How to find out the number of quotes in an image. How important is the number of flowers in a bouquet? What are we talking about numbers?

theory

The breakdown of the information system of a register graphic image (the amount of information that can be contained in a graphic image) is the basis for adjusting the number of pixels in that image and on the designated one depth of color (information value of one pixel).

In case of degeneration, the formula is vicorized V = i * k,

where V is the information of the registry graphic image, which is measured in bytes, kilobytes, megabytes;

k - the number of pixels (dots) in the image, which indicates a separate media source (monitor screen, scanner, printer);

i - color depth, which is expressed in bits per pixel.

glybina coloru the number of bits that are used to encode the color of the point is specified.

The depth of color is knitted with a number of colors with the formula

N=2 i, De N is the number of bits in the palette, i is the color depth in bits per pixel.

apply it

1. The computer’s video memory is 512 KB, the size of the graphics grid is 640 × 200, there are 8 colors in the palette. How many sides of a screen can be accommodated in a computer’s video memory at one time?

Decision:

We know the number of pixels in the image of one side of the screen:

k = 640 * 200 = 128000 pixels.

We know i (the number of colors, so how many bits are needed to encode one color) N = 2 i, then, 8 = 2 i, i = 3.

We know about the video memory required to accommodate one page on the screen. V = i * k (bit), V = 3 * 128000 = 384000 (bit) = 48000 (byte) = 46.875Kb.

If the computer's video memory is 512Kb, then you can simultaneously save 512 / 46.875 = 10.923 ≈ 10 entire sides of the screen in the computer's video memory.

proof: 10 sides of the screen can be saved in your computer’s video memory at once

2. As a result of the redesign of the raster graphic image, the number of colors changed from 256 to 16. How does this change the amount of video memory occupied by the images?

Decision:

Vikorist formula V = i * k i N = 2 i.

N 1 = 2 i1, N 2 = 2 i2, then V 1 = i 1 * k, V 2 = i 2 * k, then,

256 = 2 i1, 16 = 2 i2,

i 1 = 8, i 2 = 4,

V 1 = 8 * k, V 2 = 4 * k.

proof: The graphic image must be changed twice.

3. A color image of standard A4 size (21 × 29.7 cm2) is scanned. The scanner size is 1200dpi (dots per inch) and the color depth is 24 bits. What kind of information service will be used to remove the graphic file?

Decision:

1inch = 2.54 cm

i = 24 bits per pixel;

Let's convert the image dimensions into inches and find out the number of pixels k: k = (21 / 2.54) * (29.7 / 2.54) * 1200 2 (dpi) ≈ 139,210,118 (pixels)

Vikorist formula V = i * k

V = 139210118 * 24 = 3341042842 (bit) = 417630355byte = 407842KB = 398MB

proof: The size of the scanned graphic image is 398 MB

3. 256-color baby holds 120 bytes of information. How many points does it add up to?

4. Is 256 KB of video memory enough to operate the monitor in 640 × 480 mode and a palette of 16 colors?

5. What kind of video memory is necessary to save two sides of the image so that the separate size of the display is still 640 × 350 pixels, and the number of pixels is 16 ?

6. What kind of video memory is needed to save several sides of the image, since the bit depth is up to 24, and the display size is 800 × 600 pixels?

7. Video memory capacity is up to 2 MB, bit depth 24, separate display size 640 × 480. What is the maximum number of pages that can be used with these minds?

8. Video memory can be used to save 4-color images with a size of 640 × 480. Any size of image can be saved in the same video memory if you use a 256-color palette ?

9. To save raster images with a size of 1024 × 512, 256 KB of memory were added. What is the maximum possible number of colors in the image palette?

The task of distributing sound information

theory

The sound may have different levels of sound. The number of different levels is determined by the formula N = 2 i, where i is the depth of sound.

Sampling frequency - the rate at which the level of the input signal changes per hour (per 1 second).

The size of a digital mono audio file is calculated using the formula A = D * T * i,

de D - sampling frequency;

T - hour of sound or recording of sound;

i - register depth (depth of sound).

For a stereo audio file, the size is calculated using the formula A = 2 * D * T * i

Decision:

How to record a stereo signal

A = 2 * D * T * i = 44100 * 120 * 16 = 84672000bit = = 10584000byte = 10335.9375Kb = 10.094Mb.

How to record a mono signal A = 5MB.

proof: 10 MB, 5 MB

2. The amount of free memory on the disk is 0.01 GB, the capacity of the sound card is 16. What is the sound quality of a digital audio file recorded with a sampling frequency of 44100 Hz.

Decision:

A = D * T * i

T = 10737418.24 / 44100/2 = 121.74 (sec) = 2.03 (xv)

proof: 2.03 hv.

2. The installed device has a memory capacity of 2.6 MB. It is necessary to record a digital audio file with the trivial sound of 1 khvilin. What is the sampling frequency and bit depth?

3. The amount of available memory on the disk is 0.01 GB, the capacity of the sound card is 16. What is the sound quality of a digital audio file recorded with a sampling frequency of 44100 Hz?

4. One recording of a digital audio file takes up 1.3 MB of disk space, the capacity of the sound card is 8. At what frequency is the sound recording?

When designing the packages, it is recommended to apply simple images for decoration in no more than one to three colors. Please note that when the layout is created by a good designer, you will not appear on the site and will quickly serve advertising information, and in addition, you will be able to shorten the process and terms of marketing. You should also consider the possibility of adding colors in technological terms and selecting different types of equipment. Even though not all images are applied geometrically and do not lie on top of one another, often the colors are tightly connected to each other and they must be pressed together.

If you still need a little one with a large number of different colors, then it’s better to quickly get special equipment that allows you to paint multi-colored one on the bags. The principle of such machines is based on ultraviolet drying, since only UV-curable fabrics can be cured for a variety of colors. Obviously, this technology is based not only on the high risk of applying multi-colored images on the package, but also on other larger dots, which does not cover the sharpness of the picture, as on paper.

de

I- quantity of information

N the number of questions that can be set.

So, depending on the number of parameters that are set for an image point, N= 256, then the amount of information required for saving (depth of color) is consistent with R. Hartley’s formula. I= 8 bits.

Computers use different graphic modes of the monitor to display graphic information. Here it is necessary to note that in addition to the graphic mode of the monitor, there is also a text mode, in which the monitor screen is intelligently divided into 25 rows of 80 characters per row. These graphics modes are characterized by the resolution of the monitor screen and the color transmission speed (blue color).

To implement the graphic modes of the monitor screen, a necessary song Information about video memory computer (V), which is indicated in this connection

So, if the monitor screen has a separate size of 1024 by 768 pixels and a palette that consists of 65536 colors, then

glybina coloru stock I = log 2 65 538 = 16 bits,

Necessary information about video memory will remain up to date V = 786432 · 16 bits = 12582912 bits = 1572864 bytes = 1536 KB = 1.5 MB.

Files created on the basis of raster graphics allow saving data about the skin periphery of image points. To display raster graphics, you don’t need complicated mathematical procedures; you just need to take data about the image point (its coordinates and color) and display it on the computer monitor screen.

“Disparity” is one of the parameters that everyone follows, but few photographers understand it effectively. Photoshop supports 8, 16 and 32-bit file formats. Some of the files we download are designated as 24 and 48-bit. Our cameras often produce 12 and 14-bit files, although you can stream 16-bit with a medium format camera. What does it all mean, and what does it actually mean?

What is bitumen clay?

Before comparing the different options, let's first discuss what the name means. A bit is a computer unit in the world, which is used to save information in the form of 1 or 0. One bit can have only one of two values: 1 or 0, or neither. Either it is a pixel, it is either an absolutely black or an absolutely white color. Not even korisny.

In order to describe a larger color scheme, we can combine the decal bit. Every time we add beta, a number of potential combinations are combined. One bit has 2 possible values, 0 or 1. When combining 2 bits, you can have four possible values (00, 01, 10 and 11). If you add 3 bits, you can enter all possible values (000, 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110 and 111). And so on. By the way, the number of possible options will be two, reduced to the number of bits. Thus, “8-bit” = 2 8 = 256 possible integer values. In Photoshop, this is represented by seemingly whole numbers 0-255 (internal, double code 00000000-11111111 for a computer).

So “bit depth” means the smallest changes you can make within a given value range. Since our brightness scale from pure black to pure white has 4 values, if we take away the 2-bit color, we eliminate the possibility of vibrating black, dark gray, light gray and white. This is not enough for photography. As long as we have enough bits, we can have enough colors with a wide range of grays to create what we will look like a completely smooth gradient from black to white.

Below is the butt of a black-and-white gradient on a different concrete clay. This image is just a butt. Click on it to get images in full resolution in JPEG2000 format with a resolution of up to 14 bits. Depending on your monitor's wattage, you can certainly increase the difference up to 8 or 10 bits.

How to manage bitumen clay?

It would be easy if all the “concrete depths” could be easily equated, as well as certain differences in terminology that need to be understood.

Please note that the image is more black and white. A color image is usually made up of red, green and blue pixels to create a color. The skin of these colors is formed by the computer and monitor as a “channel”. Software programs, such as Photoshop and Lightroom, depend on the number of bits per channel. Thus, 8 bits means 8 bits per channel. This means that an 8-bit RGB image in Photoshop is a total of 24 bits per pixel (8 for red, 8 for green, and 8 for blue). 16-bit RGB images or LAB in Photoshop at 48 bits per pixel, etc.

You might assume that 16-bit means 16-bit per channel in Photoshop, but in this case it works differently. Photoshop actually uses 16 bits per channel. Prote, up to 16-bit images must be taken differently. Vin simply adds one bit to the 15-bits. This inode is called 15 + 1 bit. This means that replacing 2 16 possible values (which would equal 65536 possible values) results in only 2 15 +1 possible values, which becomes 32768 + 1 = 32769.

Thus, from the point of view of justice, it would be fair to say that Adobe's 16-bit mode actually replaces only 15-bit. Don't you believe it? Take a look at the 16-bit scale for Photoshop's Info panel, which shows a scale of 0-32768 (which means 32769 values when looking at zero. Why would Adobe bother? According to Adobe salesperson Chris Cox, this allows Photoshop to work much faster and will ensure accurate the midpoint for the range, which is brown for mixing modes.

Most cameras allow you to save files in 8-bit (JPG) or 12 to 16-bit (RAW). So why doesn't Photoshop classify a 12 or 14-bit RAW file as 12 or 14 bit? On the one hand, there would be even more resources for Photoshop work and changing file formats to support other bit depths. And opening 12-bit files in a 16-bit format does not actually cut into an 8-bit JPG, and then converting it to 16-bit. There is no significant visual difference there. Above all, there are great advantages of using a file format with additional data bits (as we will discuss later).

For displays, the terminology changes. Virologists want the characteristics of their possession to sound meticulous. Therefore, 8-bit display modes should be labeled as “24-bit” (since you have 3 channels with 8-bit output). In other words, “24-bit” (“True Color”) for a monitor is no more meaningful, but actually means the same thing as 8-bit for Photoshop. The shortest option would be “30-48 bits” (so called “Deep Color”), which would be 10-16 bits per channel, although for those with more than 10 bits per channel, it’s overworld.

How many bets can you earn?

With a pure gradient (from the brightest minds), you can see a lot of darkness in a 9-bit gradient, which will put 2048 shades of gray on a good display with a hint of deeper color Zhenya Kolyu. The 9-bit gradient is extremely weak, but noticeable. If you didn’t know about his dream, you wouldn’t have bothered him. And if you marvel at something new, you won’t just tell where the skin color is. The 8-bit gradient is remarkably easy to learn, so you won’t be surprised at anything, although you can still not notice it, so you won’t be surprised. In this way, we can say that a 10-bit gradient is visually identical to a 14-bit one or more.

If you want to create your original file in Photoshop, the Gradient Tool can create 8-bit gradients in the 8-bit document mode, or if you convert the document to 16-bit mode, then Would you like to use an 8-bit gradient? . However, you can create a new gradient in 16-bit mode. However, it will be converted to 12-bit. The program does not have a 16-bit option for the gradient tool in Photoshop, but 12-bit is no longer sufficient for any practical work, since it allows 4096 values to be used.

Don't forget to turn on smoothing in the Gradient panel, as this is best suited for testing.

It is also important to note that you will likely experience a milky “sweetness” when viewing the image at a much lower 67%.

Should you vikoristovat more bits, can you help yourself?

Why do we have options, more than 10-bit in our cameras and Photoshop? If we did not edit the photographs, there would be no need to add more information than the human eye can see. However, once we start editing photos, previously registered entries can be easily removed from the list.

If we want to brighten the shadows or darken the highlights, then we will increase the dynamic range. And then any shortcomings will become more obvious. In other words, increased contrast in the image results from a change in depth. If we have to turn the parameters too much, some areas of the photo may become dark. You will be shown the transition between the quarters. Such moments begin to appear prominently in the clear blue sky or in the shadows.

Why do 8-bit images look the same as 16-bit images?

When converting a 16-bit image into an 8-bit one, you will not notice any difference. So, is it time to use 16-bit?

Everything on the right is in smooth editing. When working with curves or other tools, you get more opportunities to correct tones and colors. Transitions will be smooth in 16 bits. Therefore, although the difference may not be immediately obvious, switching to a smaller bitumen color can become a serious problem later, when editing the image.

So how many active bits do you need in a camera?

Changing 4 stops to ensure that you spend a little more than 4 bits. Changing 3 stops of exposure is close to spending 2 bits. How often do you have to greatly alter the display of a table? When working with RAW, correction up to +/- 4 stops is not an extreme and rare situation, but it is also lost, so it is necessary to add 4-5 bits above the visible range to allow for a reserve. With a normal range of 9-10 bits, with a reserve the norm can be approximately 14-15 bits.

In reality, you probably won’t require such a great amount of data for so many reasons:

  • The situation is not so rich if you maintain an ideal gradient. The sky is clearer, most likely, the most common butt. All other situations involve a large number of details and the transitions are not smooth, so you will not see a difference with different bit depths.
  • Your camera's precision is not high enough to ensure accurate color reproduction. In other words, there is noise in the image. Through this noise, it will be much easier to make transitions between quarters. It turns out that real images cannot display color transitions in gradients, since the camera cannot display the ideal gradient that can be created programmatically.
  • You can see the transitions of questions under the post-processing hour using additional Gaussian distribution and noise addition.
  • A large supply of bits is required only for extreme tonal corrections.

Taking everything into consideration, 12-bit sounds like a very reasonable level of detail, which allows for advanced post-processing. Proteus, the camera and the human eye react differently to light. The human eye is more sensitive to shadow.

The important fact is that there is a lot lying around in the programs you use to process the post. For example, when you extract shadows from the same image in Capture One (CO) and Lightroom, you can see different results. In practice, it turned out that deep shadows are more preferable, the lower analogue in Adobe. In this way, if you are in LR, you can be insured for 5 stops, and in CO - only for 4.

However, it is best to try to extract more than 3 stops of dynamic range through noise and change the color tone. 12-bit, crazy, smart choice. If you are concerned about brightness and not file size, then shoot in 14-bit mode, as your camera allows.

How many times does it take to vikorize in Photoshop?

On the display stand, it is clear that 8-bit is not enough. You can immediately enhance the transitions of the lines in smooth gradients. And even if you don't think so, modest adjustments can have a noticeable effect.

Varto run at 16 bits if your output file is 8-bit, for example, an image in JPG. The 16-bit mode will give better results, but will allow you to minimize transitions when editing.

There is no point in using 32-bit mode as long as you are not processing the HDR file.

How many bits does the Internet require?

The advantages of 16 bits lie in the expanded editing capabilities. Converting the residual edited image to 8 bits is perfect for reviewing photos and can be used for creating small files for the Internet for greater viewing. Make sure smoothing is enabled in Photoshop. When you use Lightroom to export to JPG, the smoothing is automatically processed. This helps to add a little noise, which is responsible for minimizing the risk of noticeable transitions in the 8-bit color.

How many bits is needed for a friend?

If you have another computer, you can simply make a copy of the working 16-bit file and process it for a friend who has created another working file. So, how do you send your images via the Internet to the laboratory? There will be plenty of 16-bit TIF files available, and in a different way. However, if you prefer to extract JPG or want to send a smaller file, you may want to check the instructions about switching to 8-bit.

If your laboratory usually accepts 16-bit format (TIFF, PSD, JPEG2000), just ask your clerks for the best files.

If you need to send JPG, it will be in 8 bits, but this will not be a problem. In fact, 8-bit is perfectly suitable for residual output to other devices. Simply export your files from Lightroom at 90% brightness and Adobe RGB color. If you do all the processing before converting the file to 8 bits, there won’t be any problems.

If you don't worry about the transition of bits on your monitors after converting to 8-bit, you can trust that everything is fine for each other.

What is the difference between concrete clay and open space?

Bit depth means the number of possible values. The color palette means maximum values or range (refer to as “gamma”). If you need to select a box of colored olives as a butt, a greater depth of clay will result in a greater number of shots, and a larger range will result in a greater number of colors regardless of and a number of olives.

To marvel at the difference, let’s take a look at the visual butt:

As you can, by increasing the bit depth, we reduce the risk of dark color transition appearing. By expanding the color range (wider gamma) we can create more extreme colors.

How does a colorful expanse flow onto concrete clay?

SRGB (left) and Adobe RGB (right)

Selection of colors (the range in which the colors will be drawn), so that even a large range of colors can theoretically be added to the darkness associated with the transitions of the color, which stretches even more strongly. Remember that the beats indicate the number of transitions in relation to the color range. Thus, the risk of eliminating visually noticeable transitions increases with the expansion of space.

Recommended settings to avoid fogginess

After all this discussion, you can make recommendations on what options to follow in order to avoid problems with color transitions in gradients.

Setting up the camera:

  • A 14+ bit RAW file is a good choice if you want the best brightness, especially if you are interested in adjusting the tone and brightness, for example, increasing the brightness in the shadows by 3-4 stops.
  • A 12-bit RAW file is ideal if you want fewer files or shoot more. For the Nikon D850 camera, a 14-bit RAW file is approximately 30% larger than a 12-bit file, so this is an important factor. And large files can be stacked with the ability to capture long series of frames without replenishing the memory buffer.
  • Don't save to JPG if you can. If you know what you need to do, if you need to quickly transfer files and the number of snapshots does not matter, then Jpeg will definitely be a good option. You can also consider the possibility of shooting in JPG + RAW mode if you need a clearer file this year. Be sure to adjust to the SRGB color space that you capture in JPG. If you shoot in RAW, you can ignore color adjustments. RAW files in operation do not interfere with the color space. It will not install until the RAW file has been converted to another format.

Lightroom and Photoshop (working files):

  • Save your work files in 16-bit in the future. Use 8 bits only for the remaining export in JPG format for the Internet and others, since this format is suitable for other users. It is normal to use 8-bit for residual output, otherwise there is a unique mode under processing time.
  • Don't forget to look at the picture at a scale of 67% or more to see that there are no noticeable color transitions in the gradients. At a smaller scale, Photoshop can create a milky darkness. This is our article about this.
  • Be careful when using HSL in Lightroom and Adobe Camera RAW, as this tool can create dark colors. There is very little sleeping with concrete clay, otherwise problems are possible.
  • If your output file is only available in 8-bit (for example, JPG), you must carefully convert it to 16-bit before editing. Now editing on 8-bit images in 16-bit mode will not create any obvious problems.
  • Do not exploit the 32-bit space because you are not exploiting it to combine multiple RAW files (HDR). There are times when working in a 32-bit space, and the files are twice as large. It's best to use HDR in Lightroom instead of using 32-bit mode in Photoshop.
  • Lightroom's HDR DNG format is even better. It uses 16-bit floating point mode to capture a wider dynamic range with the same number of bits. We're looking for the fact that we need to correct the dynamic range in HDR only within 1-2 stops, but it's a nice format that allows for flexibility without creating large files. Most importantly, don't forget to export your RAW to a 16-bit TIF/PSD if you need to continue editing in Photoshop.
  • As you are one of the few people who are guilty of using the 8-bit operating mode for any reason, it is certainly better to stick to the sRGB color space.
  • When you select the gradient tool in Photoshop and select the “smoothing” option, the program will select 1 additional bit. This may be problematic when working in 8-bit files.

Export to the Internet:

  • JPG with 8 bits and sRGB color space is ideal for the Internet. At that time, as many monitors display a large bit depth, a larger file size, obviously, is not worth it. And as more and more monitors support wider screens, not all browsers support color management correctly and may display images incorrectly. And most of these new monitors have apparently never been color calibrated.
  • 8-bit is perfectly suitable for residual output to a friend, but use 16-bit, since the other’s possession supports it.
  • A standard monitor will work fine for most tasks, but keep in mind that you may be able to help pass the test results across 8-bit displays. These dark-skinned people may not really be in the pictures. The smells appear at the stage of being displayed on the monitor. The same image may look better on another display.
  • As you can afford, a 10-bit display is ideal for photography. A wide range such as Adobe RGB is also ideal. Ale is not obov'yazkovo. You can take stunning pictures on your most basic monitor.

Maybutne's look

At the moment, choosing a higher bit depth may not make much difference to you, since your monitor and printer currently only run at 8 bits, but things may change in the near future. Your new monitor can display more content, and you can use it with professional equipment. Save your work files in 16-bit. Which will be enough to preserve the best of the brightness in the coming days. Which will be enough to satisfy all the monitors and printers that will be available for viewing in the future. What range of colors is enough to go beyond the range of human vision.

However, gamma is different. Better yet, you have a monitor with an sRGB color gamut. Since it supports a wider range of Adobe RGB or P3 gamut, you will be better off working with these gamuts. Adobe RGB has a wider range of colors in blue, yellow and green, while P3 offers a wider range of colors in red, yellow and green. In addition to P3 monitors, there are commercial printers that support the AdobeRGB gamut. sRGB and AdobeRGB are no longer possible to explore a new range of colors that can be displayed on a monitor or printer. For this reason, you should choose a wider range of colors so that you can enjoy the convenience of viewing images on the latest printers and monitors. What is the ProPhoto RGB gamma suitable for? And, as discussed above, a larger gamut will require a larger 16-bit bit depth.

How to remove the darkness

If you are faced with confusion (in general, when switching to 8-bit images, you can work out steps to reduce this problem to a minimum:

  • Transform the ball into a smart object.
  • Add rosmittya according to Gaus. Set the radius to achieve darkness. A radius equal to the width of the darkness in pixels is ideal.
  • Use the mask to seal it only where it is necessary.
  • And, decide, add a little noise. Graininess reduces the appearance of a smooth spread and makes the print appear more complete. If you're using Photoshop CC, tweak the Camera RAW filter to add noise.
