You can look at document parts and manage them (move, delete, create new ones) using a special palette, which is located in the lower right corner of the screen.

Balls in Adobe Photoshop can be represented as sheets of transparent spun, placed in a stack one on top of the other. Any image can be applied to the skin of the sheets, so that the image that lies on the animal overlaps the image that is located under them. In the clearest images, the sections of leaves become transparent and the lower balls are visible through them. In general, when looking at a stack of animals, it appears as a single complex image, composed of additional overlapping elements of adjacent balls.

The balls are needed so that many images can be folded into one, and also so that in a multi-ball image it is possible to edit the skin ball independently of other balls.

Working in Photoshop, we create new balls many times, glue them together, duplicate them, move them, change the order of the balls and their clarity, in a word, we can use the balls to do everything that might be needed when editing bath photos.

Obviously, any file, opened or created in Adobe Photoshop, must contain at least one ball. Call this ball called Background, either the background or the background.

What masks do you need?

For example, when working in HDR technology, I select a bunch of photographs of one or the same scene, divided into different exposures, then insert them into one file in the form of adjacent balls, and use masks as and elements of the skin and the culprit will be present in the end image .

The mask is a black and white image of the same size as a ball. The color of the mask codes the clarity of the ball. White color means normal visibility of the ball, black color means absolute clarity. Different shades of gray color indicate different levels of clarity - the darker the color, the more clear. In this way, if the mask is applied to the plots of a white color, the corresponding plots of the ball retain their cob thickness, and there, where the mask is painted in a black color, the image will become invisible, and through the new one will be visible underneath Whose ball. However, when replaced with a rubber pad, it effectively erases part of the ball; the mask does not destroy the ball itself, but simply removes it. At any time, you can take a white brush and recreate any part of the image. This approach is called non-destructive (non-destructive) editing.

It is often necessary to reduce some effect to just an insignificant part of the image. In such situations, I duplicate the working ball (or create a corrugated ball), modify it in any necessary way (for example, increasing the contrast, sharpness, darkening or brightening the image), after which the entire ball is first mask, and then with a white pencil I show the effect there, where it is necessary.

Of course, editing masks does not involve only painting them with an additional brush. You can use any tools. It is often necessary to go into, for example, a gradient fill, or create a mask on the base of the area, which is determined by the principle of color or brightness range. Sometimes one of the color channels can serve as a template for the mask. In a word, the methods used to create masks are indispensable and impersonal, and I will not try to spoil them all. Just keep in mind that when wearing clothes, you can create masks in even folding shapes, so as to make the artistic works stand in front of you. It is possible to find special plugins for Photoshop (for example, MASK PANEL) that often automate the creation and editing of folding masks.

Editing balls are required for seamless image editing. Instead of tightening the curves, equalizers, or any other tool directly into the ball, you create a special ball that you adjust, and then work with it. The curving ball itself does not contain any image, but is rather an instruction on how to program a program to change the image that lies under the corigulating ball. The advantage of this method is that you can quickly turn around to the shape of the ball and freely change its parameters without fear of shrinking the image. The figurative ball can be turned on, you can change the level of its obscurity, and if you do so, you can completely remove it without the need for photography. It is also possible to copy the original ball and paste it into another document, thus maintaining the same settings for up to several photographs.

Adding a new ball that is adjusted can be done through a special Adjustments palette, or through the associated button in the Layers palette, or through the Layer> New Adjustment Layer menu.

The skin ball, which corrects automatically, is equipped with a mask, which allows you to control the area of ​​the inflow of the skin ball. It is entirely natural that different areas of the edited photograph may require the use of different tools. With the help of several decorative balls surrounded by masks, it’s quite creative. The masks of the original balls are in no way different from the original masks and are created using standard methods.

When combining the corrective ball from the lower level with balls, the rasterization is subject to correction, so that the changes are still transferred to the image data and become irrevocable. Combine the balls with this only if you are completely satisfied with the result and do not plan further changes.

A few words about the background ball

Basically, when you first open an image in Photoshop, only one “Background” appears in the “Balls” palette (Layers) from the castle images (arrow No. 1).

This ball has a number of boundaries: there are no overlay modes, you cannot change the opacity and fill, you cannot change clear areas, etc. And worst of all - this ball cannot be removed! Restore respect to the little beast, all settings are inactive.

It is important to save the original copy of the document, so that you can later turn to the threads and not lose the original in the process of re-creation! For these very reasons, it is not recommended to remove the block from the background ball. If you need to make changes to the ball itself, it can be copied in the future. For this, the background ball is visible and clicked on the “Create a new ball” (New Layer) icon (arrow No. 2). Or use the Ctrl + J key. An exact copy of the background ball will appear, but with additional functionality.

If necessary (not recommended), you can still remove the block from the background ball. To do this, you need to transfer the image of the castle (the castle itself, and not the entire ball) to the right-handed Smith’s cat icon of the “Create a new ball” button (arrow No. 3).

After filling in all the necessary fields, we will stamp Ok. A new row has appeared in the “Balls” palette with the name you specified and other settings that can be changed in the future.

You can also create a ball using a different key combination, without a dialog box. In this option you need to add the Alt key. That is, the same key looks like this: Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N. The ball uses the default overlay mode, 100% opacity and fill.

All newly created balls are created faster than the active one. Sometimes it may be necessary to create a ball lower than it. This option is possible with the third method.

The active ball is visible in the "Balls" palette, and its name is written in the document header.

3. Button on the ball palette

Another way to add a new ball is the “Create a new layer” button at the bottom of the “Balls” palette (Layers).

When pressed, an empty ball is created with a name behind it. When the first ball is created, the file name will be “Ball 1”.

Then the number increases in order of increasing. It’s important to immediately change the name of the ball and give it the name “speak.” Having seen the new creations of the ball, if necessary, you can change the overlay mode, opacity and other settings. It’s much easier to make all the settings while creating the ball. For this type of pressure, a button with a pressed Alt key is indicated. When the “New Ball” dialog box appears again, you can start working with it!

If you need to create a ball lower than the active one, then press the “Create a new ball” button while pressing the Ctrl key. But you need to remember, so you can’t create a new one below the background ball! It is necessary to remove the blockage from the kidney (not recommended!).

The only other way to create a new ball is through the “Balls” palette menu.

From the drop-down list, select “New Ball...” (New Layer).
