This is the remaining version of Android. Which version of Android, in your opinion, is the best? Remaining version of Android

Food, who worries about which Android is better, praises the skin care professional who is going to the store to buy a new gadget using the same operating system.

The OS, the logo of which the green robot has become, today occupies one of the leading places on the market, is installed on hundreds of devices, is constantly being upgraded and updated by retailers. And Android updates come with enviable regularity.

In the first half of 2017, Google announced Android O (8), at which time its successor, Nougat, surpassed the mark of 10%, and the most popular became the same as Marshmallow. So why bother chasing numbers in the name of the operating system or sticking to the old and revised version? Let's figure it out together.

Android OS: advantages and disadvantages

You, melodiously, noted that the gadget market today is divided into two operating systems: iOS and Android. Persha is the brainchild of Apple, which is a closed code, and only vikors on the company's products. Friend is a developer of Android, Inc., which was purchased by Google. The main feature is openness and cost-freeness, which has made it so popular for manufacturers of smartphones, tablets and other devices.

Little home company Android, Inc. Bula was purchased by the giant giant back in 2005. Google planned to create a cost-free operating system with open source code, which it achieved in the fall of 2007 by introducing the first version of the package for consumers. The official first version of the system was shown on June 23, 2008, together with the first smartphone on Android - HTC Dream. OS, unimportant of the skeptical attitude of rich fakhivits, managed to attract the respect of both ordinary merchants and technology developers.

The growth of the mobile operating system has begun, which is accompanied by the appearance of new versions with various enhancements. Android OS in a very short time began to dominate the market from a number of other platforms, sharing its place on Olympus with its main competitor in particular iOS.

Why do you love this system so much?

First of all, the craftsmen were passionate about functionality and openness. Android opens up a lot of possibilities, allowing you to rummage through the file system, install a bunch of add-ons from different devices, and change the new look of the OS. The operating system, which is very difficult to report, can change beyond recognition, which is difficult to do on many other mobile operating systems.

We can’t forget about the custom firmware that is being developed by local developers, which will completely transform the “green robot” into something completely different. In addition, the official Android store is simply overloaded with thousands of add-ons and games, including many completely cost-free (paid ones, literally, much cheaper, not even in the App Store).

No matter how you look at it, Android still has shortcomings.

  1. One of the most annoying and annoying disadvantages of the system is system lags (although this problem will disappear with the release of new updated versions of the OS, and serious fixes will only increase even cheap outbuildings).
  2. Another weak point in the shortest versions of Android is to take into account parts of virus infection that can be transmitted to the device from the official add-on store.
  3. Corrections to the minuses can be made by further updating the devices to more current and shorter versions. Your first smartphone will receive the latest version, and you may need to download it again. In addition, it is important how many budget / mid-range devices are lost without updating to the latest version.

Which version of Android is better: old, current and new

Having learned a little about the history, advantages and disadvantages of Android, we move on to the latest versions of this operating system. To make it easier for you to download, we will distribute the material into a number of blocks according to the Android version: old, current and new. Here we will talk in detail about the features of the skin version, its advantages, disadvantages, as well as the relevance of the topic in 2017. Well, in the end, it turns out that the version of Android today is simpler and more beautiful.

We tell you about older versions of Android for educational purposes. Most of the tools are no longer available for the required functionality, and are therefore of no interest to geeks.

Outdated versions of Android

Android is a remarkably new operating system, and it can boast of a great number of versions. Like other systems, it was gradually refined, new editions were released, and the old ones were gradually forgotten. The same thing happened, for example, with Windows - not everyone can remember Windows 95, and XP is gradually forgotten. Android has such versions of dinosaurs, but if you want to find them on devices, it’s not easy. Until today's money-maker, they have nothing to marvel at.

Android 1.0 "Apple Pie"

Anyway, our system is starting with version 1.0, which took its name after apple pie. This is a stable collection, presented in the spring of 2003. It looks much different than the other better versions of Android, but the similarity is undoubtedly not visible. Naturally, Android 1.0 was full of bugs, and many of the most important functions of smartphones were not transferred at all.

What version 1.0 was like:

  • The notification system is essential for Android and the top curtain drops;
  • desktop widgets;
  • Integration with Gmail services;
  • online store of supplements.

It’s clear that for everyday users, Android 1.0 “Apple Pie” is unlikely to work: the abundance of “gimmicks”, the impossibility of installing many programs, and the devices under “Apple Pie” controls are difficult to find.

Android 1.1 "Banana Bread"

At the beginning of 2009, Android underwent extensive updates, which made a number of functions available, although the entire system did not change at all. Version 1.1 is available for a single smartphone - T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream).

The key innovations can be seen:

  • voice search Google Voice Search;
  • the possibility of selling paid add-ons in the Play Market;
  • the function of updating the firmware “on-the-fly” (also by opening the “About phones” item in the settings).

Android 1.1 “Banana Bread” is no longer a thing of history today, and the HTC Dream, the device it supports, is a rarity.

Android 1.5 "Cupcake"

“Cake” (the name of the version translated into Russian language), released in the spring of 2009, introduced a lot of other additions, which often filled the system, adding new capabilities. Thus, on-screen keyboards appeared, which allowed computer users not to transfer the original mechanical keys. The first smartphone to try Android 1.5 was HTC's new creation, Magic.

The screen keyboard display shows:

  • new icons;
  • ability to install third-party keyboards;
  • animation when moving from window to window;
  • change in browser;
  • the ability to publish photos or videos;
  • support for MPEG-4 and 3GP and new Bluetooth profiles.

Like its predecessor, Android 1.5 “Cupcake” is forgotten today, which is understandable.

Android 1.6 "Donut"

In the spring of 2009, Android received new updates, with special respect given to the accessory store. The interface has been redesigned, bugs have been removed, and screenshots of add-ons have also appeared. Also significant innovations were the advancement of CDMA frames and display resolutions of over 480 × 320 pixels, which attracted the respect of new video players to the system.

In addition, Android 1.6 “Donut” can boast:

  • an improved camera interface and new capabilities for taking photos and videos;
  • multi-movie voice search;
  • to the vast expansion of sound possibilities;
  • the add-ons became pracyuvati shvidshe;
  • It is possible to detect which programs are draining the battery.
Android 2.0/2.1 "Eclair"

Without compromising on what has already been achieved, even in the fall of autumn 2009, retailers rolled out the new Android 2.0, which can be called inappropriate. This version itself has become widely used in modern smartphones and is widely distributed throughout the world. The super thing, which is the strongest and most beautiful version of Android, was definitely over 2.0 at that time. Smartphones that operate under Android 2.0 controls have effectively demonstrated their capabilities and become productive.

What's new has appeared:
  • the ability to work with Google cloud records;
  • camera interface updates, added effects and support for the camera;
  • the keyboard has become more handy;
  • calendar updates and graphic architecture;
  • support for new display sizes and resolutions;
  • improved software interface;
  • a lot of other additional investigations.

The new 2010 edition introduced update 2.1, the main innovations of which were “live” trellises and improvements to Google Maps. This version of Android is based on the famous Nexus One, a smartphone that is almost a must-have accessory for any geek of these days.

Android 2.2 "Froyo"

In early 2010, a new version of “frozen yogurt” will be released, which will appear on the Nexus One smartphone in the near future. In Android 2.2, attention was paid to optimizing the robot interface, memory, etc. Now add-ons have begun to launch much faster, and Adobe Flash has also appeared in the Play Market, which allows you to run videos and play flash games in a standard browser.

The list of innovations in Android 2.2 “Froyo” is wide:

  • Possibility of Wi-Fi distribution;
  • installation of add-ons in expanded memory;
  • support for the screens of the overhead separate building;
  • the browser has rejected the integration of the V8 JavaScript engine;
  • a bunch of dribnyh updates.

Google subsequently released a security update for Android 2.2 “Froyo”, after which it introduced a new version of the OS.

Android 2.3 "Gingerbread"

One of the most popular, innovative and shortest versions of Android that is still available on many devices. Introduced in early 2010, it rejected many recent updates that were being introduced into the system. The change was effective, which allowed Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” to get a lot of positive ratings. First of all, the system has changed a lot - it has become darker and more elegant. In another way, there was an increase in even clearer displays, as well as audio and video codecs. In addition, the new version read:

  • support for a large number of sensors (barometers, gyroscopes);
  • rebuilt keyboard;
  • the possibility of clearing memory in the face of smithery;
  • More energy efficient batteries.

Android 2.3 is rightfully considered one of the shortest and most recent versions of the OS (for 2010-2011 - the shortest). Today it is difficult to find a device that will operate under the “gingerbread” controls, but the purchase does not seem entirely worthwhile.

Android 3.0/3.1/3.2 "Honeycomb"

Already in the harsh year of 2011, Google presented another version of Android, however, it was released inclusively for tablets. The latest innovations have made the use of tablets more comfortable. For example, when the mode was optimized for the computer, there was an increase in multi-core processors, and the number of tasks was also reduced.

The list of innovations with further additions appears side by side:

  • hardware acceleration has appeared;
  • support for peripheral devices;
  • the robot was optimized on various devices;
  • increased stability and security;
  • Auto-updates have appeared in the Android Market;
  • Improved Adobe Flash support.

Android “Honeycomb” is full of various innovations, but Google has decided to further introduce a universal OS that will run on both tablets and smartphones.

Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich"

“Waffle Frost” was announced in the spring of 2011, and in the spring the version was already presented officially. Android 4.0 became the first version of the OS from Google, which supported the work with tablets and smartphones. Vaughn brought a lot of brown polish, and was already loved by the players, although at the start there were a small number of bugs and problems in the work.

The change in innovation is great:

  • The notification panel has changed;
  • increased task load;
  • Lock screen for changes, shortcuts for quick access to phone functions have appeared;
  • typing text has become more comfortable, spell checking has become more stable;
  • The camera now has more capabilities;
  • Screenshots can be taken using software;
  • upcoming amendments to amends and security updates.

Android 4.0 is the most innovative and user-friendly. The current version of the OS is seriously outdated, although about 1% of devices still operate under 4.0.

Android 4.1/4.2/4.3 "Jelly Bean"

At the end of the year 2012, an updated version of Android was introduced, which practically did not change in terms of interface design, but removed a lot of improvements in the hardware market. The improvements ensured a smoother interface, faster launch of games and add-ons, and a minimum of bugs. The best version of Android at that time read:

  • new keyboard with gesture support;
  • support for multiple profiles on one device;
  • Miracast technology, which allows you to transfer videos and photos to your TV wirelessly;
  • customization menu in the notification panel;
  • updating the camera interface.

In the spring, with minor enhancements, a manual version of Android 4.2 was presented, and in the summer of 2013, version 4.3 was released to the public, which brought new updates and improvements to the operating system.

Today, “Jelly Zucchini” still has a decent share on the market, it can still be used, and more and more supplements are being developed from its support.

Android 4.4 "KitKat"

The KitKat version, regardless of the fact that it was presented back in 2013, has previously lost its scope. At the current moment, part of Android 4.4 is slightly more than 18% (in the remaining Nougat, for the most part, the part does not exceed 10%). Until recently, KitKat was installed on most budget devices, repeatedly overriding the title of the shortest version of Android. The secret to success on cheap devices lies in advanced optimization, which is why today many developers give the advantage to “KitKat”.

What did the version bring:
  • Google Now voice assistant;
  • The memory part has been optimized;
  • advanced launch of add-ons;
  • support for dartless printers;
  • “deaf management” appeared;
  • remix launcher in the built-in annex;
  • The security system has been improved and waste products have been corrected.

Even if it wasn’t there, parts of Android 4.4 “KitKat” are quickly running out, and gadget vendors are making the most of new versions of the OS. So, we’ll write down our favorite version in the old ones and move on to the current ones.

Current versions of Android

Older versions of Android, regardless of the ingenuity of wealthy users, are seriously losing to the current ones, which can boast a wider range of functions and regular updates. Moreover, the current versions of Android can be called the best for having a minimal number of problems and a massive expansion into the market.

Android 5.0/5.1 "Lollipop"

One of the most beautiful and popular versions of Android dosi. Introduced in the spring of 2014, the OS from Google won the hearts of wealthy business owners, and manufacturers of smartphones and other devices liked the new product. Lollipop was seen as an updated interface, which the developers called Material design - working with devices became simpler, more user-friendly and more comfortable. Respect and autonomy were given, for whatever reason.

In addition, Android Lollipop brought:

  • inform the system;
  • the possibility of encrypting the data of a koristuvach;
  • overkill automatic screen adjustment mode;
  • setting up alerts;
  • new animations;
  • a lot of upcoming updates that made the system more stable and secure.

The version of Android Lollipop can still be considered smaller, and in terms of breadth it is traded only with Marshmallow - 31% versus 22%. A large number of smartphones on this version of the OS are still on sale and they deserve a lot of respect.

Android 6.0 “Marshmallow” - the most stable Android today?

Android 6.0, introduced in the spring of 2015, today is no longer the most popular version of the OS from Google. And, judging by this, he is not going to give up his position anytime soon. Many budget devices, regardless of Nougat, produce Marshmallow itself, which is used by retailers and practically does not compromise on the new version. This version cannot be separated from the previous one - it retains the same Material design and similar icons. However, the functionality has expanded with new useful capabilities.

  • Now Android devices can be unlocked using a finger scanner;
  • native supports 2 SIM cards;
  • it became possible to control access to additional data;
  • enable multi-window mode;
  • Android Pay add-on for electronic payments has been added;
  • A few new animations and updates for a stable system.

In general, Marshmallow is a modification of Lollipop. Version Android 6.0 is fully functional, it has all the functions that a daily user needs and even the greatest expansion. Marshmallow will still be relevant at least.

New versions of Android

The newest versions of operating systems get the most users, which is not surprising. OS updates, even insignificantly, but fall in line with predecessors, can boast of the excellent support of the developers and regular updates.

Android 7.0 / 7.1 / 7.1.1 / 7.1.2 "Nougat"

Today is the newest version of Android. Presented in 2016, it was not able to conquer the market among Android devices. Visually, “Nougat” is noticeably different from its predecessors, and has not lost any new functions.

Noteworthy changes in Android 7.0:

  • the possibility appeared at the bottom of the screen in two halves;
  • now all running programs will be deleted from memory using one button;
  • The notification system has been enhanced and a dial-up function has been added;
  • night mode, which allows you to achieve a contrast that is comfortable for your eyes;
  • enhanced energy saving mode;
  • redesign of folders;
  • new emoticons;
  • “picture-in-picture” mode;
  • Full hardware support for virtual reality has been added.

Care and opportunity are not the most important, but the system has noticeably diminished. There are three significant updates to come out - 7.1, 7.1.1 and 7.1.2. The first update brought the Daydream VR mode. In 7.1.1, notable innovations include round add-on icons. Well, the last update 7.1.2 brought improvements in the ability to encrypt and correction of other encryptions.

According to many backers, Android “Nougat” has become the best and most popular version of Google’s mobile OS. Nougat looks stylish and modern, supports basic functions and will be relevant in the future.

Android 8.0 "O..."

This fall, Google released a beta version of the upcoming Android 8.0 for several smartphones, which, apparently, takes its name from the Oreo cookie. The official release of Android O, along with a number of new products, is scheduled for early fall 2017. True, most merchants will be able to try out this cherished new product no earlier than the first quarter of 2018.

It’s too early to talk about all the innovations in the upcoming version, but some details are already visible:

  • there will be more information;
  • a doctor will appear on the supplement icons;
  • dynamic icons will appear;
  • Further updates to the interface.

Well, it’s impossible to wait until autumn.

Is the new version of Android the best?

Not at all. Having become acquainted with the new version of Android, which was likely to be a waste, the experts decided that:

Updates bring not only improvements, but also bugs.

It often takes developers months to fix all problems, and within that hour, as a rule, an announcement of the current version is made. In this case, a perfectly polished system will be removed by the customer closer to the release of a new version. That’s why anyone who wants to “sit” for a month on the old, or manual, version of Android does not have to put up with the bugs of the new product.

However, it’s not good to rush from one extreme to another and lose yourself in the old and true versions. In addition to their meager functionality, older OSes are more susceptible to virus attacks and are 100% designed to protect data from cybercriminals.

Having said that, we can say that in the near future the best choice will be the versions of Android Marshmallow and Nougat. By purchasing devices on Android 7.0, you will be denied the latest capabilities, and many devices on Marshmallow will very often be unable to update to the latest version. If you have a smartphone running Android Lollipop, it’s best to find out later what the upgrade will entail, even if it’s up to 6.0.

Quick tip: don't marry the newest version of Android

Today, with a lot of material, we tried to inform you about the most important features of the skin with the version of Android OS, as well as nutrition, which is the most useful and best for them. The operating system of Google is not at the forefront of new updates. However, it is difficult to catch up with every new version of the OS, and there is no special sense in it - the decision of the courtyard a long time ago is still successfully coping with their tasks. We hope that our article will help you understand all the nuances of the skin version of Android and what is best.

In our century, it will be difficult to imagine a day without a phone or tablet with Internet access. For some, this device is more than an accessory, a special connection, a gaming device, and for others, it is an indispensable assistant for the robot. For any purpose, the gadget is not used, its security software must be the latest.

There are a number of operating systems for phones and tablets, the most popular being Android. Due to the fact that it has a user-friendly interface and stable operation, the OS can be installed on all devices. Android updates are periodically released, where problems and system fixes are resolved, and new functions are added. During the hour the OS was launched, at least 10 versions were released. We will look at the main ones today, including the very last version of Android.

Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 (Jelly Bean)

There is little difference between these versions of the operating system. All of them are updated Android 4.0. With the updates, the developers have optimized the interface a little, making transitions smoother, lowering the speed of switching between desktops and phones or tablets.

The visual design of the system also saw some minor changes. A button for quick adjustments was added, as it was displayed in the notification panel. Retailers have also introduced support for several profiles on the device.

The latest version of Android, numbered 4.3.x, is still being tested on various devices and is still up-to-date.

Android 4.4 (KitKat)

This version was designed to enhance the operating system's operating system code and adapt it to low-cost smartphones and tablets. The functioning of the RAM has also been improved.

Previously, retailers installed a remote control service for the OS and a “smart” number identifier.

Android 5.0 and 5.1 (Lollipop)

In this version of Android, a large part of the changes fell on the visual design. All warehouses in the design were seen in shadows, which added interest and detail to them.

There will be additional insurance coverage for a large number of private users, which allows many private clients to control their phones or tablets. With this version of Android, it is now possible to use a 64-bit processor and a new version of Bluetooth version 4.1 on the device.

The gadget's battery is discharged a little more due to greater optimization of its work.

Android 6 (Marshmallow)

This is one of the remaining versions of this operating system, which was released in 2015. With these updates came both internal and external changes.

For example, the ability to block a gadget using an additional finger has been introduced, and blocking through individual recognition has been improved. Also among the innovations is the addition of the possibility of making monthly payments using the new Android Pay system.

Android 7 (Nougat)

In the latest version of Android, there was a new feature that allowed users to display two applications on two halves of the display.

Options were added that would make using the operating system more manual. These can be included:

  • The “Clear all” button for background processes.
  • Please inform the system.
  • Compact panel with a secure access icon.

Which version of Android is right for you?

At first glance, the answer to this question is obvious. It is necessary to select only the remaining version of the operating system, as it will remove all the features of the previous ones and add new functions. Please remember that the newest version of Android may not be suitable for your device, as it does not require the necessary efforts.

For example, the phone called HTC One S has version 4.2 and upgrading the system to 6.0 will be impossible, since a processor with two cores and a frequency of 1.2 GHz will simply not be enough for the normal functioning of the OS.

Since then, the Android OS has become possible for the massive penetration of digital technologies into all vertical and horizontal social, cultural and professional structures of the family, thus forming a global network not only from expensive government agencies and hospitals them computers, and also from low-cost mobile devices.

Two main advantages of Android OS:

  1. Simplicity of vicoristan - object-oriented control - so that I can learn, edit, vicoristi hints;
  2. All types of software are available for the Android OS - important, professional, utilities, services, etc., the list of which is expanding every day.

Android- This is an open operating system, which is used in various smart devices - in phones, smartphones, phablets, computers and tablets, e-books, TV sets, bracelets, etc.

The Android operating system has a long history of becoming the most popular mobile platform in the world. Several versions have changed and a large number of new functions have been introduced. However, few people remember how it all began. We have prepared a series of articles on the recent history of the development of the Android operating system.

Why did we start Android?

The Android operating system was first announced as a product only in 2007. This was the result of the destruction of the Android company by the Google corporation. So, Android is a great startup, which Google has earned a lot of money from. In 2007, after the announcement, Google released the first public version of Android together with an emulator, and also demonstrated the system on a BlackBerry-style push-button all-in-one. The device was created by HTC.

Around the same hour, Apple introduced its first iPhone. Google, having created a new revolution, turned the development of Android in a “sensory direction”, inspired by the concept of BlackBerry-style devices.

The public version, under the name Milestone 3, was already focused on the use only of an additional touch screen. Later, test versions 0.5, 0.9 were released, and then the first stable release was released.

Android 1.0 Apple Pie (2008)

Before the release of Apple Pie (apple pie), quite an hour had already passed since the acquisition of Android Inc by Google - almost three years.

T-Mobile G1

The era of the Android operating system officially starts on June 22, 2008, when sales of the T-Mobile G1 smartphone running Android 1.0 began in the United States. This device is also known under the name HTC Dream. The device contains all the features of smart phones of that time: touch screen, horizontal QWERTY keyboard, GPS. Just as the iPhone at the same time had a minimum of physical buttons, the HTC Dream was the same - on its case there were almost all types of controls at that time. In less than two years, 1 million smartphones were sold.

At the same time, some of the best features of Android were laid out: a notification system with a top “curtain”, widgets for the desktop, integration with Gmail, and an Android Market add-on store. It is noteworthy that the Android interface was developed in collaboration with the Swedish company The Astonishing Tribe, which later became an addition to BlackBerry.

At that time, the operating system removed the code name of Astroboy, and then the name was replaced by Apple Pie. The decision was made through possible court calls. From that very moment on, a tradition began to call Android versions different lasaschi.

Android 1.1 (2009)

The fate of 2009 is that the Android 1.1 update will be the first to accumulate. As you can understand about the version, it was a minor update that did not bring great changes, but added a couple of functions. For example, when Google Voice Search appeared, paid programs could be sold in the Play Market, and maps were supported by Google Latitude. Finally, there was encouragement to update the firmware “on a daily basis”. In the menu for setting up new entries, you can also select the “About phones” item.

Android 1.5 Cupcake (2009)

Just in the spring of 2009, an update to Android 1.5 Cupcake was released, which brought an unknown part of current operating systems - an on-screen keyboard. In this way, manufacturers could release new phones without physical keys for entry. The first Android smartphone with full touch controls was HTC Magic.

HTC Magic

Other changes included: new icons, fresh design of the search widget, the ability to create multiple widgets for one program, full implementation of the clipboard, recording and recording video creation, blind enhancement in standard Google add-ons, installing trellises on the lock screen, reducing zoom in the browser .

Android 1.6 Donut (2009)

Android has developed to a great extent. In addition, in 2009, the third update was released in the spring, under version 1.6, which is the name of the Donut collection. One of the most important innovations was the promotion of CDMA networks, which allowed Verizon and other operators to sell smartphones to their subscribers. Another important change was the enhancement of screens with a resolution greater than 480 × 320 pixels. The manufacturers themselves were denying freedom in terms of installing displays in their devices.

The Android Market add-on store has received a new design - now whiter and more eye-friendly. Also, screenshots have appeared on the program’s pages - the buyer can marvel at those that are downloaded.

An item has appeared in the setup menu that tells you about the battery. You also visited the “About Phones” section. Experienced battery users may have noticed that this very quickly “eats” the battery charge. And the company widget will start searching on the device and show the viewer.

Android 2.0 and 2.1 Eclair (2010)

The Android 2.0 Eclair update, introduced in the fall of 2009, became truly epochal and significant in the history of the development of the platform. The device itself, with version 2.0 and subsequent updates, began to march around the world, flooding the market for mobile devices.

Motorola Droid

The first gadget to use Android 2.0 was the iconic Motorola Droid, which was one of the favorite devices for geeks. The smartphone has been tightened and the stock Android has a lot of capabilities. Motorola Droid has a 3.7-inch screen (854 × 480 pixels), a single-core TI OMAP Cortex A8 processor and 256 MB of RAM. There is still a place for a classic horizontal keyboard.

Important changes and innovations in Android 2.0 Eclair:

  • Support for multiple Google account accounts and the ability to integrate accounts with other add-ons (synchronization).
  • Full-fledged navigation in Google Maps with 3D views.
  • New screen unlocked with a gesture.
  • Updated design of the standard desktop with new icons and widgets. The external appearance has become more mundane and wicked. Almost all elements were repainted for high screen resolution.
  • On-screen buttons for controlling the entrance buzzer using gestures. Now smartphones do not necessarily have hardware buttons “Accept” and “Disability”.
  • The browser has been heavily updated with the support of current web standards at that time. HTML5 support has now been implemented for the created videos. However, there are no multi-touch gestures for zooming yet. The address row has appeared in full force.
  • More handy on-screen keyboard with new design.
  • Translation of text into language (text-to-speech).
  • Installing powerful tracks on the ringer.

In 2010, Google released a minor version, but even more important for its further update strategy - Android 2.1 Eclair. The first smartphone from the Nexus line will be released on the basis of this OS.

Nexus One

The device, called Nexus One, was created by HTC and was based on the then-new Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor with a frequency of 1 GHz. The device had an AMOLED display. The main changes in Android 2.1 Eclair were of an external nature: animations, minor design changes, live wallpapers, etc. More recently, Update 1 was released for the Nexus One, which brings an enhancement to the popular iPhone feature - multi-touch gestures for moving farther and closer.

Android 2.2 Froyo (2010)

In mid-2010, the Android 2.2 Froyo (frozen yogurt) update was released, which immediately marked one of the main advantages of the Nexus line - the One smartphone was the first to update to this version. With the 2.2 update, Google's developers are focusing on increased productivity and optimization. One of the most important innovations was the JIT compiler, which can convert Java code into native Swedish code.

The browser has become increasingly integrated with the V8 engine to enhance Javascript functionality. The desktop screen became more hand-held, as the bottom panel became less visible - now it had two additional buttons - a dialer and a browser. The dots on the sides clicked on a menu with additional functions. Google took over these functions from third-party shells - also based on HTC Sense.

The gallery has seen great changes. First came 3D animations and objects. We can say that this program has surpassed all other technologies and Android itself in development. And in Android 2.2 there was an exclusive support for Adobe Flash, which will take over the Android Market and work in a standard browser. You can watch videos and play in Flash games. However, the module was working very quickly and unstable, so the video turned out to be a problem. Around the same time, Steve Jobs called Adobe Flash an old and new technology. There’s a lot to be said for this, but in the “flash” pouch we were inspired by the benefits of HTML5.

Before speaking, Froyo itself had the ability to distribute Wi-Fi, turning the device into a portable access point to provide Internet access to other devices. For those who love passwords, we have introduced an unlock code setting.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread

In February 2010, after the release of version 2.2, Google releases another great update - Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The first device with the “carrot” was the Nexus S from Samsung. The device will be smooth and compact in its time - all thanks to its heavy-duty construction and unique design with a curved screen. It is noteworthy that at the same time the hit iPhone 4 was released, and Microsoft released the not very successful Windows Phone.

Nexus S

Nexus S was one of the first Android devices without a D-Pad trackpad for control. From the hardware buttons of the smartphone there are only power keys and volume control, which at that time was a breakthrough.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread brought significant changes to the interface. Google continued to polish it and bring it to an acceptable look. Animations have become smoother, and icons have become more beautiful. All elements were combed. Since version 0.9, the top status bar has changed its new appearance - it has become black, and more indicator icons have been added. The entire Android 2.3 was made darker - perhaps the design was created specifically for the black Nexus S with a Super AMOLED screen.

Other innovations in Android 2.3:

  • A character-by-character system for viewing text. Previously, you could only see all the text in a field, rather than just a set of characters.
  • The new keyboard features a fresh, dark design and supports multi-touch.
  • Android Market 2.0 with an updated interface and new animations.
  • Improvement of front cameras. If you want Android 2.3, Selfies were not yet popular, but front-facing cameras in smartphones were already.
  • Impersonal addition for game developers: improved sound, implementation of control, normal access to the graphics subsystem and storage. This allowed the release of full-fledged games with 3D graphics.
  • Improved care for life and worn-out batteries.

The image was vikorized in the Android 2.3 Easter egg

It’s cool that with this very version of Android a great egg appeared, which can be activated in “Customizations”. Gingerbread has become a pioneer in this area, showing us faceless gingerbread men on the screen.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread has become one of the most recent and popular versions of the Google mobile platform. Under the control of this OS, there are still no devices. All the requirements are low to the point of “climbing” and a good set of functions.

After version 2.3 of the Android operating system, there are still ups and downs, and so on in the upcoming articles of this cycle.
