In universities, other educational institutions, in order to assess the knowledge of students, the quality of mastering the material in the studied disciplines, exams are held. To conduct exams, teachers develop exam tickets, which, as a rule, have a single form adopted at a specific university. For example, the Kherson National Technical University has adopted the form of tickets on A4 sheets (Fig. 1).

For the exam, an average of 30 tickets are developed, each of which contains 3-4 questions and an additionally attached picture. For example, at the special department "Technology of mechanical engineering" exams are held in about 20 disciplines, for which 20 × 30 \u003d 600 tickets are being developed with attached drawings. The work on creating 600 tickets is repeated every 4 years.

Having carefully looked at the accepted form of the examination card (Fig. 1), we can say with confidence that half of the teachers, with a computer and a Microsoft Word text editor, will not be able to cope with this work on their own. Preparing 600 tickets even for a well-trained IT employee will be a rather laborious job.

The issues of storing computer files with tickets, their integrity, security, availability and safety are also important.

Considering the above, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2006, a computer program for the formation of examination tickets (version 1) was developed, which was operated over the next 5 years and was popular among teachers and staff of the department.

Due to the peculiarities that have arisen, in January 2012, the 2nd version of this program was developed, the description of which is given below.

1. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM

1.1. Program composition

The program contains only 4 files (Fig. 2):

  1. Ekzam.exe - program boot file;
  2. Ekzam.gdb - program database, such as InterBase (FireBird);
  3. Ekzam_COPY - a copy of the database for official use;
  4. · Connect.ini - a test file that contains the path to the database.

The program has a network structure, consisting of a database and a network database management system (DBMS) FireBird, which allows you to remotely locate a single database on the server, where exam tickets for all disciplines of the department, faculty or university will be concentrated. A free database management system FireBird is installed on all computers.

The path to the Ekzam.gdb database file is written in the connect.ini text file.

For example, 192.168.82.129:k:\\Ekzam\\EKZAM.GDB,

where 192.168.82.129 is the IP address of the computer on the local network that hosts the Ekzam.gdb database file. When using the program on a local computer, the IP address can be omitted;

k: \\ Ekzam \\ EKZAM.GDB is the path to the Ekzam.gdb file on the computer in the local network where the Ekzam.gdb database file is located.

The database is organized in the form of six interconnected tables:

    University data;

    Faculty data;

    Information about the department;

    Data on disciplines and teachers;

    Information about exam tickets;

    Data on questions to the ticket.

1.3. Launching the program and its description

After entering the access password (Fig. 4), the main program window appears (Fig. 5).

The presented program interface is in Ukrainian, however, there is also a version in Russian.

When loading the program for the first time, you must enter the name of the educational institution, for example, "Kherson National Technical University". In the main menu of the program, select items<Настроювання>/<Параметри> (<Настройка>/<Параметры>), a window appears for entering the educational institution (Fig. 6).

In the left part of the main window of the program, there is a hierarchical tree containing information about the faculty, department and the disciplines read. Data is entered by clicking the right mouse button at the appropriate level of the tree (Fig. 7).

In the lower part of the main window, on the left, there is information about teachers, it is presented only for reading. It is introduced when adding a new discipline (Fig. 8).

A window with ticket numbers opens for the discipline selected in the tree (Fig. 5). Ticket numbers can be added, deleted, edited. For the highlighted ticket number, information with questions to the ticket opens (Fig. 9).

In the last field "Malunok" you can attach a picture to the question, which is entered into the database by double-clicking the mouse (Fig. 10).

Drawings are prepared in other programs such as Photoshop. Pictures can be of various formats: tiff, gif, jpg, pcx, bmp, ico, png, wmf, psd and others.

Questions for the ticket can be inserted into the database via the clipboard from a previously prepared file, such as txt, doc, etc. On the "Baby" ("Picture") field, pressing Ctrl + Left calls the picture viewing window (Fig. 11).

After entering the information, you can proceed to the formation of examination tickets through the main menu item "Friend" / "Druk biletiv". The report generator is activated, and we will see the exam tickets on the accepted forms (Fig. 12).

For the selected discipline, you can generate a list of questions to prepare for the exam through the main menu "Druk" / "Druk pitan" ("Print questions") (Fig. 13).

Pictures for the question of the examination card are printed separately through the main menu "Druk" / "Druk malunkiv" ("Print pictures") (Fig. 14).

1.4. Database Administration

When new and new records are added to the database, its size increases, and when records are deleted, the size does not decrease. To reduce the size of the database file, it is necessary to administer it through the main menu item "Database settings" / "Database administration" ("Database administration") (Fig. 15).

1.5. conclusions

At the Department of Engineering Technology, version 1.0 of the program was used for five years, and showed excellent results. The preparation time for exam tickets averaged 5 minutes including printing. Questions for tickets are easily edited, access to data is password protected.

Based on the foregoing, the program for preparing exam tickets (version 2.0) can be recommended for implementation in any educational institution and can be used both on a local computer and in a local network.
