segment. Heating of the device in applications does not exceed the comfort limits, and when performing normal tasks it is completely absent.

As noted above, initially small errors were noticed in the operation of the device, which spoiled the impression. But later the situation returned to normal, although certain delays slipped. They are especially noticeable when working with several applications at the same time. The only good news is that delays are sporadic and not common.

Apparatus lenovo vibe k5 plus, reviewswhich is easy to find today is running the fifth generation Android OS. Also, the Chinese manufacturer decided to sweeten the pill by installing Vibe UI. Visually, the launcher is quite attractive and functional, although you should not expect a significant expansion of possibilities. But the performance of the device does not suffer from the new interface, so users can easily cope with everyday tasks.

Duration of work

Under the collapsible body, you can see a 2750 mAh battery. With its help, the user gets the opportunity to enjoy a whole day of work without recharging in active use. If you use special modes or stop unused applications, you can significantly extend its life. Users should not expect critical problems in terms of autonomy.

Outcome

Our lenovo K5 Reviewshowed that the device has several important features at once, which make it one of the most profitable acquisitions in the budget segment. First of all, we are talking about the display of the model, as well as the quality of sound transmission. The package did not disappoint either. The device received a removable battery, which allows you to increase autonomy if desired. The only drawback is the presence of minor hitching during work.

In the domestic market lenovo k5 plus, reviewswhich is positive is one of the most worthy decisions. The extended scope of delivery, as well as compactness, allows you to use your smartphone as a workhorse with maximum convenience. It will hardly be possible to call the camera super-productive, but it is also difficult to record it in negative moments.

Nevertheless, the model has competitors and is represented by several well-known brands at once: ASUS, Xiaomi, Meizu. They may offer increased battery life as well as more interesting designs, but they are unlikely to provide better sound or video playback. In terms of performance, the smartphone is not inferior to competitors.

Appearance

The smartphone completely repeats the appearance of its "older brother" Lenovo K5 Plus. Beveled corners make the device look more compact than it actually is.

On the front side there are: front camera, earpiece, sensors, display, event indicator and three touch control buttons.

On the back is a camera with flash, microphone, Lenovo logo and speaker grill. The back cover is mainly made of aluminum, but also has plastic inserts. This gives the device a more expensive appearance. Since the cover is removable, the memory card and SIM card slots are located underneath.

Another microphone is located on the bottom edge of the smartphone.

As for the power and volume buttons, they are located on the right side, and the connection of headphones and a charger is on the top.

The side edges are framed with a pretty silver metal-like outline.

Outcome

In general, the Lenovo K5 smartphone is a pretty solid state employee with good technical characteristics and a pleasant appearance. The advantages of the device include the presence of two full-fledged slots for SIM cards (not a combo with microSD), a loud stereo speaker, a removable cover and a replaceable battery. Of the minuses - not very good video shooting and the lack of updates for newer versions of the operating system.

On February 21, at the MWC 2016 mobile world congress, Lenovo unveiled two new smartphones: K5 and K5 Plus. The new items can definitely be called not just brothers, but siblings, since the similarity in characteristics is 90%, only one of them is a little older and even then not much. Let's see the details.

Differences

Smartphones, to put it mildly, do not differ much in their technical characteristics and parameters. There are only two main differences: displays and processors, and the rest is absolutely identical. Both new products have a five-inch screen and support for Dolby Atmos technology, which allows you to reveal all the facets of the sound of your favorite music. If you end up with relevant and properly mixed content, then it will be generally good.

External speakers (yes, there are two of them here) play loudly enough (above average) and efficiently. Still would! How else with Dolby Atmos support?

Detailed specifications of Lenovo K5 and K5 Plus

Both gadgets have a 2750 mAh battery and according to the manufacturer, the talk time on the 2G module is up to 32 hours, 3G - up to 15.1 hours, the standby time is up to 322 hours. Of course, there is support for LTE networks. RAM is installed 2 GB, and built-in storage 16 GB, expandable up to 32 GB due to Micro SD memory cards. Both new items have support for 2 SIM cards of Micro format at once and run on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

Technical specifications Lenovo VIBE K5 and the plus versions are best compared visually, using a plate. I mark the more interesting specifications in the extended version in green.

The usual version (VIBE K5) was not at the company's stand. There was only K5 Plus. Already on this indirect basis, we can conclude that there is no model without the "plus" prefix and there is no need to release it. Later, I will explain why, but for now let's go over the device and a short, but still user experience.

Design

Outwardly, the smartphone does not represent anything special.

The design is the most common and there are just a lot of similar smartphones on the market. Personally, the novelty reminded me of the long-gone Samsung Galaxy Star Plus GT-S7262.

White, plastic, strongly protruding chrome-plated frames around the perimeter of the front side.

Above the screen is a standard set of front elements: a 5 megapixel camera, sensors and an earpiece.

At the bottom there are touch-sensitive system control buttons. They are not illuminated.

At the back, the device received a metal cover and plastic inserts at the top and bottom. All this is very boring and we have seen it more than once from a variety of companies.

System and performance

The device runs on Android 5.1 OS. Since the novelty is completely new and many manufacturers are already installing Android 6.0 (the latest series of devices from LG, for example), the release of fresh devices with an outdated operating system is a strange step. However, the shell and software are well optimized.

Animation flies, switching between applications does not slow down - everything is fine with that.

In AnTuTu K5 Plus scores about 35 thousand points. Not a bad result, but also completely unbreakable. The most important thing is that the device does not behave like a budget flaw and works quite stably.

Cameras

It was decided to install a 5 megapixel front module and a 13 megapixel main module in the device. There was not the best lighting at the stand, but also not a complete collapse, so the smartphone had a chance to show itself and its photo capabilities.

It's nice that he coped with the test. Photos are of quite decent quality, a good level of detail, no problems with autofocus, and so on.

The only thing that confused me was the mistakes that the automatic mode made when setting the exposure. Out of about 20 frames, I left only seven pieces. The rest were either blown out, or the system made a mistake when setting the white balance. In general, if you are going to shoot with the K5 Plus, take several shots at a time. By the way, this is a general rule that applies to any photographic equipment, even if it is a SLR camera.

Outcome

Both new products are available in three colors: platinum-silver, champagne pink and graphite gray. The company only showed silver, the most versatile options. I haven't seen the rest, so I can't say anything about them.

Let's move on to the most interesting thing - cost. First of all, lenovo K5 Plus price will be $ 149 (approximately 11 thousand rubles). For this money, even with no appearance, the smartphone is still very good. Does not slow down, fresh platform (Snapdragon 616), good cameras.

Everything seems to be good. However, there is a second. This is the price for the regular version of Lenovo VIBE K5. It is $ 129, or about 10,000 rubles. What?! You pay a thousand rubles (maybe one and a half) and get a Full HD screen instead of a weak HD and a more efficient processor. Where is the logic?! Why release a junior version at all when, from a technical point of view, it is noticeably inferior to the older one, and the price difference is very small? I have no answer to this question

However, both phones will be available in select countries as early as March. Nothing is known about Russia. If the smartphone goes on sale, it will be by the summer.

Release date: March 2016 (worldwide) Price: $ 129 and $ 149
