Change all icons with IconPackeger

The downloaded program will need to be installed. Then start using the item in the "Start" menu. Before starting the program directly, a window with a proposal to purchase a subscription will appear.

After that, the program window will open. New icons can be selected from the carousel at the bottom of the window.

In the Windows operating system, the set of icons for folders, to put it mildly, is too modest and practically does not change from version to version. But creative people create sets that delight the eye with their creativity. Another question is where to download icons for folders and how to install them? This is what we’ll talk about now.

Some of you may ask, what are these icons for? I don’t know about you, but I like it when the folder doesn’t look boring, and what is in it can be determined by its appearance. Moreover, such decoration does not load the system.

The Internet is full of sites with many sets of folder icons. But they are not always beautiful, and most importantly, they are safe for the operating system. often they are posted by people who just slammed them from somewhere and uploaded them to their account.

They do not care how much that in this set, during the transfer from one account to another, all sorts of "bugs" and a bunch of other delights could appear. some of them put them there on purpose.

Personally, I download icons from trusted sites where people value their reputation, and create such sets myself. One of these people is Oleg Nakroshaev, a Photoshop master. On his website, you can not only learn how to work in this program, but also download ready-made sets of tools.

Where to drop the folder with icons

After we have downloaded the icons, open the folder “ Computer"(On Windows 7)," My computer"(In Windows XP) or" This computer"(In Windows 10), and go to" Drive C:"- folder Windows - folder System32 –

Open the folder System32.

Open the archive with icons, or unpack it (whatever you like best).

You can open and see the icons. There are 316 of them.

Install the icon on the folder

Select the folder to which we want to install the icon, and click on it with the right mouse button, and in the drop-down context menu at the very bottom, select the item Properties.

In the properties window, go to the tab Customization and in the block Folder icons push the button Change Icon.

In the next window, press the button Overview.

Installing an icon on a shortcut

To optimize the system better, some users (I am one of them) do not display folders on the desktop, but only their shortcuts.

If on your desktop there are not folders, but their shortcuts, then right-click on the shortcut and select the item from the list Properties.

In the window that opens, on the tab Label we find below the button " Change icon.. " and click on it.

The rest of the steps are the same as described above.

P.S. I don’t know for what reason, but this or that type of the selected icon is not always saved immediately. Sometimes it takes a while.

On labels, the icon often does not change at all. You must first replace the icon on the folder, and then create a new shortcut and copy it to the desktop.
