Well, I won’t bore you, but I’ll write about a number of programs whose purpose is to show how many and which files (folders) take up the most space on your disk. Obviously all stinks (as well as all programs on my website) are cat-free.
Looking ahead, I will tell you that everyone has the same feeling - to analyze the system and see in a scientific manner what and how it occupies a place, which has shown its additional potential. As a result, you can access and delete (perhaps) unnecessary large files.
First program for disk analysis and search for large files and folders - this WinDirStat.

The top menu of the program itself has only two jumpers: the first, for sorting by name (and not by “largest”), the other for displaying the number of files (and not volume).

HDD Scanner (Scanner) is a cost-free program that allows you to view useful information: determine the size of folders on the disk in the Windows operating system. The program shows the size of your computer's disks.
The HDD Scanner program analyzes hard drives, CD/DVD drives, external media connected to the computer (USB flash drives, external hard drives, etc.), and then displays The place is occupied by files and folders on these drives.

Launch the HDD Scanner program. After startup, the scanning process begins, at which point the program analyzes the disk space of the computer. The scanning process takes about an hour, which is required to sit on a number of disks and the size of the space it takes up.
The program window displays all drives connected to the computer; my computer has two hard drives (one hard drive is divided into two parts), one external hard drive, and a CD/DVD drive.
HDD Scanner scans all disks the first time it starts. The scanning of all disks will be completed soon.
After the disk analysis is completed, a diagram will appear in the Programs window that shows how much space is occupied by these and other files and folders on the computer’s disks.
Move the mouse cursor to the desired location in the diagram to view information about a specific folder. At the top of the “Scanner” window (opposite the arrow) you will enter the name of the folder or file that occupies space in gigabytes or megabytes, the number of files in this folder.
There are two buttons at the top right of the program window. The top button clicks the “Installed and remote programs” function, using the bottom button you can clean the cat.
At the bottom right part of the program window, there are buttons for navigation: moving to the father’s folder, back, to update the father’s data.
How to add an item in the context menu to launch HDD Scanner
For easy access to HDD Scanner on your computer, the ability to add the program item to the context menu has been added.
To do this, you first need to rename the folder with the scn2 program to the Scanner folder. Next, place the “Scanner” folder in the “Program Files” folder, which is located on the “C:” drive. This is however suitable for 32 and 64 bit Windows operating systems.
The “Scanner” folder has two registry files.
Click the left mouse button on the "Add Scanner to Context Menu" registry file.
Wait until you launch the Registry Editor. In the “Registry Editor” window, first click the “So” button to make changes to the registry.
After this, you will receive information about the values that were successfully added to the registry.
After you move your mouse cursor to any folder or drive in Explorer, the “Show Usage with Scanner” item will appear in the context menu.
After clicking on the “Show Usage with Scanner” button, the Scanner program will launch and display a diagram in your window about how much space the data takes up in a specific folder or on a specific disk.
How to view the HDD Scanner item from the context menu
To remove the Scanner item from the context menu, navigate to the “Program Files” folder, and then open the “Scanner” folder. Dad has the registry file Delete Scanner from Context Menu.

DiskWave has every chance of becoming a stand-alone, cost-free utility for analyzing space on a disk, if not only: I could analyze the folder, but when analyzing the disk, the income steadily drops, and then I look at do not check the date of the last update, the Swiss “fix” varto.

And the axis of practicality, perhaps, I don’t understand at the moment, is why Disk Inventory X and Space Gremlin also suffer from similar images, but it’s difficult to see the different colored squares and rectangles. You have to force yourself to associate them with the files. Well, perhaps this method of imagery will work for you, I don’t know.

Disk Expert is a tool for visualizing pie charts like Disk Inspector and DaisyDisk. In my opinion, it is more convenient and more accurate to use a disk instead of those that I have studied.
Instead of a list of files, Disk Expert displays the largest files, which is simpler, nothing, but less complicated, if in order of graphical displays there is also a simple list of directories and files on the disk, sorted by size, butt, like Disk Inventory X, DiskWave and DaisyDisk.
Disk Expert doesn’t have much of a setup window.
I want this program to completely screw up with disk analysis, but once an hour I look around Disk Expert closes with mercy. Considering the price and those that updates have not been released since the release of the program, I do not recommend spending any money on any new product if you want Disk Expert to cope with its tasks.

Regardless of the fact that the remaining version of this supplement was released around 10 years ago in 2005, it will continue to lose not only what is valuable, but also the shortest among costless analogues.
For visualization, here you can see color-coded squares, as well as a list of directories and files with their sizes, which makes it easier to understand the information presented. You can also look at the statistics by type instead.
There is nothing supernatural in the adjusted programs.
It’s a terrible bonus, it’s a shame that no new versions are coming out and it looks like it’s out of the hands of the retailer.

This utility is permanently installed on my Mac and, in my opinion, there is only one shortcoming - not that it is paid.
The data is presented in pie charts that are easy to read, as well as a list of files and directories. Navigation through directories is also done simply and manually.
The add-on has everything you need to analyze disk space, and nothing fancy.
Just Spartan adjustments.
Also, this program is regularly updated by its creators and new versions continue to be released, which is important for programs, especially paid ones.

As for me, there are only two options from all the above-mentioned additions that will definitely increase your respect.
- If cost-free software is important to you, consider signing up for Disk Inventory X.
- If you are willing to pay, then your best option is DaisyDisk.
Other programs either lose functionality or stop updating, which can lead to the fact that after the latest OS X update, the smell stops working.
If you choose the program, it’s up to you.
Available in earlier versions of Windows and less available in Windows 10 versions standard tool for analyzing computer disk space, unfortunately, without adopting the capabilities of numerical third-party software with this method. How many good ideas could be gleaned from third-party disk space analyzers such as WinDirStat, SequoiaView, or Xinorbis. Microsoft may have thought that the best way to inherit would be to reduce the storage of these memory cards in mobile devices. As a standard disk space analyzer in the Windows 10 warehouse, you can consider it as a valuable tool for periodically clearing space on your computer’s disk - these items have a lower capacity.
The main programs for analyzing the disk space of a computer are to provide a manual format of files stored on the computer. Ideally, such information may include a selection of data by disk partition, folder, category and file type, chronology of appearance of files and their containers. Sorting files according to all these criteria makes it possible to periodically conduct detailed analysis on a computer and eliminate unnecessary data. Selecting a number of files from one or another partition of the disk allows you to quickly increase disk space if necessary. Having sorted the files one by one, you can try to find the most important ones among them, thereby freeing up space on the disk for other, more important data.
The function for analyzing disk space is included in the standard Metro add-on. "Parametri».
In separate "System"
The lower part of the "Storage" window of Windows 10 is dedicated to the storage of certain categories of files, and the upper part is the same standard analyzer of the computer's disk space. By selecting one of the disk partitions or connecting external storage information, the information is most likely similar to that presented for memory cards in mobile devices. On the top of the window there is a visual scale of the completeness of the disk partitions and the accumulated data of the underlying disk space in gigabytes. Below we will clearly focus on the following categories of data: system files, installed programs and games, documents, images, videos, music, mail, time and other files.
Unfortunately, the usefulness of a standard disk space analyzer will come to an end. It is not possible to remove any additional detailed information from adjacent folders and files, without any transfer or distortion, depending on the size of the files. To understand such subtleties, Windows 10 directs you to the system explorer. The folder paths that are displayed in the standard analyzer are opened by clicking in Windows Explorer, and the files in these folders can be sorted by size by selecting their display in the table view.
In addition to the fact that the folders are anonymous, data beyond their size cannot be quickly retrieved, and the folder size is not displayed in the system explorer. Each subfolder will have to be opened manually, you will be able to transfer files by size and then look through the files that claim to be deleted.
By category of data on the system disk partition “System and reserved” The situation is still complicated.
Here we simply need some information about how much space is taken up besides the system data, but we must not forget to send a message to the system explorer. So, please, the system has been stolen from newcomers. There is a single button here - “Manage the updated system”, which leads to the division of powers of the system, where, within the framework of work with update points, you can view them (except for the rest) with the method of eliminating any minor obligation.
From the reasonable capabilities of the standard Windows 10 disk space analyzer, you can, in principle, only two - a simple way to clean up timely files and remote programs. The first option is available by selecting the data category “Time Files”. By pressing the button “Download of time-sensitive files”, quickly remembering such things that are saved in Temp folders on the system drive, where a significant amount of unnecessary data will accumulate over time.
Another miraculous possibility of free space on the disk is revealed to us when selecting a category “Additions and games”. Here, in one place, it is possible to sort all the installations of desktop programs, games, and Metro add-ons by their size. Plus, this category of data is equipped with an uninstaller for quickly removing programs, games and programs that are not subject to abuse. Third-party Metro programs installed from the Windows store do not have to be uninstalled, they can simply be transferred to another place on the computer in order to effectively clean up the system partition of the disk.

Due to the simplicity and intuitiveness of the organization and interface, the standard disk space analyzer of Windows 10 can become a terrible tool for beginners, even if they want to be a little thoughtful. This is ideal for clearing the system partition of the disk, as we will deal with the classic situation of the complexity of the user profile (“Vanture”, “Video”, “Music”, “Image”, etc.). But for general cleaning of the computer - thorough clearing of all disk space - third-party programs are better suited for these purposes. These are the programs that are included in the beginning of the article, as well as other functions in the warehouse of software assemblies for comprehensive monitoring of the computer (for example,) or for work with a hard disk (for example, HDTune).
The size of current hard drives is measured in terabytes, but there is more space on them, as before, who knows. And if you are a Swedish, or much smaller, solid-state accumulator, the situation could be catastrophic.
Using these three programs, you can clearly estimate what and how much space is taking up on the disk, and praise the solution for cleaning it.
The most popular cleaner for Windows has in its arsenal a special tool for searching for large files. You can find it in the “Service” section and it’s called “Disk Analysis”.
The distribution of disk space is illustrated with additional pie charts that display the distribution between the main types of files - images, documents, videos. Below is a table with reports on skin type.
After starting the latest assessment of hard disk capacity, WinDirStat displays a new map of your hard drive. It is made up of different squares, the size of which corresponds to the size of the file, and the color of its type. Clicking on any element allows you to find out its exact size and location on the disk. Using additional buttons on the toolbar, you can delete any file or view it in the file manager.
SpaceSniffer is a wonderful alternative to CCleaner and WinDirStat. This cost-free program can show a map of the disk's fullness in the same way as the previous utility. However, here you can easily adjust the depth of view and the number of details that are displayed. This makes it possible to start with the largest directories, and then dig deeper and deeper into the file system until you find the most complete files.
