Perfeo dvb t2 set-top box for digital tv. Correct connection and setup of DVB-T2 set-top boxes. What is needed for this

There is no need to buy a new TV to take advantage of digital sound and picture quality both in the city and in the countryside - all DVB-T2 set-top boxes Perfeo you can even connect to the "old" analog! All models are equipped with a USB port, can work as a media player and record terrestrial TV programs in digital quality on external media (PVR function), and also support the "delayed viewing" mode (TimeShift function) - now you can simply press the "Pause" button, and then continue watching TV from the same place.

In models PF-168-1 and PF-168-3 there is a built-in media player with support for all popular video formats, as well as a codec AC3 when playing media files with Dolby Digital sound. Both models are available in two versions: with an internal or external power supply.

Series of similar capabilities compact DVB-T2 set-top boxes Perfeo consists of models PF-120-1, PF-120-2 (both on Novatek 78336 processor) and PF-120-3 (based on MStar 7T01 processor) equipped with external power supplies. At very attractive prices, compact set-top boxes lack support for the AC3 codec, which will not prevent you from enjoying your favorite TV shows with an MP3 audio track. Two models - PF-120-1 and PF-120-3 - provide wall mount holes.

Ultra-compact prefixes PF-T2-1 and PF-T2-2 use the MStar 7T01 processor and are not inferior in functionality to their larger brothers. The PF-T2-2 version is powered by a USB connector (if there is no one on the TV, you can use an optional USB adapter), and the overall dimensions of the PF-T2-1 are only 83 x 46 x 18 mm, which allows you to hide this set-top box behind the TV case, mounted on a wall mount.

Allowing to watch digital television. Digital TV has many more advantages than conventional TV, which is why many are switching to it. And, of course, you need to start by choosing a receiver. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the manufacturer's brand, functionality, quality and, of course, price. Finally, having purchased a digital receiver, you need to prepare it for use. But how to do that? In this article, you will learn how to connect and configure DVB-T2 digital television. Let's figure it out together.

If you want to know how to set up a TV box, then this article is for you.

The first step is to connect all the elements together. There is nothing difficult in this, see for yourself. Connect the antenna to the receiver and the receiver to the TV. That's all - you're done! It is recommended to connect the set-top box via an HDMI cable, of course, provided that the devices have the appropriate inputs and connectors. If HDMI is not supported, please connect using regular tulips. With any model of the set-top box, the kit comes with an instruction, which clearly shows what and with what needs to be connected.

The functionality of the RF IN and Rf LOOP connectors should be noted separately. The cable coming from the TV antenna is connected to the “RF IN” connector, and “Rf LOOP” is the output of the signal received from the “RF IN” connector for its further transmission to other devices, that is, it can be called a replacement for “tees”.

Let's start connecting the device

Please note that the setup process is the same for all digital receiver models, so it doesn't matter which brand your set-top box is. Of course, the design of windows and some names of menu sections may differ slightly, but the general essence does not change.

First, the connection method is selected

After connecting the device, turn on the TV and set-top box. On the TV, you need to select the video input to go to the receiver menu. If everything is done correctly, then on the screen you will see a welcome window in which you will need to select the language, region, image mode and format, as well as the search mode. Set the required parameters using the console's remote control. You can leave the settings unchanged and leave them as default. Click "OK" to go to the next window.

The first dialog box on the screen

If “DVB-T + DVB-T2” is displayed in the “Search mode” section, then the receiver will immediately find all channels available for your region on its own. But this method will only work if you already have a working antenna pointing in the right direction. When auto search is finished, you can close the menu and enjoy watching. Other users need to position the antenna. There is nothing difficult in this, all that is needed is to make several settings in the receiver menu.

The list of available channels is loaded manually or automatically

In case you didn’t have an antenna earlier and it appeared only now, together with the DVB-T2 set-top box, being in the welcome window, press the button to call the menu on your remote control. Go to the “DVBT Setting” section and select “Channel Search”. In the window that opens, set the "Search mode". Here you can set both "by channel" and "by frequency". There is no big difference here - choose what you like best. Next, set the search bar "UHF".

To simplify the channel search process, visit a dedicated site with information on frequency channels for your specific city. In principle, it is not necessary to do this, you can do without it, but this approach will facilitate and speed up the setup process. Select the desired value in the "Frequency channel" item. If the direction was chosen correctly, then after a couple of seconds you will see the filled scales "Signal intensity" and "Signal quality" at the bottom of the window. If the level of the scales is good, then click "Search". The receiver will then tune in the specified frequency channel.

In the event that you do not know the desired direction of the antenna, take it and smoothly rotate it, observing the intensity and quality scales. Once they are filled to an acceptable level, secure the antenna and search. As soon as the process of tuning TV channels is completed, you can exit the menu and start watching.

Most models provide the ability to simultaneously connect via both RCA and HDMI connectors

If you are connected via both Tulips and HDMI at the same time, you can switch from one cable to another while watching. It is better to look through HDMI, since in this case the image quality will be much higher.

Now you can easily perform DVB-T2 yourself. As you can see, it is not difficult to understand this issue. Write in the comments if this article helped you and ask questions if some points remained unclear.

A small overview of a miniature device for watching TV in digital format DVB-T2.

We already have TVs and a digital TV tuner at home, but we got a Perfeo PF-T2-1 receiver in the store at a very attractive price, only 600 rubles! Double intrigue - diminutiveness and price played a decisive role in choosing this device.
In principle, modern receivers (they are also tuners) have little functionality in terms of functionality. Standard outputs are tulips and HDMI. Scheduled recording, Timeshift, currently 2 operating multiplexes (20 TV channels and 3 radio).
The main differences between the devices of this rapidly growing army are the dimensions, the convenience of the remote control and navigation buttons.
on the menu, as well as the speed of switching channels. The latest models increasingly support the AC3 codec, which is required to play sound in movies downloaded from the Internet. However, all tuners that I came across had raw software without the possibility of updating the firmware. In other words, to a greater or lesser extent, every tuner and TV has glitches, not working or malfunctioning functions.

Distinctive features of the Perfeo PF-T2-1 receiver

As already mentioned, the functionality of Perfeo PF-T2-1 standard. The main
the features are in the connectors and the connected wires:

  • The wire with "tulips" is connected to the device using the plug included in the kit.
  • The infrared receiver for operation with the remote control is not built into the case, but is connected separately.
  • The receiver has an external power supply, and the 5-volt adapter is not included in the package.
  • To connect a USB flash drive, you will also have to buy an adapter.

It is important to note that the so-called "OTG connector" has a non-standard format. Why this was done - God only knows. Take a look at the photo above. See the left connector labeled "USB"? You somehow need to connect a USB flash drive to it. You will not stick any flash drive and any fashionably called "OTG adapter" there. With the same success Perfeo engineers could solder some kind of RS-232 or LPT connector, which could not be implemented during the period of demand. The only way out is to buy connectors separately and solder the adapter yourself.

The power socket is round, if you do not plan to connect a USB flash drive, a 5 Volt 1 Ampere power supply will do. If you want to connect a USB flash drive, then you need a 5 Volt 2 Ampere unit. You can use mobile phone charging, since the adapter for connecting to the charger is included.

The external sensor of the IR remote control is attached with a double-sided Velcro strap in a place convenient for you. Also inside it there is a red-blue indicator that displays the operating mode of the receiver.

And now, all the wires are connected, the remote control is charged with batteries. Turn on autosearch of channels! The first channel was caught…. We are waiting ... Nothing changes on the screen for a long time, there is no reaction to the remote control either.
Blue screen - this is how the test of our Perfeo PF-T2 receiver ended. Neither re-switching nor dancing with a tambourine could bring him back to life. Out of curiosity, I took it apart, see what happened there ???

I think there is nothing more to write about - Perfeo has exceeded all expectations!

As a conclusion

… .. If the old basin were stronger, my story would be longer. (c)

Seriously, if you buy a 2-amp power supply and an ingenious "OTG" cable for a flash drive, there will be no gain at the price, but how long will the receiver itself last?

How to connect Perfeo PF-T2-1?

After writing the article, I was asked to explain how this receiver is connected. Indeed, the instructions for the device are rather meager, I did not come across the Perfeo PF-T2-1 connection diagram on the Internet, and I already handed over my copy. But I found a video (it is at the end of the article), where they show not ours, but a very similar model.

Video Notes:

1) At the beginning of the video, the USB connector (flat one, if anyone does not know) is stuck into the TV. I do not recommend doing this. More precisely, you can check the performance at the very beginning and in this way. Then I advise you to buy a charger. It looks something like this, the color and shape do not matter, the main thing is that there is such a rectangular connector as in the photo, and the current was 1.5 or 2 amperes. In extreme cases, 1 ampere is also possible.

2) "Tulips" (three multi-colored connectors) connect to the TV input. But old TVs may not have a red connector, then connect only white and yellow. If the TV has more than three tulip sockets, include in those with the inscription "INPUT" or "IN".

3) The infrared receiver (video time 1:45) of the Perfeo PF-T2-1 has a completely different connector - round and thin. It connects to the "IR IN" jack. Be sure to insert it all the way to the end, you may need to press harder. If you don't insert it all the way, nothing will work!
The infrared receiver should be facing with the dark red side towards us, and it should not be tucked behind the TV. Any objects on the way to the remote control will interfere with channel switching and tuning.

After turning on the TV and receiver, press the "menu" button on the remote control and select the channel setting on the screen, usually this item is called "Automatic program search".

The video is not Perfeo PF-T2-1, but everything is connected in the same way.
