Once the process of installing Windows 7 has already begun, I realize that there is no cursor on the screen at all, to be honest, I haven’t realized this yet. Having thought for a moment, I’ll launch the installation using the buttons, and then be surprised and the cursor will appear. So, having done everything with the keys, partitioned a new hard disk, as it says, and launched the installation. The operating system was installed, but after restarting the laptop nothing good happened. The cursor appeared, but the touchpad did not work, the cursor stood at the center of the screen and did not react in any way to my actions. What the… after thinking, I restarted the laptop again.
But nothing helped, apparently, there is a key on the laptop that turns on the touchpad, but it didn’t help. It’s logical to think that the OS is not up to the task here, since during the installation process there were problems with the touchpad.
Having tried to get hold of a copy of the Linux drive, then the touchpad didn’t work, and the cursor stood there. I was just starting to think that there was a technical problem with the touchpad, maybe not, maybe not. Just don’t give up yet.
And then I started looking at the BIOS and I’ll say before that I didn’t have mercy. I initially reset the BIOS to optimal settings, but it didn’t help.
So once again in such situations, I started Googling and found out what’s going on. And anything that would help me figure it out would have seemed like a hopeless problem.
Why doesn't the touchpad work? There seems to be a problem in the BIOS.
Here's how: go to the BIOS, on which laptop you can press the F2 key immediately after starting the laptop. If you have a different laptop, then perhaps there are different keys or combinations, which means that the axis of the article is readable, everything is written there.
Then go to the Advanced tab and use the up/down arrows to hover the cursor over the parameter "Internal Pointing Device". Then save the change by pressing the F10 key, confirm the saving and exit the BIOS by pressing “Esc”.
After re-installing the touchpad, I requested it, but I thought I would go missing on the right. The only thing I can’t understand is why Asus releases laptops with such incorrect BIOS parameters? This is an even rougher rebuke, though I’m so clear-headed, but I still forgot about it, and I lost all this vile siege.
