Vertex Impress Luck - Specifications. Review of the smartphone Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G). Now with Google Pay and fast internet Phone impression hatch

Accelerometer (or G-sensor) - sensor of the device's position in space. As a primary function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the display image (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope - a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure angles of rotation in several planes at the same time. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. In devices that use only accelerometers, the measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor - a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values \u200b\u200bof brightness and contrast are established for a given light level. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Proximity sensor - a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental presses. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Geomagnetic sensor - a sensor for determining the side of the world to which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in cartographic programs for orientation on the ground.
Atmospheric pressure sensor - sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. Part of the GPS system, it allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
Touch ID - fingerprint identification sensor.

Illumination / Approximation

Satellite navigation:

GPS (Global Positioning System - Global Positioning System) - a satellite navigation system that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is designed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The main principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distance to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the time delay of the signal propagation from its sending by the satellite to being received by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measuring principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support of land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchronization) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.

I greet the members of the Expert Club, as well as all the guests who have visited this page.

It is customary for us to be afraid, if not afraid, of too cheap smartphones. Like, if life forces you to use such a device - then that's it, write it down! They take pictures very badly, the screens are just disgusting, "slows down" terribly, and if it is an operator's smartphone, it will also be locked.

Therefore, on holidays, it is already customary to wish not only happiness, health, good luck, but also that fate does not bring smartphones for three thousand rubles (just kidding). So, what am I for: fate brought me together with such a smartphone. And I even left for two weeks. And you know what I can say after this test? I could have walked with him further!

Opening the cards: we are talking about Vertex Impress Luck - the most inexpensive smartphone from the first largest B-brand on the modern Russian market of smart pipes. Vertex Impress Luck can be bought for over 3 thousand rubles. I don't even know what to compare it with. Probably, in Moscow or St. Petersburg, this is the average bill for a dinner in a cafe for two.

Vertex Impress Luck left a pleasant impression for a reason. There is every reason to believe that the appearance of this rather successful device for less than three rubles is a direct consequence of the policy of the Russian brand Vertex. According to his own account, Vertex has three key principles. Be the first in a) quality, b) design, and c) technological chips and / or price. With regard to quality, the situation is as follows: the defect rate for Vertex is on average around 2%, for other local brands of smartphones - both 5% and 10%. 2% is generally the level of HTC or LG, for example.

Well, before moving on to the story directly about the smartphone, I will voice two more points. First: Vertex Impress Luck became the first in terms of sales of smartphones during New Year's sales in the MegaFon network of showrooms. Second: in 2017, Vertex ranked sixth in terms of smartphone sales in Russia. And the first one is among local Russian brands. This is probably also a consequence of the “three basic principles” approach described above.

Appearance

I remember when I first took the Vertex Impress Luck out of the box, I was amazed. The reason for the amazement was that it has an extremely pleasant body material - such a velvety, soft-touch plastic. No, this is not a typical rubber with a bad smell, like many smartphones with a price of 3-4 thousand. This is just such a plastic velvet. After that, you somehow forget about the budget essence of the Vertex Impress Luck - it feels more expensive than it really costs.

The design of the back cover of the Vertex Impress Luck resembles the iPhone 5c, although it did not have a black version, but if we discard the color, then there is definitely a similarity.

By the way, about the color. Vertex Impress Luck can be not only black, but also golden. The last option, I think, is even nicer. But, alas, I had a less bright black version.

The back panel of the Vertex Impress Luck is removable. Under it is, again, a removable battery for 2,200 mAh, as well as three card slots at once - two for SIM cards, one for a USB flash drive. By the way, this is an important plus of most cheap smartphones: only they allow you to change the battery without visiting the service and put three cards at once! Even in devices that are more expensive than 10 thousand you will not find this anymore, there are only built-in batteries and, most often, combined card slots. Or two SIM cards, or one SIM card and in addition to it MicroSD. At Vertex Impress Luck, I repeat, everything is old-school, like in ancient times, when absolutely smartphones were a) collapsible and b) comfortable.

The back has slots for the camera, flash and speaker. The speaker is of medium volume - you can, of course, listen to a song for two or three, but you can't arrange a disco for a crowd of friends here.

There is no light sensor in the smartphone, and this is just a reflection of its budget essence. You cannot adjust the brightness of the screen automatically, only manually. But there are other components that are usually located above the display in smartphones. These are: a proximity sensor, a speaker and a front camera. The voice of the interlocutor Vertex Impress Luck transmits well, without rustling and metallic notes, the proximity sensor extinguishes the screen during a call, but the 2 megapixel front camera with flash ... More on it later, but you probably already understood that photo masterpieces with you can't do it.

Under the display there are three touch buttons, standard for Android smartphones. Everything is good with them, except for one thing: there is no backlight. So in the dark you have to poke at random. This is a minus, but what to do.

But there are no questions about the power and volume keys. They are on the right and are very conveniently located. It is easy to grope them - you definitely cannot be mistaken and confused.

On top of the case there is a MicroUSB port and a standard "jack" for headphones. The ports are located nearby, but you can plug in both the headphones and the cable at the same time. So listening to music while the Vertex Impress Luck is charging is real.

Screen

Often, smartphones for 3500-4000 rubles have 4.5-inch screens, that is, they are very small and not very convenient for browsing the Internet and playing games. Vertex Impress Luck offers an honest 5 inches, but not simple, but flavored with an IPS matrix. Yes, obviously not the most expensive one. Yes, with insufficient quality color reproduction - colors go into warm tones. And yet, this is IPS: black is black, not gray, viewing angles are wide, colors are saturated.

In general, we can state that Vertex tried and put in an ultra-budget smartphone not a cheap TN matrix (as in the vast majority of state employees), from which it hurts the eyes, but IPS. This, of course, cannot but rejoice.

And yes, about the color temperature, which is shifted to a warm area. Vertex Impress Luck has a variety of tools under the name MiraVision (developed by MediaTek) that allow you to customize the picture. Including making it colder, bringing it closer to the standard. So the minus described above, in general, is not a minus.

It remains to add that the screen resolution is 480 x 854 pixels. At the same time, the display supports the simultaneous pressing of only two fingers. Although for browsing the Internet, making calls and correspondence, this is quite enough.

Software

Vertex Impress Luck runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

The main screen has only one desktop.

The menu is implemented as a single page with a scroll bar. In my opinion, the ribbon menu is inferior to the page menu in terms of navigation speed. The smartphone is practically not cluttered with third-party software, and the additional software that is installed can be easily removed.

And yes, Vertex Impress Luck has an over the air update. I even managed to catch one update. After installing it, I did not fix anything new, so, apparently, the developers just re-optimized something.

Camera

The main camera has a 5 megapixel matrix. The camera is not equipped with autofocus.

You shouldn't expect anything in terms of photo capabilities from a smartphone. The examples show that the images are of poor quality. The image is blurry and lacks sufficient color.

The front camera is equipped with a 2 megapixel matrix. There is no autofocus, but there is a flash. The quality of the resulting photos is not that bad, considering the quality of the images from the main camera.

In work

To begin with, I will say that Vertex Impress Luck is a 3G smartphone. What else could you expect? For such a cost, LTE does not exist, let's get back to earth and stop dreaming about (for now) unrealizable. In general, closer to the point: the Vertex Impress Luck uses a MediaTek MT6580 chipset with four Cortex-A7 cores (up to 1.3 GHz) and a simple Mali-400MP graphics. There is 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory. That is to say, the required minimum.

But here it is worth making a reservation: it is very possible to play on this device! Yes, you will not see all the beauties invented by the authors of the games, they will be mercilessly cut off. And yet the same Asphalt 8 runs great at low / medium settings. WoT Blitz is coming too - you can easily "hunt" on a warm May evening.

Synthetic test results.

There are no questions about the wireless modules, everything works fine. Even navigation, which you really don't expect from a smartphone of this class, and even on the MediaTek chipset. Usually you expect only glitches from such devices (only slightly more expensive, since the closest competitors of Vertex cost from 3,500 rubles), but with Vertex Impress Luck everything works more or less normally.

Autonomous work

2200 mAh battery gives one and a half to two days of work. Is it a lot? Is it not enough? This, of course, is not the ultimate dream, but pretty good. Even expensive flagships usually do not work anymore. So Vertex Impress Luck has everything within the market average. Well, let me remind you once again that the battery is removable. You can buy another battery (it will cost 500 rubles) and use it in turn with the one that comes with the kit.

Output

The first for the price is what the developers at Vertex call Impress Luck. Yes, the device, with its price of just over 3000 rubles, is really the cheapest on the market. The cheapest - but obviously not the worst. He is very decent, if not "good". The body is like, the screen is the second like, the hardware is like again, the battery is no better and no worse than others, the software is also like. Dislike only for cameras, but cameras are not an easy thing, even smartphones for 10,000 rubles do not always take pictures well.

That's all for me, make smart purchases and enjoy new acquisitions.

I express my special gratitude to the administration of the Experts Club for the opportunity to post this review.

Positioning

The previous Luck did not support 4G networks, did not have NFC, but at the same time had one of the most affordable prices on the market for a 5-inch device. By the end of 2018, it could be bought for 3,500 rubles, which made it one of the most popular and affordable devices. For example, at MegaFon this model became number one in sales at the end of the year. They tried to make the updated model no worse, but add NFC and 4G support there. For a budget Android smartphone, the choice of operating system version is obvious - Android Go. Small memory size, rather modest performance, but all this for little money, you can't expect much from the device.

Considering that the ruble exchange rate jumped throughout 2018, previous models remained on the market, they were slowly washed out. Against their background, the new items seemed indecently expensive, the same Luck 4G NFC costs 5,490 rubles. You remember the situation at the beginning of 2018, and it seems that for this money you could buy something more interesting. But the problem is that a year later the prices have changed, and more productive solutions start at 7,000 rubles, here you can find models with 2 GB of RAM, and this parameter is becoming the main one for such devices.

In my opinion, Luck 4G NFC is an example of one of the most inexpensive smartphones with 4G and NFC, it was in this capacity that it was conceived. How important these parameters are for the consumer is a question, but there is no need to expect any Android Go smartphone to be comfortable, these are always performance flaws. Let's take a look at the pros and cons of the device.

Design, dimensions, controls

The model is available in two colors - classic black and dark blue. In both versions, the backrest is made of velvety plastic, very pleasant to the touch. Look at the blue color, I like it. Bright, attractive and somewhat youthful device, well suited for children.

Surprisingly, they retained the row of touch keys here, apparently so as not to take up space on the screen, which is not so large. The back cover is removable, under it you can see slots for two nanoSIM cards, as well as memory cards. The build quality of the device is excellent, there are no complaints about it. This distinguishes the model from many analogues in this price group.

On the right side there is an on / off button and a volume rocker in the same place. The microphone is placed on the bottom end, and on the top - microUSB connector, as well as 3.5 mm.

Display

The technical characteristics of the screen are as follows: 5 inches, 480x854 pixels, IPS, automatic brightness control. The screen has small viewing angles, but when viewed directly, the picture is quite bright and saturated. Supports up to two simultaneous clicks. In the sun, the picture fades, but remains readable (due to winter time, there was no very bright sun, but I don't think the screen will show itself somehow unusual here). The fact that there is adaptive brightness control is a big plus, usually in models of this class this feature does not exist.

Battery

The battery in this phone is removable, the capacity of the Li-Ion battery is 2000 mAh, which gives us up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 130 hours of standby time. Charger 5V / 1A, full charge takes about 2 hours.

Due to the chipset used, the operating time of the device strongly depends on the tasks that you entrust to it. For example, when making calls, SMS, messengers, the device lives quietly for one day. But if you are actively watching videos or playing casual games (and others will not go here), then it will take half a day at most, it will be discharged before our eyes. Savvy users will get up to two days of work with an hour of calls.

Video playback time at maximum brightness (HD video in MX Player) is 4 hours. Which, considering the chipset, isn't that bad at all.

Memory, platform, performance

The device is built on the MediaTek MT6739 platform (4 Cortex A53 cores up to 1.28 GHz, PowerVR Rogue GE8100 graphics coprocessor). The processor cannot be called efficient, it is quite "dead" in conjunction with memory. The screen shows slow opening of applications, they freeze, and heavy applications do not open at all. This is a minus of Android Go and the hardware that is used in most of these first-price models. You have to pay for everything, in this case the low cost has a downside.

Unfortunately, the AnTuTu test has recently refused to work on many models, this one is no exception, so this test was not.

The amount of RAM is 1 GB, which is extremely small even for Android Go. The built-in memory is 8 GB, of which about 2.5 GB is available to you. You can install memory cards up to 32 GB or cards up to 128 GB, but then they will need to be formatted in the phone.

Communication capabilities

4G support is implemented fine, but don't expect prohibitive speeds, everything is quite simple. The GPS work does not give rise to any complaints, everything works well, but there are delays during navigation, this is due to the overall system performance. Wi-Fi has support for the second band, which is unusual for a budget device (however, the presence of VoLTE is just as unusual). There is NFC, with which you can set up Google Pay, read the Troika card, and so on. Everything works without any problems or flaws. For a budget device, the presence of NFC is extremely unusual.

Camera

The front camera is 2 megapixels, no autofocus. The quality of the photos is very, very bad, however, see for yourself.

The camera interface is very simple, the main module is 5 megapixels, while the photo quality also leaves much to be desired. You can also see this for yourself.

Sample photos

Software

There is nothing to say, this is a standard Android 8.1 Go Edition, you should not wait for updates to new versions, but at the same time security updates come to this device constantly, which can only be welcomed. Standard applications from Google have a Go prefix, these are their lightweight versions.

The device has a built-in FM-radio, it works only with headphones, as they act as an antenna. There is also a file manager and a voice recorder.

Impression

The phone's ringtone is good, you can hear it from the outerwear. You don't always feel the vibrating alert. The connection quality is good, there are no complaints. Yes, this is a budget device, but everything is fine with the connection.

There are many models on Android Go on the market in the budget segment, most recently we had an Alcatel 1, it is very similar to the Luck 4G NFC in question, but it does not have NFC support, although the platform and many characteristics are similar.

At 4,000 rubles, the Alcatel 1 looks more interesting if you don't need NFC. The design of the devices and the aesthetics are different, but the performance and capabilities are, plus or minus, comparable. Most C-brands have offerings at about the same price as the Luck, but lack NFC. And here you need to decide what you need and how much, and if you plan to use mobile payments, then there are no alternatives as such. If not, then you can look at other parameters, of which the battery and appearance become the main ones.

If you add a little and look at devices that cost from 7,000 rubles, you will get fundamentally different possibilities - different performance, more memory, a fingerprint sensor, better screens. The Impress Blade can be a great model in this segment.

On the other hand, if there are budget constraints, then it might make sense to look at 3G devices and the usual Luck, which costs about 3,500 rubles.

Today, a relatively recently released Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone came to my review. This model is based on the once very popular budget Vertex Impress Luck. Only the hardware platform has undergone changes, while the appearance has remained unchanged. The hero of today's review, in comparison with its predecessor, has got a more powerful processor, faster internet, and an NFC module. Let's rather take a look at what a budget smartphone is capable of, the cost of which at the time of the publication of the review in the company's official online store is 5,500 rubles.

Packaging and delivery set

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) comes in a small black cardboard box. The box contains a color image of the smartphone itself, as well as its detailed technical specifications and the package contents. The box is sealed by the manufacturer.

The package includes a rechargeable battery, USB cable, wall charger, user manual and warranty card. The smartphone screen is protected by a transport film, which indicates the main features of this model.

I note that the charger is included in the kit for 5V 1A, the vast majority of smartphones are equipped with such. Therefore, if necessary, finding a replacement for it will not be difficult.

Unfortunately, there are no additional accessories, not even a screen protector, in the kit. However, it is pleasant to note that there are still protective glass and a cover for this model on sale.

Appearance

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone received an entirely plastic case, it would be simply stupid to expect glass or metal in this price segment. But the back cover of this model has a soft-touch coating resistant to various dirt. And it is very convenient and pleasant to hold a smartphone with such a coating in your hand. The dimensions of the smartphone are 144x73x9.5 mm and weighs 290 grams. Using the Vertex Luck NFC (4G) with one hand is quite comfortable, well, at least for an adult.

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is available in two colors, with a black or blue back. The side frames of the screen are black in both cases.

Most of the front panel of the smartphone is occupied by a 5 "screen with an aspect ratio of 16: 9, I will discuss it in more detail in the next section of the review. Above the screen are the earpiece, front camera, light and proximity sensors, and a flash. I would have preferred to see an LED indicator of missed events, but the manufacturer decided that a flash would be more appropriate here.

There are three non-backlit touch buttons under the screen.

Connectors for connecting a charger and wired headphones are placed on the upper end of the smartphone body.

A microphone is located at the bottom end of the body. Also on one of the corners there is a small indentation to help remove the back cover.

The volume control keys, as well as the power / lock keys of the smartphone are located on the right side edge of the case. Note that the buttons protrude slightly from the case, which makes them very convenient to use.

On the back of the smartphone are the main camera with flash, a multimedia speaker and the manufacturer's logo. The back cover itself is removable. On the inside is the NFC antenna of the module.

Under the back cover there is also a removable battery, two slots for nano-SIM cards, and a slot for a microSD memory card.

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is a pleasant experience when used. It is perfectly assembled, the side buttons do not play, and the back cover does not creak or bend when pressed. The dimensions and weight of the smartphone make it easy to use with one hand. And thanks to the practical Soft-touch coating, Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) not only looks great, but is also less susceptible to various dirt. In general, he receives a clear credit for his appearance.

Screen

Smartphone Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) received a budget 5 "screen with a resolution of 854x480 pixels. However, the matrix is \u200b\u200bmade using IPS technology and has good color rendition and excellent viewing angles. In sunny weather outside, the brightness of the screen backlight is noticeably lost, but still it remains readable.

In the presence of a light sensor, respectively, it is possible to adaptively adjust the brightness of the screen backlight.

The sensor recognizes only two simultaneous taps on the screen. On the other hand, this is more than enough for a budget smartphone.

In general, the screen is not bad for this price segment. It has good color rendition, the brightness of the backlight is adjustable within a fairly wide range, and I did not notice any obvious defects when viewing various content. Of course, I would like at least HD resolution, but I think that then this model would have cost a little more.

Software

Powered smartphone Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) running Android 8.1 operating system. Naturally, it is possible to receive up-to-date software updates over the air.

Stock launcher, there is a minimum of software garbage in the firmware.

There are a lot of wallpapers preinstalled for the desktop, so everyone can choose something to their liking.

It is possible to edit the status bar.

Out of the box, the interface works smoothly, delays when launching applications are minimal, no freezes of the smartphone were noticed during testing.

Smartphone at work

At the heart of the Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone is a bundle of a MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The processor operates at a maximum frequency of 1.5 GHz. The graphics subsystem is represented by the PowerVR GE8100 accelerator.

Despite the fact that the smartphone belongs to the budget segment, its hardware component allows you to play modern games quite comfortably, albeit at medium or minimum graphics settings.

I note that with such a load, there is a moderate heating of the case in the area of \u200b\u200bthe main camera, but there is no drop in the performance of the smartphone.

As for the built-in memory, the Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) has only 8 GB of it on board. Out of the box, a little more than 5 GB is available for the user's needs, the rest of the memory is occupied by the operating system files and pre-installed software. Also, the smartphone has support for microSD memory cards.

The set of sensors consists of an accelerometer, light and proximity sensors. They work correctly, I did not have any complaints about them during the testing of the smartphone.

I was also pleased with the work of the navigation module. In open areas, the cold start is almost instantaneous. The smartphone is quite suitable for the role of a navigator.

As I said at the very beginning of the review, this smartphone supports fourth-generation networks. The results of testing data transfer rates turned out to be very good, the maximum that we managed to get is 43.7 Mb / s for reception and 19 Mb / s for transmission (Khabarovsk, mobile operator - YOTA).

Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) is equipped with a pair of SIM card slots, while both slots support 4G. During conversations, this model showed itself on the positive side, no questions arose either to the spoken dynamics or to the microphone.

One of the main features of a smartphone is the presence of an NFC module, which, among other things, allows making contactless payments in stores or public transport. To do this, you just need to install the Google Pay application and save your bank card details in it.

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone does not belong to long-livers, it is equipped with a rather modest 2000 mAh battery. In the calls + messengers mode, the battery charge is enough for one working day, and if you load your smartphone with games, then you should not count on an autonomy of more than 3-4 hours.

Camera

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone received a 5 megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. Both cameras are equipped with flashes, but have a fixed focus.

The quality of the pictures is quite enough to capture something if necessary.

Also, the main camera allows you to record video in FullHD resolution at 30 fps, the output file format is * .3gp. It turns out, in fact, quite good.

Output

The Vertex Impress Luck NFC (4G) smartphone is a typical budget device, but it turned out to be quite good. The model has a couple of interesting chips in its arsenal. The main advantages of this model are support for fourth-generation networks and the presence of an NFC module. Yes, while the smartphone has a low screen resolution, there is relatively little memory on board and cameras without autofocus, but due to this, we managed to keep its cost. In addition, this model does not look cheap, the smartphone is pleasant and convenient to use.

You open the news about smartphones on specialized sites - and you see the same thing. Samsung flagships, Sony flagships, LG flagships, iPhone X ... Everything is written about them only. That is, about devices with a price of 30-60 thousand rubles and more. Of course, reading about such models is interesting. But then Russians go to stores and most often buy completely different devices.

The situation in the MegaFon retail network is indicative. According to the results of the pre-New Year sales at the end of 2017, the first place was taken not by the Galaxy S8. And not the iPhone X. And not any other flagship. Vertex Impress Luck became the first in terms of sales in pieces. This particular model turned out to be the best-selling model in MegaFon. Which is not surprising: the price of a smartphone is 3.5 thousand rubles. Thus, this is the most affordable device on the Russian market: there are analogues, but they are several hundred rubles more expensive. However, what does it mean - analogs? For that kind of money, smartphones are usually offered from cheap plastic, nondescript and with old versions of Android. Such, which in real life is not only difficult to use (because of the brakes), but frankly unpleasant. As they say, it's a shame to get it out of your pocket.

Vertex Impress Luck is not like that at all. Even despite the lowest price, the first for the Russian market. It looks quite decent, well-built and carries on board not outdated Android 5.1 or 6.0, as in the "competitors", but Android 7.0. Also, of course, not the latest version, but - quite relevant. In general, Vertex has turned out to be such an interesting "ultra-budgetary": it manages to be the first in price, but at the same time it is far from the weakest in terms of characteristics and design.

ABOUTVertex

For order - a few words about the Vertex brand. It seems that readers will be interested to know who released the best-selling device for New Year's sales (that is, one of the most popular smartphones in Russia at the end of 2017). Vertex ranks sixth in sales of smartphones in the Russian market - as they say, find out and be surprised. Many people believe that the top ten leaders consist mainly of large international brands. But no, everything is different. Vertex is the sixth in Russia. And it overtakes Sony, HTC, Micromax and ZTE. And also Vertex is the first in terms of sales among all Russian brands of smartphones.

Vertex has a specific device design and quality control policy. As for the design, we can say this: the brand does not offer faceless and externally unpleasant smartphones at all. Despite the low prices, every Vertex device has its own flavor. And Vertex Impress Luck also has it (we will definitely return to this issue below). With the quality control of smartphones it is still more interesting. Vertex is proud to say that the defect rate in their smartphones does not exceed 2%. And this is really extremely, very little. Usually local Russian brands are very friendly with marriage. The share of defective smartphones often exceeds 10%. In general, on the market, if we take into account large respected companies, the defect rate is around 5%. That is, 5% of all manufactured devices have one or another defect. 5% - the average probability that you will be "happy" with a defect in the purchased smartphone immediately after buying it or within a couple of days. This is the average for all, but not for Vertex.

So Vertex with quality is really tip-top - a pitiful 2% versus 5% and even 10%! Vertex is the first in quality among budget smartphone manufacturers.

And one moment. Vertex is creative in shaping its smartphone lineup. There are no dozens of walk-through models, as is the case with many second-tier brands, in the Vertex line of smartphones. There are only smartphones with a twist. Some models are the first on the market by some parameter, others are the most. For example, Vertex Impress Tor and Impress Grip are the first budget protected smartphones in Russia based on Qualcomm chipsets (USA). Due to this, high-quality navigation and low power consumption are ensured, which is very important for secure smartphones (after all, tourists and travelers usually take them). Vertex Impress Luck, in turn, belongs to the category of "most". He, as mentioned above, is the most affordable smartphone on the market - 3.5 thousand rubles.

Equipment

It is as simple as possible: instructions, a warranty, a MicroUSB cable and a 1 A charger. From it, the Vertex Impress Luck charges 100% for about two hours.

Appearance and design

On the one hand, Vertex Impress Luck looks pretty simple - it doesn't have any very bright elements. Just because of the budget nature of the device.

On the other hand, the back of the model is very similar to the iPhone 5c. There was once such a plastic device, positioned as the most inexpensive Apple smartphone. So the Vertex Impress Luck - both in feel and in the design of the back panel, resembles this very iPhone 5c. And no, we are not talking about direct mindless copying. It's just that the proportions and design of the back are very similar. And for a smartphone for 3000 rubles, this is a very compliment. I must admit that the Vertex Impress Luck is the first budget smartphone in many years, which really pleased with its design.

Moreover, the Vertex Impress Luck is much more pleasant to the touch than the iPhone 5c and many other inexpensive plastic Android smartphones. The fact is that almost all of them have hard plastic back covers. Whether it's matte or glossy, it's a similar material and looks cheap and not very pleasant to the touch. Vertex Impress Luck is different: it has a rubberized back panel, a bit velvety. And just very pleasant. You don't even expect that a smartphone for 3000 rubles can provide such a positive tactile sensation. But it is exactly so!

The back of the smartphone houses a camera, flash and speaker. The latter provides good sound. You should not, of course, wait for the sound of some iPhone X. And nevertheless, Vertex Impress Luck sings quite loudly, and without annoying hoarseness, as is often the case with devices with an ultra-low price tag.

Above the display, the Vertex Impress Luck houses a proximity sensor, speaker and front camera. Everything is simple here: the sensor turns off the screen correctly and in time when you bring the smartphone to your ear, and the speaker clearly transmits speech. The camera, accordingly, allows you to take selfies. We will return to the quality of images and photo capabilities below in the corresponding section. What the model lacks is a light sensor. Therefore, auto adjustment of the screen brightness is not possible.

Under the screen there are three touch-sensitive control buttons. It is a pity that they lack backlighting. In the dark, you have to poke at random. At first, it interferes significantly, but after a couple of days you get used to it. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that there is no button illumination for much more expensive smartphones - for example, some Xiaomi have a price of 10 thousand rubles. So the device for 3 thousand is quite forgivable. Although, again, not particularly pleasant.

The back panel of the Vertex Impress Luck is removable. The battery is also removable. This is good: in which case, after several years of using the smartphone, you can buy a new battery and use it for several more years. Most modern smartphones have built-in batteries. And they can only be replaced at a service center, and even then not always.

We remove the battery from the Vertex Impress Luck - and we get access to three slots at once. Two for SIM-cards of the MicroSIM format, and in the third you can insert a MicroSD card. It's great that the Vertex Impress Luck has separate jacks. This is extremely rare today. Most often, smartphones can insert either two SIM cards, or one SIM card and microSD. In the hero of this review, such an annoying limitation is absent. Despite, again, at the first price on the market.

A MicroUSB port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack are located on the top edge of the case. An important point: the jacks are spaced apart, and it is quite possible to connect the "ears" when the smartphone is charging. This is an important point, since ports in cheap devices are often located nearby. So close that you can't plug in a cable and headphones at the same time. Vertex Impress Luck does not have this problem.

The volume rocker and power button are on the right. The keys are comfortable, they walk clearly in their grooves. Note that the volume rocker is divided into two parts by a small notch. Which is very convenient: it makes it easier to grope the top and bottom halves. In general, it should be noted that in terms of ergonomics, the device has many such thoughtful little things. What, I repeat once again, you can’t expect from a smartphone with the first, lowest price on the market.

Summing up the impressions of the case: Vertex Impress Luck is extremely neatly assembled, it is very comfortable and looks more expensive than it costs. Such sensations could be expected from a smartphone for 5-6 thousand rubles, but Vertex Impress Luck is half the price!

Display

The smartphone uses a 5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The screen is made using IPS technology, which guarantees pleasant color reproduction and wide viewing angles. By the way, it's great that IPS is used in Vertex Impress Luck. Often, ultra-budget devices still have cheap TN screens, which give a much less pleasant picture.

Curiously, in the settings of the Vertex Impress Luck there was a whole set of tools for adjusting the image. For example, you can manually adjust contrast, saturation, color temperature. In a word, completely adjust the picture on the screen for yourself.

The front of the smartphone is covered with glass. Often in budget models, plastic is used, moreover, rough. Because of this, sliding your finger across the display is unpleasant. In the case of Vertex Impress Luck, we see an absolutely smooth surface. This is a big plus.

Hardware platform

The 4-core MediaTek MT6580 chipset is a time-tested and reliable solution. It is not mega-productive, but it provides quite decent work speed. Neither the Android interface, nor browsers, nor social media clients slow down. There is not much RAM in the device, 1 GB, but the screen resolution is also low - 480 x 854. All this in total ensures a normal operating speed. So the Vertex Impress Luck is a smart phone as well.

Moreover, on Vertex Impress Luck you can even play modern toys with a decent level of graphics quality. Here's a smartphone for 3 thousand rubles!

For example, let's take a video Mortal Kombat X - this is just a serious and full of dynamic scenes modern game with 3D graphics. I did not record any brakes in it. The Vertex Impress Luck hardware handled the graphics without problems.

In benchmarks, the smartphone demonstrates an expectedly small number of points. And this is normal: did you think that a device for 3 thousand rubles would be able to compete on equal terms with some Samsung Galaxy S9, which costs about 60 thousand? And yes, do not forget that all these points do not play a huge role in practice. Yes, Vertex Impress Luck does not have very many points. But it works fast and allows you to play games. What else is needed?

Communication

Unfortunately Vertex Impress Luck does not support LTE. But this is absolutely expected for a smartphone with the first, lowest price. Models for 4G networks are on sale in thousands of 6. So, we repeat, there is nothing to complain about. Well, in 3G networks, our hero works fine.

There are no problems with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth either. As with navigation. The smartphone found 9 satellites in less than a minute and was adequately guided by them. For a budget model, this is a very positive point: quite often, for smartphones with price tags of the “below the baseboard” level, GPS works very badly. But Vertex Impress Luck is good. The device can be used as a navigator both in the car and outside it.

Here, perhaps, we add that the Vertex Impress Luck has an FM radio. It works only when headphones are connected (they act as an antenna) and allows you to record the broadcast.

Autonomous work

Vertex Impress Luck is equipped with a 2200 mAh battery. Since the device has a low-resolution screen, and the chipset is simple and economical, the battery life reaches about three days. This is if you do not watch the video and do not play. If you do this, then you can count on a day and a half. Which is also pretty good for the most inexpensive Android smartphone.

Once again, we add that the battery of the Vertex Impress Luck is removable. So after a few years, when the supplied battery loses its capacity, you can buy another one. And install it yourself without resorting to the non-free help of the masters from the service center.

Cameras

Since the device is ultra-budget, it is at least short-sighted to expect incredible photo opportunities from it. Color reproduction, of course, is far from ideal. Clarity is also sometimes lame. But with the rear 5MP camera, text can be photographed. And then it will not be at all difficult to make out in the pictures.

Front camera 2 megapixel. Let's just show an example of a snapshot taken with it:

The interface for shooting is quite user-friendly. There are many settings. If you wish, you can dig deeper into them and, possibly, achieve some improvement in the quality of the photo. But I repeat, you shouldn't count on miracles.

Software

Unlike many ultra-budget phones that come with older versions of Android 60 or 5.1, the Vertex Impress Luck comes with Android 7.0 Nougat. That is, it is quite relevant (although it is also far from the last; however, it is obvious that 7.0 is better than 6.0, or even more so 5.1).

The interface has remained standard - nothing has changed in Vertex. As a result, we see pure Android without unnecessary shells, which often only provoke glitches and brakes, without bringing any particular benefit.

There are a number of pre-installed applications. However, they can be easily removed, they are not firmly built into the firmware. For this, the guys from Vertex are well respected: often all this pre-installed stuff from smartphones cannot be removed. Junk only takes up precious memory (by the way, in Vertex Impress Luck this memory is 8 GB plus MicroSD).

In tinctures, gesture control was found. The most curious of them is turning on the screen by double tapping. This option is rarely found in smartphones, even in expensive ones.

There is support for over-the-air updates. While testing Vertex Impress Luck, another update just arrived. Of course, I put it on right away.

I did not find any innovations, so the developers probably just optimized something. And this, by the way, is very cool: manufacturers often abandon their budget smartphones immediately after the start of sales and do not release any updates for them.

Output

So, to begin with, we recall that the Vertex Impress Luck is the cheapest smartphone on the Russian market: it is sold for about 3,500 rubles. The nearest models cost about 4000. The difference seems to be not great, but for those who buy such ultra-budget models, every extra hundred is critical. So Vertex Impress Luck is interesting in this regard: it is 500 rubles cheaper than competitors. At the same time, the smartphone looks very decent - obviously more expensive than it costs. Vertex Impress Luck is the first budget device in the last five years, which personally pleased me with its design. In appearance, it can be estimated at 5 thousand. Plus, the similarity to the iPhone 5c gives it additional points. As well as a very pleasant to the touch back panel. As a rule, competitors have nothing of the kind. Although they are even slightly more expensive - for those same 500 rubles.

With the quality of Vertex, everything is also very worthy - do not forget that in terms of quality control and an ultra-low level of marriage, Vertex is the first among all manufacturers of budget smartphones. And yes, during testing, we did not have any complaints about the build quality of the Vertex Impress Luck, or the operation of the software, or anything else.

Among other features and benefits of Vertex Impress Luck, Android 7.0 is worth mentioning. Since many similar budget smartphones come with older versions 6.0 or 5.1. They are less convenient and consume more energy. The screen at Vertex Impress Luck, again, is decent: a good IPS-matrix is \u200b\u200bused, and not a faded cheap TN. In general, the benefits are a whole bunch. And the main one is that the Vertex Impress Luck is not perceived as a cheap low-quality device for very unassuming people. He never is. This is a worthy solution for economical comrades who want to buy a reliable item for a couple of years.

  • Nice design;
  • Normal build quality;
  • Performance sufficient for modern games;
  • Bright screen.
  • Photo quality with both cameras.
