How can you clone a partition along with the operating system (or other files) and then transfer it to another hard drive without violating pirated software or buying expensive paid software?

I'm promoting the Seagate DiscWizard program. It is based on a similar utility from Acronis True Image. However, in non-cloning versions of the Acronis utility, the disk cloning function is not available, which cannot be said about the Seagate DiscWizard version.

Do you ever need to clone your hard drive? You can completely move the entire operating system to a larger hard drive, and in this case the operating system and all files on the system drive will be deprived of safety and efficiency. You can also transfer not only system sections, but also files and data.

After you install the utility and run it, you will see the program header window. Click on the “Disk cloning” section.

Then the “Disk Cloning Master” will open. The Master has a number of robotic modes – manual and automatic. In the automatic selection mode, your section is set to the same parameters as the output one (its size, and other parameters).

In manual mode, you can reassign the size of the sections, for example, making it larger.

I’ll give you a reference. System partition 60GB. You transfer it to a new hard drive and specify in the settings that the partition during transfer becomes larger, say 100GB. As a result, you have a working operating system and an even larger system partition.

For the butt, I select manual mode and click on the “Next” button. Now we need to select a hard drive that we can use. After making your choice, click on Dali. Now we select a single hard drive on which the hard drive we want to clone will be recorded.

We have three options for transferring hard drive partitions to a new hard drive. The first option is a one-to-one transfer, in which the sections will be transferred without changing their sizes.

Another option is “Proportional”, here everything is clear from the hint. As much as the new disk has less or more output, the desktop will be expanded or new partitions will be changed.

The best option is “Manually”, where we can completely reassign the dimensions of the newly created sections, which will be cloned data from the output disk.

However, it is incredibly rich, given that the output size of the original partition is 118 GB. We can either increase this size, change it or deprive it ourselves. Click on the “change” button and adjust the required size of the section - just pull on the button with the mouse. In this case, I set the size of the created partition to 120 GB. We press on “Accept”. Now we have created a partition before the operating system will be transferred and we will lose another 50 GB of free space.

Embossed on the “Next” button. And on this page there is another option. Click on the "Options" button and you can select nearby folders or sections (like a hard drive) for transfer. It’s best to hand-pick the ones you need, rather than repeating them all in a row. Obviously, if you clone the entire operating system, all data will be cloned, and not just outside the folder!

Click the “Proceed” button and the cloning process will start. This takes place at all times depending on the size of the hard drive.

2. Output and single hard drive

4. Working with the space of a single hard disk after cloning

Having removed from the target hard drive and transferred to the Windows system, we first look at the partition structure. We launch the standard disk storage utility. Since now the target disk comes first in the computer's storage priority, Windows designates it as Disk 0. The remaining one becomes a clone of Disk 1, if output, with the same partition structure and proportionally distributed space, Same with the structure of the output hard drive.

Apart from the files, we have completely removed all the data from the third partition of the output hard drive. Now this partition is displayed on the output disk as partition I and, as before, contains data. This clone on the target disk is now partition F, as it was transferred, empty.

You can choose it either to save data, or add it to some other section. For which there are software disk managers Disk Director from the same company Acronis, no less effective Paragon Hard Disk Manager, no-cost or their analogues. You can go to them, since there is already evidence of work with this kind of software. Moreover, True Image 2016 transfers the ability of the cloning process to redistribute the space of the target disk. To do this, at the first stage of cloning, you need to select not the automatic mode, but the manual one.

Naturally, such a move would simplify the operation and increase the chances of the newcomers making amends. In our case, the operation was labor-intensive, due to the presence of several files, and besides the complicated operation of forming the partition structure of a hard disk clone, it is left to the lite version of the disk manager - a standard Windows utility.

The disk storage utility has a minimum of functionality and does not transfer overwriting sectors of the hard disk by combining partitions or storing in some parts their responsibility for others. However, operations for expanding sections can be completed without overwriting the data.

For example, there is space for an empty third partition of the entire hard disk for another non-system partition. For which you need to delete the third section F. In the utility window, click on it, click on the context menu and select “Delete Volume”. We confirm this.

The third section is now displayed as a non-divided space.

Click the context menu on the shared partition E and select “Expand volume...”.

The current master expands this and gives the entire space to another section.

Now there are only two partitions on the target hard disk - system and even non-system.

Alternatively, the scheme can be done differently, removing the third section for saving data. You need to transfer files from another partition to the new one, and delete the other partition. Using this undivided space, you can expand the system partition C.
