LG K7 X210DS Review: Budget Selfie Smartphone LG K7 - Specifications Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless transfer of data between various types of devices over short distances

LG introduced the K7 smartphone in January, and now it can already be found on sale. The device belongs to the budget line, while it has quite presentable characteristics. Today we will review the LG K7 smartphone and tell you more about it.

What's unique about the LG K7's design?

The device is positioned as a selfie phone. It is equipped with a front camera (5 MP), which allows you to take pictures by hand gesture. To capture a self-portrait, you need to show the camera an open palm, and then clench it into a fist. After that, the timer will start counting down - and your photo will be displayed on the screen. The main 8MP camera also has the ability to shoot by gesture and has a shutter function when you touch the screen.

Capture high-quality portraits even in low-light conditions. The selfie camera has a built-in virtual flash. It will provide lighting and allow you to take photos at any time of the day.

Another feature of the device is its raised back panel. He will not let the phone fall out of his hands. At the same time, fingerprints are not visible on the case. It is worth noting that the gadget is released in three versions - black, white and gold. On photo of Lji K7 phone you can see the first two have embossed panels, the gold one is completely smooth and matte.

The Lji K7 smartphone is equipped with a recently appeared function - Knock code. If earlier LG introduced the Knock on function, which allowed to unlock the screen with a double tap, now the user can independently set the unlock combination. You can come up with not only any rhythm and knock it out with your finger on the display, but also set up a specific place where the combination will work.

Now let's take a look at the rest of the characteristics of the LG K7. Let's start with the look. In addition to the embossed back panel, the smartphone has some peculiarity on the front side. The 5-inch TFT display has 2.5D glass with rounded edges. Dimensions LG K7 x210ds: length - 143.6 mm, width - 72.5 mm, thickness - 9.05 mm. At the same time, the device weighs 158.6 grams.

The removable battery has a capacity of 2125 mAh. You do not need to wait for the gadget to charge - just replace the dead battery with a charged one - and enjoy the possibilities of your smartphone further.

Quad-core 1.3GHz processor keeps the device responsive. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, built-in - 8 GB. The device can store data up to 32 GB if you insert a memory card into it. The phone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop.

How much does the LG K7 cost?

The price of the LG K7 device in Russia is on average 9990 rubles. You can already find it in many stores in the Russian Federation.

Today we present to your attention a review of the 2017 LG k7. What will please us with a fresh smartphone from a well-known company? Should you buy it for the price that is offered in the chains? let's deal with everything in order.

The phone comes in a minimalistic white box with the model name in black on the front and specifications LG k7 x230 2017... The kit includes:

  • Smartphone. Some of the device's functions are indicated on the shipping film: support for 4G, LTE, stylish design and hand gesture shooting.
  • The instruction is in Russian.
  • Warranty card.
  • Battery bag.
  • Power adapter with top outlet.
  • MicroUSB cable for connecting to a computer and charging.

There are no headphones in the package bundle. They will have to be purchased separately if they are needed.

Appearance

Lji K7 looks very stylish thanks to the corrugated plastic on the back. Previously, such surfaces were made, for example, by Samsung in their mobile devices. Thanks to this solution, the phone practically does not slip in the hand.

A plastic glossy edging runs along the perimeter of the gadget, which greatly reduces the cost of the appearance. On the left side is the volume control button. The right side by the decision of the engineers remained completely empty. Above is a 3.5mm headphone jack and an additional microphone. Below is the MicroUSB port and the main microphone for conversations.

On the front there is a 5-inch display, earpiece, front camera and proximity and lighting sensors. At the bottom of the display is the company logo. The front part is covered with Gorilla Glass to protect it from minor scratches.

Behind you can find:

  • main camera;
  • LED flash;
  • a button to turn the phone on and off (a very unusual solution);
  • company `s logo;
  • speaker slot.

The back cover of Lzh to 7 is removable. Under it is a battery of only 2500 mAh, which is quite small now. But the plus in removable mode is that, if necessary, you can change the battery yourself without going to the workshop. In addition, there are also two slots for NanoSim cards and a slot for a MicroSD card to expand the internal memory.

In general, the appearance of the smartphone turned out to be very pleasant and unusual.

Screen

The LG k7 x230 has a TFT display. The resolution is at 854 * 480 pixels, which is quite small for 5.5 inches. There are, of course, other complaints about the quality of the screen. Contrast drops at some angles, and a slight inversion occurs at others. Then the screen from above "turns yellow". "Multi-touch" for only 5 touches.

Around the display there are large black bezels, which looks a little outdated, but also makes the whole look cheaper. Even inexpensive gadgets from Chinese manufacturers do not have such frames, but here is LG.

Processor and operating system

The budget employee from LG is equipped with a quad-core Mediatek MT 6737m processor, which operates at a frequency of 1.1 GHz. It interacts with a video accelerator - Mali T720. When you buy, you can only count on 1GB of RAM. Again, predatory enough. The built-in memory is only 8 GB. Of these, about 5 GB is available to the user. You can expand using microSD.

How well does this hardware perform in modern games? In Real Racing 3, there is a display in the rearview mirrors. This indicates that the graphics here are at least at an average level. The drawing of the surrounding world is not very detailed.

In D-Trigger-2, the device works fine at an average level of graphics, which is already good. On most mid-range and budget Android devices, this game runs at "minimal". The graphics are also good. The smoothness of the process is not bad. At medium settings, GTA San Andreas will work on the device, as well as most other "heavy" games.

Games slow down a bit, they don't go as we would like. There is a slight drop in fps, but in general, you can play at low-medium settings.

The pre-installed operating system is Android 6.0, with which there will be no special problems. The work is smooth, the applications are responsive.

If we talk about autonomy, then there are no surprises. LG k7 keeps the battery in the same way as most modern devices - no more and no less. That is, the owner can count on the work of the state employee from morning to evening and put on "charging" at night, unless, of course, you have loaded him with games or watching videos on the network.

Camera

And finally, let's go through the cameras. There are usually two of them: the main camera is 8 megapixels and the front camera is 5 megapixels. You can get good pictures in the daytime, but nothing much more. This smartphone cannot boast of super-quality pictures. At dusk or at night, everything turns into a noise mess. Cameras are no worse or better than most competitors in their price segment.

An example of a shot with the main camera can be seen below.

conclusions

The cost of LG k7 x230 (2017) now hovers around 7,000 rubles. Quite a rather high price for such very budget characteristics in the form of 1 GB of RAM and a very average processor. You can look for more delicious options from Chinese competitors.

But if you want to buy a solid, inexpensive phone from a well-known brand with a stylish look without much desire to play mobile games, then the LG k7 is worth a look.

Video

A smart and reliable smartphone is cheaper than 6 thousand rubles, with a high-quality screen and ample opportunities for communication - is this possible? Yes, if we are talking about the updated model LG K7 (X230).

Stylish and monolithic state employee

As a rule, manufacturers do not pay much attention to the appearance of budget models. However, the 2017 LG K7 continues to uphold the South Korean brand's tradition of stylish design. The sculpted back in mocha or titanium is complemented by eye-catching metal inlays on the rounded edges. The smartphone feels great in the hand and can be easily operated with one hand.

It is worth noting a very interesting engineering move - the gadget is turned on using a round button under the camera. At first, this is a bit unusual, but you get used to such a decision in a matter of minutes.

It's worth buying a smartphone for the sake of excellent assembly. All parts fit tightly to each other, even with strong compression there are no backlashes and creaks. Although the LG K7 does not provide protection against damage, thanks to the firmly assembled body, it is not afraid of falls from low heights.

Strong hardware, clean software

The smartphone runs on the well-proven 4-core MediaTek MT6737M with a maximum clock frequency of 1.1 GHz. This chipset features ultra-low power consumption and stable performance even with large applications. Workflows are controlled by pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the most essential utilities preinstalled.

Thanks to optimized software and an energy-intensive chipset, a removable 2500 mAh battery can hold a charge under heavy loads during the day.

Advanced camera

Along with the update of the appearance, the LG K7 also received an upgrade of cameras for 8 and 5 megapixels. The photomodules of the smartphone are not only capable of producing high-quality images, but also received the functions of more expensive models. So, the selfie camera supports gesture shooting, when you just squeeze your palm, after which the camera will count down 3 seconds and take a picture. The cameras also provide virtual flash and one-touch shooting.

LG is a company known all over the world for a long time. She, like her South Korean competitor Samsung, produces a huge range of equipment. She has a large following of her premium G-series smartphones, which are considered to be some of the best on the market. But today we will not talk about them, but about the updated model of the budget K series - K7 2017.

So, we have before us the cheapest K-series smartphone. Let's take a quick look at the characteristics:

Display TFT
Display diagonal 5 inches, 196 ppi
Display resolution 854x480
operating system Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
CPU Mediatek MTK6737M, 4 cores
Video accelerator Mali-T720 MP2
RAM size 1 GB
Permanent memory capacity 8 GB
Memory card slot Yes, up to 32 GB
Main camera 8 MP, LED flash
Front-camera 5 megapixels
Number of SIM-cards 2, nanoSIM
Interfaces Wi-Fi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB 2.0, GPS / A-GPS
The fingerprint scanner No
Fast charging No
Battery 2500 mAh, removable
The weight 143 g
Overall dimensions 74x145x8.1 mm
Colors Brown, gray, dark gray

8 GB of constant and 1 GB of RAM, outdated MTK6737M processor, TFT screen ... Seriously? In 2017? The smartphone does not shine with specifications, to put it mildly. Well, let's see how he is in business.

Box and equipment

Supplied by LG K7 2017 in a faded blue box with the large name K7. It contains the smartphone itself, charger, USB cable, battery, manual and warranty card. Headphones, of course, are not, because we have an ultra-budgetary.

Housing

Outwardly, I must admit, the smartphone looks impressive. The grooved case back is made of polycarbonate, the edges are made of shiny metal. The lid is held by a set of plastic latches and when closed, the smartphone is a monolithic device. No backlash or creaks. The power button is located at the back, where the fingerprint scanner is usually located. This is quite unusual, because it is much more convenient to unlock the smartphone with a button on the side.

Screen

The screen resolution is awful even by the standards of a public sector 854x480 pixels. With a diagonal of 5 inches, this gives a density per inch of 196 points, which is very low. Pixels are visible to the naked eye. The screen itself is made using TFT technology, which also does not bring any advantages to the smartphone. The screen fades easily in the sun. The bezel around the display is huge.

Operating system and software

The smartphone is based on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Included are a set of applications from Yandex and Google. When navigating through the menus and settings, the smartphone periodically lags, sometimes you have to tap twice on the same menu item. This happens exactly until you download any application. As soon as you launch any more or less memory-consuming application, be it a navigator, maps, camera application or even a client from a social network, 1 GB of RAM immediately begins to manifest itself. Everything slows down, working with the camera is like torture. Stating the above, we can say with confidence that in the current realities one gigabyte of RAM is clearly not enough to work on Android 6.0.

Processor and memory

The already outdated MTK6737M with 4 cores on board with a frequency of 1.1 GHz acts as the heart of the smartphone. Not God knows what, but it matches the rest of the device's characteristics. The video accelerator Mali T720 MP2 works with it. The result in AnTuTu is appropriate (to be honest, we were surprised that this test even ran).

Permanent memory of 8 gigabytes, of which only 3.5 GB is available to the user. It can be expanded with a microSD card, but only with a maximum of 32 GB. In addition, the smartphone loses the ability to work with the second SIM card. The RAM, as noted above, is only 1 gigabyte, which is clearly not enough for a smartphone based on Android 6. When the device was turned on and the initial setup, the smartphone suggested updating. Perhaps, it has somehow greatly optimized the operation of the device, but we strongly doubt it.

Interfaces

The smartphone is equipped with a WiFi module, Bluetooth version 4.2, a GPS module with A-GPS support and a microUSB port. As mentioned above, you can insert a microSD card instead of a second SIM card. 3.5mm jack is also present. Standard kit for a smartphone. NFC, FM radio and fingerprint scanner, of course, no.

Battery

The battery in the device is removable. This is probably one of those few advantages that can be distinguished in this device. Its capacity is 2500 mAh, which is not an outstanding indicator. On the other hand, the consumption of a smartphone will be much less than its counterparts with more sophisticated processors and larger screens, so it should be enough for a day of use.

Sound and communication

The sound of the external speaker in the smartphone is surprisingly loud and clear enough. The sound in the headphones is satisfactory. When talking, the interlocutor is heard perfectly.

The smartphone supports LTE technology in Russian bands 7 and 20, which, in principle, is already an achievement for such a smartphone. The Internet works smartly.

Camera

The main camera resolution is 8 megapixels. It does not shine with quality and will only fit for photographing documents. Even on a sunny day, there are complaints about her work, not to mention shooting in low light conditions. Sometimes there are annoying autofocus misses.

Front camera resolution is 5 megapixels. There is nothing special to say, in all state employees they are approximately the same.

Outcome

What's in the conclusion? We will not dissemble and say that if this smartphone is good for anything, it is for a gift to the enemy. With the heightened appetites of modern operating systems and applications, the characteristics of this smartphone are clearly not enough to cope with them. In addition, it does not shine with the camera and display. Its only pluses - good design, good sound, removable battery, LTE, the ability to put two SIM-cards - are broken by its huge disadvantages in the form of performance.
