Pocketbook 626 format. Book reading interface

The PocketBook 626 has a 6-inch E Ink Pearl HD display that displays texts with clarity and contrast. The same as its predecessor, the PocketBook 626 reader has a thinner body - this product is more than 8 mm. The reader fits easily in your hand, weighing just a little more than 200 grams, and the soft-touch coating on the back panel of the device allows you to manually hold it with one hand. The increased battery capacity makes it possible to read the day without interruption, without thinking about recharging - PocketBook 626 is ready to run for up to a month at an average level of battery intensity.

Screens made with E-Ink Carta technology are currently considered the most popular for e-books. The stinks are not particularly revolutionary from the “old” Pearl HD, but without being surprised by this, the manufacturer will not release its new products directly from the Carta-screen. company PocketBook, As one of the leading market players, naturally, we also follow this trend and update our popular reader to the version PocketBook 626 Plus The main feature of this is the E-Ink Carta screen itself.

Packaging and accessories

The e-book is supplied in traditional PocketBook packaging. The box is quite small and decorated in a minimalist style. On the front side there is an image of the device itself, and on the back side there is a description of the technical characteristics and information about the generator.

The delivery set is minimal. In addition to the reader in the box you can find a USB-microUSB cable for charging and connecting to a PC, as well as a short customer guide and a warranty card.

Design and management

The design of PocketBook 626 Plus is absolutely identical to the design of the front. What is clear is that they are now changing those that have already been verified by the pros and cons and have proven themselves outstanding. The front side is occupied by a 6-inch E-Ink Carta screen, the frames are too wide, and from one side it does not look as stylish as in other cases, but the book can be trimmed in your hand without fear of being accidentally pressed onto the surface of the touch screen. The plastic on the front side looks very clear, with a light shimmer, or perhaps a mother-of-pearl structure. Our edition has a white color reader, also in the line of the collection there is a dark gray and black barred color for the e-book. The quality of materials and assembly is excellent, so that almost all PocketBook readers can be used, there is nothing to creak or play, in hand the device feels solid and premium.

Moreover, all the mechanical elements of the ceramic coating are concentrated in the area under the screen. The buttons are made of black soft-touch plastic and perform standard functions - “Home”, “Back”, “Forward” and “Menu”. Pressing the button is accompanied by characteristic silent clicking sounds. Before speaking, in PocketBook 626 these buttons combined exactly the same functions, but the icons on them were slightly different.

The rear cover of the extension is made of soft-touch plastic in black color. The material is rather smeared, and the marks tend to pick up on your fingers and are not easy to wipe off. But the plastic is absolutely not slimy, which is why the book fits comfortably in your hand and doesn’t get wet. Also, for ease of use, there is a small protrusion under the finger on the back of the spine.

The ports were loosening on the lower part of the body. There are, however, only two: a microUSB port for charging and connecting to a computer, and a slot for microSD memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB. There is also another mechanical button here, which indicates that the reader is turned on/off. It is illuminated by a green LED when pressed.

On the top edge there are two openings for a branded PocketBook case, which you can buy separately.

]

Both sides have been spared any elements. If you look at the body from the side, you can notice one more feature: the body is thin at the top and significantly expands to the bottom, the same design was in most of the earlier readers of the series.

The folded dimensions of the book are 174.4 mm by 114.6 mm, with a thickness of 8.3 mm. There is no such thing as a particularly compact one, and in the PocketBook assortment there is a smaller reader and the bulkier 626 Plus is not noticeable. It’s good to lie in your hand, the weight of 208 grams doesn’t get boring at all with a lot of reading. The book can easily fit into a small bag or backpack; if you carry it with you, you will need to get a cover.

screen

The time has come to talk about the main innovation. The book has a 6-inch screen with a separate section of 1024 by 758 pixels, a scrolling screen with E-Ink Carta technology. We want screens like this to gain popularity, but not all readers have installed them yet. Carta's flagship features on the front-generation Pearl screens have a lighter lining and increased contrast to 15:1 (in screens with backlights up to 14:1). With improved contrast characteristics, the screen display becomes faster and more fluid, as well as energy savings. This is all told to us by the manufacturer of the screen - the E-Ink company. In practice, the unbroken eye will notice only the lighter lining of the display, the increased contrast of the display is possible, the fluidity of the robot and the autonomy and so the PocketBook readers are at their best, from Pearl screens. So it’s not good to look for something special on the new screen, but it’s more beautiful, but it’s not important.

The screen is, naturally, touchscreen. It is made using the same technology, where a special melt is applied on top of the screen, which ensures high precision and fluidity of the robot. This technology slightly reduces the clarity of the image, but at the same time, such screens are less vibrant and more reliable than, for example, screens with an infrared sensor.

PocketBook 626 Plus is equipped with lighting for reading in minds with insufficient lighting. Illumination is implemented using several LEDs, which are located not under the screen, as in TFT screens, but on the side of the display surface, such illumination is naturally based decay and minimally flows into the reader’s eyes.

More comfortable reading in the dark is possible even with a brightness level of around 30%.

The lighting evenness is practically perfect. There is no significant glare around the edges of the screen.

Productivity and memory

The “heart” of the reader is already a rich Allwinner A13 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. This processor does not show any supernatural displays, and it is not at all necessary for an electronic book. It's too difficult to work with any text or graphic files. The amount of RAM is still 256 MB, but again, it’s not much at all, but, as it turned out, with the PocketBook 626 Plus you don’t need more. The built-in memory is 4 GB, after upgrading the card, up to 3 GB is available, which can be used to save a large library, and since your books take up a lot of space, you can quickly use the memory card slot and expand the space up to 32 GB.

Reader productivity is high. In the menu and interface everything works smoothly, the delays are minimal. The browser works poorly, you can only read news or weather forecasts, the large E-Ink screen doesn’t allow much more. While there is no need for easy reading, absolutely no problems have been identified here, light formats on FB2 or ePUB are opened as smoothly as possible and without lag, the pages are also smooth. Large PDF and DjVu files open quite a bit faster, for example, a 71 MB PDF opens in 5 seconds, which is quite fast for a file like this.

Menu and interface

PocketBook e-readers will already be familiar with the interface of the book being tested. The core operating system is Linux with a proprietary graphical interface. I was pleased that immediately after connecting to the Internet, the electronic book announced the possibility of a great update, which would immediately attract and install. We are talking about those who are constantly working on the system and detecting shortcomings.

The main working screen looks functional, here you can view the remaining numbers open and remaining stored in the book memory. The lower part has easy access to the library, online store and browser. Above and below are two collapsible menus.

The top menu includes synchronization and dartless measurements, as well as adjusting the screen backlight. The lower set has more add-ons, here you can find all the programs, a dictionary, access to advanced settings, and so on.

The reliability of the library is important for the correspondent. Here it is completely handy and functional. There are many types of file display, sorting of books by authors, genres, formats, as well as the ability to display folders. Having seen the book, you can also select a number of actions from it, view the information, send it to the police, delete it, and so on. Books are opened using two readers - FBReader and Adobe Reader, depending on the file type.

The book includes a Wi-Fi module, which means you can access online services. To purchase books, there is the BookLand company store, which we learned about in one glance, the selection of books is great, the prices are on par with Paper books, and they are attractive. A full-fledged browser is also installed.

For work with images there is a gallery, as well as a Scribble add-on that allows you to draw pictures.

The availability of dictionaries is important for rich koristuvachs. In this regard, the PocketBook 626 Plus does not disappoint. A package of ABBYY Lingvo dictionaries (Russian, English, Ukrainian), Korolyov's English-Russian Dictionary and Websters 1913 Dictionary are installed right away. The translation works both with programs and directly with the text when reading, even manually.

The adjustment of books is wide. Personalization of buttons is also available, so if you don’t care about assigning buttons to their settings, they can easily be reassigned.

reading room

Now, let's move on to the main function of the reader - reading. As I already knew, there are two add-ons for this - FBReader or Adobe Reader. The basic settings can be seen in the application of the first add-on and in the ePUB file format.

When reading the main menu, click on it by tapping in the center of the screen. It is also divided into two parts, the first step is to move to the place, bookmarks and notes, as well as a quick search for the text and setting a bookmark.

The lower menu provides more extensive and meaningful settings. You can change the font, set it to text, read more, adjust the space between rows or at the edge of the page, turn on or turn off text transfer, select screen orientation or make notes ku according to the text.

Access to the dictionary is available directly from the text, for which you need to click on the dictionary icon and see the unknown word, at which your translation will appear. Here you can select between the decals and forward shifts.

Adjustment when reading formats such as PDF or DjVu is much less, but everything is also necessary. The text can be fit to the screen, which is even more important when reading scanned text. The side can also be rotated to a horizontal position, which also makes it easier to read the PDF on a small screen.

Autonomous robot

The reader's autonomy is ensured by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1500 mA * year (3.7 V). Thanks to the energy-saving platforms and reduced consumption of the Carta-screen, you can only pay for the most difficult hours of work. Virobnik claims up to 8,000 pages of non-stop work, but with one caveat, you need to read it without switching on. In practice, with Wi-Fi turned off and with a reading rate of approximately 30%, no more than 2% of the charge per year is consumed when reading. In this way, after reading for 2-3 years, the book will be charged approximately once every 3 years, so that you can achieve good results.

In the pouch

PocketBook 626Plus, Definitely, we can introduce further updates to the popular front. The E-Ink Carta screen may not look revolutionary, but it is brighter, which is important. That’s just the impression that you’re scrounging for something new and currently squandering expensive things. There are no complaints about the design and materials of the case, here, as always, everything is on top. Both in the interface and when reading books separately, no significant delays were noted during the hour. Without personal adjustment when reading, all books are stored in PocketBook, and this is not a problem, fonts, inputs, transfers, everything is changed and adjusted. The downside, perhaps, is the traditionally poor delivery set, although some people use books from PocketBook, until which time they are ready.

Price PocketBook 626Plus Currently it is 10,790 rubles. There is plenty to do, but having caught up with competitors, it is clear that all readers with similar functionality cost around 10,000 rubles, so the price can be justified.

pros:

  • Bright E-Ink Carta screen with variable backlight;
  • Good body materials and assembly;
  • Support for a large number of text formats;
  • Triumphant hour of autonomous robots.

cons:

  • Modest package.

Behind the hidden enemies from Wikoristan e-book PocketBook 626Plus the city of the city i2HARD.

Hello everyone!

Today I will talk about the electronic reader, and not just a simple one, but a unique one. Because the number of editions is limited to 1,000 pieces. Soon this lot will be sold out, and buying it will not be so easy (as it is possible). The model has settled in the pockets of collectors and special connoisseurs.

As you already noticed from the photo above, we are talking about the readers of the PocketBook company. She entered the reader market in 2007. And in 2017, no matter how hard it is, it means ten years of activity. In honor of this initiative - ten years of success in the reader market - PocketBook has released the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold model in a limited edition.

It so happened that for the past ten years I have been using PocketBook products. I started with the legendary PocketBook 301 model (2008), then I changed it to PocketBook 623 Touch 2 (2013). I have the greatest respect that everything is in order with the reliability of the Pocketbooks - only the offended models have lived through their fates. PocketBook 301 I later gave in to my grandmother, whose reader used to repeat the story. And I handed over the PocketBook 623 Touch 2 to my mother, who is using this dossi reader. Grandma then took out the PocketBook 612 Basic reader - and now runs the fourth river without fail. They don’t care about those grandmothers under 80 years old, and they can sometimes let the reader in with three hands. The process of its operation cannot be called gentle and neat, but rather from the military minds. Axis, before speaking, my grandmother, from the literary collection from the pocketbook:

How long am I going to spread this “Santa Barbara” thing here? So just to show that “Pocket” has everything going for it with brilliance, reliability, and friendliness. And I especially don’t want any sense to be amazed at the readers of other brands. It’s great that it’s not just me who has such respect, but also millions of other Russians. Because PocketBook has been present in the market for ten years, including the first place in e-reader sales in Russia. The company controls perhaps three-quarters of the market - almost 70%. And it is also included in their products - otherwise, is it possible that they will not be given a standard one-year guarantee, like all other printers, but even two-year guarantees on the readers? And when purchasing in a company online store - there are three life-long company guarantees.

So, about the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold. This model can be called completely new. PocketBook 626 Plus was released in 2015. However, you must understand that the “life cycle” (read - the term of relevance) is much longer on a reader than on a smartphone or, for example, a laptop. These devices get old after a while, and remain irrelevant in two to two and a half years. Readers on the right: as I wrote above, they can be exploited five times - and you won’t be able to deal with your tasks any worse. Well, yes, the battery capacity may decrease. And the reader will work without recharging not for a month, but for two or three weeks. It's incredible, it's a terrible tragedy! In short, it seems, what is the price: the 2015 model of the PocketBook 626 Plus is no longer relevant at the end of 2017. It’s just that readers become much more outdated than other types of gadgets.

The PocketBook 626 Plus is currently available in black, gray and white. At the end of 2016, the red version went on sale. The color is completely avoided with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Product (RED), which were released several months ago. So PocketBook transferred the trend to the red color, which began to develop with the advent of iPhones. And at the end of 2017, the golden PocketBook 626 Plus was released, the same one I added. The price of the exclusive modification, up to the point, is the same as for other color versions, and itself is 9,900 rubles. Pictured below is a selection of all the options for the PocketBook 626 Plus.

Where should we start the conversation? Melodiously, from the design, the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold stands out from all previous versions. As you have already realized, the model was made golden. Moreover, the color was chosen even further. The display is approximately the same as that of flagship Samsung smartphones. It’s so golden-bustard, very welcoming and not at all vulgar.

For understanding: the golden color is not in trend, but not all producers are strong in color (that is, in the correct selection of shades). For example, Samsung, Xiaomi and PocketBook are much stronger. In the photo below - PocketBook 626 Plus Gold is paired with Xiaomi Mi A1.

There is a soft-touch (read - a soft plastic device that accepts a small amount of plastic) on both the front and back panels of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold. Overall, the reader looks very beautiful and noble. Since the average reader is a more utilitarian thing, less of an image, then the hero of this material is entirely dependent on image and image issues.

Particularly noticeable is the increase in the vigor of the collection. Pocketbooks have always had problems with it, and the same PocketBook 623 Touch 2 sometimes squeaked when pressed with fingers. PocketBook 626 Plus Gold has such problems every day, as the class - the device seems to be practically monolithic.

The ergonomics of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold are perfect. Let me say that the model has two control systems. The first is the touch screen, the other is the keys on the front panel. It’s very manual: you can use either the display or the buttons. Or combine both methods. Before I speak, I’ll just start ringing the combination. Sometimes I scroll through pages by tapping on the screen, and sometimes by using buttons. The buttons, to say the least, have a bulging shape for the fingertip.

The functions of the buttons can be reconfigured by setting the functions to short and long presses.

On the back panel there is a ledge traditional for pocketbooks - your finger presses into it when you remove the reader from the vase. The reader practically does not stick to this stop.

Before speaking, it is important to read the reader 208 m Very little for the 6-inch model. Readers that are similar in size to 220-240 m Even with less space, it is more comfortable to hold the devices on the vase in an upturned hand during the hour of reading. With the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold, I can easily read without a pause for two or three years, and my hand practically does not need to work.

On the bottom edge there is a power/sleep button, a slot for MicroSD and MicroUSB cards.

What's great: we're talking about the fact that the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold works with flash drives up to 32 GB. However, in fact, my reader calmly recognized the 64 GB card.

True, I don’t think it’s worth buying such a large flash drive for a Varto pocketbook. On the right, the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold has 8 GB of internal memory, of which less than 7 GB is available.

Why spend at least thousands on 5 books? It seems to me that I have been waiting for this for the rest of my life. However, if you plan to download, for example, multi-megabyte PDF files on the reader, then a flash card may come in handy. You could also save music on MicroSD, but... Unfortunately, there is no player in the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold. This function is now available on all readers, including a couple of flagship PocketBook models - 631 Plus and 631 Touch HD.

A small, but still important moment. From the beginning, the PocketBook 626 Plus model was equipped with 4 GB of internal memory - this was the standard for the 2015 and early 2016 models. If you plan to buy a new “old” copy, then check this point. It’s clear that 4 GB should be hummed, or better yet, it’s important to look for the 8 GB option.

The screen of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold is single - don’t forget to set it to 1024 x 758, and not four hundred and forty x 1072, like the more sophisticated PocketBook models of the 631 series. Honestly, I think I don’t really care. Then the difference between 800 x 600 and 1024 x 758 is noticeable, but the axis between 1024 x 758 and +1448 x 1072 is no longer significant. I wish, perhaps, that I could calm myself down (smiley).

Display technology PocketBook 626 Plus Gold - E Ink Carta. To the very last generation. Due to visual power, such screens practically do not differ from a good clear paper. Not primarily newspaper, but rather magazine. The letters look clear, the background is white, there are no unpleasant artifacts on the front side of the new one. In the photo below, the screen of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold with the most expensive book in which you can draw a yellow paper is done.

As I already said, the screen of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold is a multi-touch one. It’s even more sensitive, and the pressure is generated accurately - as soon as you click on any other element of the interface, the reader understands that you wanted to push on it yourself.

In PocketBook 626 Plus Gold there is a screen lighting system. Light - white. This point requires clarification, since the remaining time there have been readers with the option of adjusting the color temperature - for example, the same flagship PocketBook 631 Plus. There you can lightly adjust - work on zhovtim or put on orange, which will relax the visual apparatus. Just like that, the trick is cool and handy, but the pocketbook with it costs close to 13 thousand. Tse beyond the boundaries of the budget.

In any case, I’ll remind you that the backlighting in E Ink displays works as usual: it lights up the matrix on the side and doesn’t shine in the reader’s eyes. Don't beat them - and don't fight them. With smartphones and tablets, everything is different - there is a lighting system in an invisible part of the display, and the light shines directly into your eyes. Why do the rest of the Swedes get tired and then fuss.

As far as the functionality of the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold is concerned, you can count on the availability of an MP3 player for music and audiobooks, which I will gain even more. Alas, it’s good, smut, that the reader creates e-books without problems. Let me start from the fact that it supports 18 file formats, including DOC, FB2, DJVU and a number of others that are completely ignored by other publishers (Kobo and Amazon, I send you my best regards!). After all, why should we marvel here? Other publishers are focusing their readers on the markets of the USA and Canada, where everyone has long been willing to pay for electronic literature. Here, in Russia, there may be “digital communism”, and books will all be downloaded without cost. And the books themselves can be in absolutely any format - as it amazes the one who brought them to Merezha. It is also important that the reader is 100% universal. Pocketbooks are just like that.

PocketBook 626 Plus Gold has Wi-Fi and a whole range of methods for acquiring books without drones, including purchasing in the Bookland.net store, sending books to the reader via email and acquiring via Dropbox. I'm interested in the remaining option, which I'll describe. We register an account on Dropbox, since you don’t have anything else, install the add-on for this terrible service on your computer, enter the cloud account information in the pocketbook, and ... Vlasna, that’s it: we throw the book into the folder on the computer ...

And through the hvylina, it will already jump into the reader. It’s really amazing - words can’t describe it.

Adjusted as the reader itself, it will appear on the new text simply in bulk - I won’t overdo them. I respect those who bring the perfectionist into madness and adjust the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold (as well as any other pocketbook) for yourself 100%.

The reader works very quickly, so let’s talk to us about the optimization of the firmware. What is logical: in two days they climbed up to speed, overcame all the “children’s” ailments and corrected all the bugs. This, before speaking, is another argument for the worth of the PocketBook 626 Plus. As a matter of fact, all new pocketbooks have no serious glitches (I speak on the basis of my serious knowledge of the connection with devices of this brand), and yet. The older the model, the more stable its firmware. The last update for PocketBook 626 Plus, until the end of the day.

Because it seems especially important to me, I will note the coming moments. First: user-friendliness of the interface. Have you used an Android tablet or smartphone? This means that in half a kick you will master PocketBook 626 Plus Gold. Behind the logic and architecture, the reader interface resembles Android, while in Pocketbooks a completely different operating system is used - Linux.

Another important point is dictionaries. We have several of them (two English-Russian, German-Russian and Webster's American Dictionary of English Language), but others can be installed. For example, I downloaded from the PocketBook website and installed Dahl’s dictionary.

Dictionaries follow the following principle: you squeeze the same word on the screen - and you can immediately “punch” it into any of the dictionaries. І otrimati translation or translation.

Another important point for me is the availability of toys in the “hour beater” class. Sometimes I travel on trains, and they are more expensive until I get to the compartment. There are no sockets in the carriages. This way you can save your smartphone’s battery charge. And reading from the reader, it happens, it gets boring. However, you can hand over the original pocketbook and here - in the new one there is a bunch of previously installed toys. This includes the classic solitaire game “Kosinka”. I subscribed to the new one back in school, just after Windows 98. This includes the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold.

Well, the package has a couple of points. It’s simple: the cable (to the point, no matter what, it won’t fray over time), short instructions and a warranty. The living block was not installed, although it was not needed. Readers with E Ink screens work in mid-month for two to three years of reading per day with a candle, so they can be charged while downloading books via a cable from the computer. Having secured the book, what did you do for 5 - and you have a couple of busy days of work.

Everything is fun, guaranteed. Two rocks - it’s so easy to buy a PocketBook reader, even if it wasn’t in any store. The company also has a company online store. If you buy there, then give three guarantees. It’s disgusting, doctors, that the reader should call alive at the koristuvach’s table or even better. It turns out that throughout the entire term, the service will be guaranteed.

And one more thing. As it turns out, PocketBook has a proprietary line of accessories. I added a cover like this to myself - it is, needless to say, neat and handy. Thus, E Ink screens are no longer as trendy as those of the first readers from 2007-2008. However, I do not recommend carrying e-readers in bags or backpacks with other hard objects without a cover.

Let me assume: everything has been said. PocketBook 626 Plus Gold is an upper-mid-class e-reader, so for 9,900 rubles you get a screen of the latest generation (E Ink Carta), the ability to touch controls, thoughtful ergonomics, support for 18 book formats, a company guarantee for 2 or point at 3 rocks. This is a lot, but not all: the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold does not have a player or a “color” backlight. For these functions - up to the latest flagship PocketBook 631 Plus, which went on sale at the end of leaf fall 2017 at a price of 12,900 rubles. Then wine is noticeably more expensive. That's why I didn't buy anything. I took the PocketBook 626 Plus Gold - and removed not only all those functions that are less needed, but also to make it look like a real exclusive. And I'm guessing the batch of golden readers doesn't exceed 1,000 pieces. Well, I’ll sell it in five years for a lot of pennies as a collectible item and buy myself a part in the PocketBook company (zhart).

Reader Pocketbook 626 - updated version of the popular model Pocketbook 623 (Touch 2). This reader was the first Pocketbook reading device with a backlit screen, which allows you to read in the dark without any external lighting. Due to such advantages as support for all formats of electronic texts, a clear screen with backlights and a different design, the Pocketbook 623 (Touch 2) model has become one of their sales leaders. new Pocketbook 626- continuation of the series of branded readers. The novelty was renewed, it was thoroughly refined, it became more subtle. As before, the traditional advantages are preserved - multi-format, easy-to-use touch and button controls, wide software capabilities. From our point of view, we can see how far the reader has been updated, which replaces the Pocketbook 623, and also aligns the new “sacred” reader with popular analogue models from other manufacturers.

Features of Pocketbook 623

The new Pocketbook 626 reader is upgraded from the 623 low model. The new device is slightly thinner than the front one, and includes updated design of the body and buttons. A larger battery is installed (1500 mAg versus 1000 mAg for model 623). The screen of the new product is the same, and the backlight is brighter and whiter. Let's say more about this. In addition, the speed of the device has increased, perhaps due to the increase in RAM to 256 MB (the 623 model had 128 MB) and the processor frequency (from 800 MHz to 1 GHz).

The main difference is that the Pocketbook 626 does not have an MP3 player and a headphone output, which means it is not possible to listen to music and send text using the additional Text-to-Speech function. However, it is impossible to say that on the previous model the player and voice functions were no longer implemented. The E-ink screen did not allow the player to comfortably navigate the player, and Text-to-Speech worked far from ideally - the text was read by a robot that always correctly selected intonation and put in voices. These functions were rarely used by the old ones, so we wouldn’t bother with their availability on the new Pocketbook 626.

Design and equipment

At first glance, the new Pocketbook 626 model practically does not stand out from the front, but upon closer inspection you can notice the changed thickness of the body, changes in the design of the buttons, a special recess on the back panel, where the fingers when you hold the reader in your hands. The new reader hasn't gotten any easier. It is necessary to place the virus in alignment with the spacer by 10 grams. Perhaps this means replacing the battery with a larger one. However, 208 grams, which is important for the reader, is entirely standard - the reader does not seem important.

The reader can be purchased in two body colors: dark gray and white. Rear panel Pocketbook 626 in any colorful version it will be black. There are buttons under the screen: “Go Home”, “Scroll Back”, “Scroll Forward”, “Adjust”. At the bottom there is a power button, a slot for a memory card and a micro-USB port, through which a reader connects to a computer for charging and storing books. The Viconium body is made of matte plastic, and the back panel is covered with a soft-touch material. The device, traditionally for Pocketbook, is well put together, looks even intact, there are no creaks and gaps in general.

In addition to the form factor, there are no savings, but there is only one claim from our side - it is subjective. We think that the flight buttons should be placed on the sides of the screen, and not below it. The large keys on the side of the keyboard are more grippy, making the reader feel more secure in your hands. For a little bit, Pocketbook is preparing an electronic reader with push buttons, Ale termini yogo appeared on sale yet unknown. However, on the Pocketbook 626, no one can handle the possibility of working on an additional touch screen. You can use short taps or swipe your finger across the display - whichever suits you best.

In addition to the reader, the package includes only a micro-USB cable. It is used for storing books and charging the reader on your computer. The package does not include a cover or a charging device connected to an electrical outlet. In our opinion, it is very difficult to add a cover, since the screen of the reader is fragile and it is necessary to protect it from damage behind an additional cover. Charging in between is not so necessary, as the device can be charged using a charger for a smartphone or tablet.

alternatives

As an alternative option when choosing a reader with similar characteristics, we see two models. First alternative - American reader Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2013 . This reader also has a touch screen and a backlight. The advantage over the Pocketbook 626 is greater brightness, slightly better contrast (the device has a larger new E-ink Carta screen), higher performance speed, and a lower price (by about 1000 rubles). Disadvantages - English language interface and support for all three formats. Sometimes you will have to create it as needed. Pocketbook 626 is a multi-format reader that supports absolutely all formats, which means you don’t need a converter.

Another option to use frequently is the Pocketbook 626 e-reader - e-book Onyx Boox C63ML Magellan . This model is also equipped with a sensor, has backlighting, and supports all formats. Pros - Onyx is equipped with a cover and a charger in addition to the fact that this reader, like the Pocketbook 626 without a case or charger, costs 6990 rubles. There are manual buttons to turn the sides. Then Pocketbook can boast of brilliant images and displays, as well as more user-friendly software. The menu, library organization, and dictionaries are implemented better in the 626 model.

Display and lighting

The new reader shares the same screen as the predecessor Touch 2 (623). The characteristics have not changed: 6-inch diagonal, E ink Pearl HD screen type, 1024 x 758 resolution. Image brightness, which was already terrible on the 623 model, has not changed at all. High contrast, maximum possible whiteness of the screen, clearly updating the pages present, providing one of the most clear options for imitating the original paper.

The same as the previous model had improved lighting. First of all, Pocketbook 626 It’s an order of magnitude brighter, in another way, and it’s disturbing to see a great level of uniformity in places where LEDs are distributed. On the right is that the lighting on all E-ink readers is implemented using additional light-emitting diodes located at the bottom of the display, and the pixels that make up the LCD matrix of tablets and smartphones do not glow evenly iv. The light shines at the end of a special filament, shimmers, and illuminates the screen with even, eye-receptive light. So, in places where people directly touch the screen, you can see an uneven brightness, a kind of “separation” on the screen. Koristuvachy is afraid of this effect, respecting his factory whore. It’s a pity, such are the peculiarities of this technology. However, the Amazon model on the Kindle Paperwhite 2013 model has practically reduced the backlighting due to uneven brightness. And now the Pocketbook on the 626 model has achieved an order of magnitude greater uniformity of light - “separation” is practically invisible when the backlight is on.

In general, the addition of a bright screen and an updated backlight will make the Pocketbook 626 a leader in the picture box among the readers of all other publishers.

Menu

We have already done a report on the reader interface with screenshots. The reader's software does not have any fundamental differences with the reader. And if you update your device to the remaining firmware version, then the software readers will not be different from each other. We will briefly describe the features and apparent usefulness Pocketbook 626 equal to other models.

The main side of the menu is a list of recently opened books. At the bottom of the page there are icons for the menu sections: “Library”, “Store”, “Notes”, “Vibrana”, “Dictionary”, “Add-ons”, “Search”, “Customization”. The most needed section is “Library”. He keeps all the books stored in the device. Not all sellers will buy books in stores. I have divided the “Notes” section into a few titles incorrectly, representing not a program for writing notes, but a collection of quotes from books that you have saved. “Selected” - selected books are marked as they are on a special list for easy access to them. The names of other sections speak for themselves, let’s say about dictionaries and programs.

The “Library” on the Pocketbook 626 model is organized, melodiously, in the most convenient way among all other popular readers. Encouragement and viewing of books through original computer folders is encouraged. On American readers (Amazon and Kobo), as well as popular books, they are displayed in one long list. There, for sorting, you cannot sort folders, but you need to create collections directly through the reader menu, which is much less manual and takes an hour. On Pocketbook 626, instead of “Libraries”, you can view, sort, filter in any way you like: show books from internal memory or only from a flash drive, select by date added or by authors and genres, display only names and books or show reporting information about the photo. ..possibilities masa! The organization of the library on Pocketbook readers is an absolute advantage over competitors.

Once the books are secured and sorted into folders, you can start reading. You need to find the book in the “Library” and open it with the simple pressure of your finger. If you open a book once, you won’t have to joke again - it will appear in the list of recently opened books on the main page of the menu. Once you have opened the book, you can adjust the size of the letters. For this purpose, use the “multi-touch” gesture, so that you can spread your fingers to the sides to increase the font size or to change it on a tablet or smartphone. When the book is open, press the center of the screen (or the physical button for setting up right-handed), the setup menu will appear, through which you can change other text parameters: rotate the image, start working with a dictionary, notation, change the line spacing stand up, margins and reshaping the text.

To go back to the Home page, you need to press the leftmost button. The pages can be used not only with buttons, but also with a touch screen like on a tablet or smartphone. interface Pocketbook 626 It provides you with a wealth of training and management capabilities, allowing you to fine-tune this reader and work with it in the way that suits you.

format

With a device such as an electronic reader, functionality often means the availability of wide possibilities for working with text, as well as various formats in which books are published on the Internet. In this regard, Pocketbook 626 is a very functional reader, as it supports all formats of e-books. List of values: PDF, PDF (DRM), EPUB, EPUB (DRM), DJVU, FB2, FB2.ZIP, DOC, DOCX, RTF, PRC, TCR, TXT, CHM, HTM, HTML, MOBI, ACSM. Among them you can see the main formats that are most often found in online libraries - EPUB, FB2 and MOBI. Often on sites it is advisable to download FB2.ZIP, or, at the top of the list, they choose poketbooks for their ability to read “Word” formats DOC, DOCX, RTF, which sometimes also contain books, and, more often, documents. INODIK KORISNA PIDRIMMA DJVU I PDF, I did not recommend Vikoristovati Formati for the 6 -inch RIDERI Mi b - Ekran is a place of Malii I tsi the files in the dust of the other scale, not allowing regulatory rosema font.

Additional functions

The concept of a “functional device” in a reader does not at all mean that the device has a variety of functions and capabilities. A reader with an E-ink screen is a highly specialized gadget that is designed only for reading and does not allow, for example, watching videos, comfortably accessing the Internet or editing documents.

Good reading, Pocketbook 626 allows you to use dictionaries. You can translate other words when reading the text using a foreign language. Press your finger on an unknown word in the text - you remove the translation from the merge window. You can also type a word for translation into the dictionary using an additional virtual keyboard. The reader has already installed an English-Russian dictionary. Other dictionaries can be purchased from a company library and installed additionally.

On the Pocketbook 626 there is a browser - you can connect to Wi-Fi and access the Internet, but browsing sites and downloading books is not very easy - the E-ink screen completely updates the images, allows you to view web pages for a long time, and thus characteristically blinks.

The "Add-ons" section has a calendar, a calculator, and also a selection of games: Kosinka, Sudoku, Checks. The ability to captivate and re-look at photographs in black and white. However, all this additional functionality (possibly in addition to dictionaries) is added to the e-reader, which is called just for show, and is much less manually needed than reading books.

The main way to download books to Pocketbook 626 is by connecting via a USB cable to a computer and simply copying files to the reader, which appears as either a hard drive or a USB flash drive. However, the dartless method has recently become increasingly popular.

firmware update

New products from the company Pocketbook sometimes go on sale with insufficiently developed software. This is reflected in the actions of the “divatstva” of robots. For example, readers freeze, the touch screen reacts poorly to pressure, the reader screws up too much, etc. Don’t panic because your new e-reader is doing amazingly well. Such problems can be resolved by upgrading the software to the previous version. U vipadku z Pocketbook 626 It's easier to earn money via Wi-Fi. Go to “Settings”, then select “Information about the device”\u003e “Software software”\u003e “Update software”. The reader prompts you to connect to the Wi-Fi network (Screenshot Div.) and check whether new firmware is available. Then the device will power up if you want to update the firmware, download the new firmware and install it. The reader will be re-engaged and will be ready before work.

It seems that if you do not notice any problems with the software and the e-reader works correctly, then you do not have to update the firmware. The reader is not a computer, and updating the software does not mean installing more advanced software. In other words, flashing the firmware will not give the reader fundamentally new functions and capabilities. This is done only to improve the stability of the software.

visnovki

As a result, Pocketbook has a very good reader, which eliminates obvious shortcomings. Although they come with a minimal set, other similar models (as a matter of fact, Onyx Boox C63ML Magellan) also do not come with a cover and charging unit. We summarized all the advantages and disadvantages of the model as follows:

cons:

  • a little bit of the "simple" version of the firmware in the first batches (corrected by updating the software);
  • the throat buttons are located under the screen, and not on the sides;
  • The price is higher, lower in American readers with support - Kindle and Nook.

pros:

  • Removable screen and advanced, brighter illumination;
  • manual control (linked to buttons and touch screen);
  • good organization of the library (support of folders, rich sorting capabilities);
  • customization of all reader parameters;
  • support for all formats of e-books;
  • the possibility of drone-free acquisition of books via Wi-Fi;
  • dictionaries were created.

The new series with such readers as Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2013 and Kobo Aura HD demonstrates better image clarity and built-in backlighting for today. Pocket's advantages over competitors lie in its support for all formats of e-books and a more manual menu interface. Due to the totality of parameters, the new reader is one of the shortest options when choosing a daily and reliable electronic reader with a built-in screen back-up.

At the right time, the appearance of reading devices based on electronic ink gave reading lovers something that they clearly did not have - the ability to read in the minds of filthy illumination or sunk in complete darkness. One of these first book “swallows” that may be highlighted is the PocketBook Touch 2 model. This model is still popular and is selling poorly, but there are also a number of shortcomings. I tried to edit it in the reader, PocketBook 626.

Design

The external appearance of this model differs little from its predecessor, although if you want to change it, otherwise they become visible if the reader is offended to lie in front of the eye. There are two options for the body finish: white and dark grey.

The body has become thinner by 2 mm, with which the gadget has been added to the vase, due to the installation of a larger battery below the front. There was a light diode on the front part, which sometimes “damaged” the eyes, especially when reading in the dark (although it could have been turned on in settings). Now you can find it on the on/off key, which, as previously, was located on the bottom end in combination with a micro-USB connector and a slot for a memory card in microSD format.

There are a few minor improvements compared to the old model. PocketBook 626 has two small holes on the top end, perhaps for securing the book in a branded case. Trimming the book has become even more handy. There is a small notch in the lower part, so you can put your fingers there to trim the device with both hands.

Well, still, a completely insignificant change has occurred in the hardware keys - different little things have been applied to them.

hardware filling

The speed code for PocketBook 626 is provided by a processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz and 256 MB. operative memory. This connection is correct and there are no problems with opening or reading large PDF files.

To save content, 4 GB have been transferred. memory, about 1 GB. Of these, they are added to system files. If necessary, the memory can be increased using an additional microSD card with a capacity of up to 32 GB.

In general, no complaints were identified in terms of work or speed code. The device worked clearly, smoothly and seamlessly.

screen

The reader is equipped with a 6-inch Pearl HD E-Ink touch screen with a separate size of 1024x758 pixels and a pixel density of 212 ppi. and a touch of 16 shades of gray color. On the one hand, the technical features are in no way different from the previous models, on the other hand, they are different, and the stench is even more serious. The stench of the candle itself is really annoying. There are a lot of better parameters here. The first thing that catches your eye is that it has become brighter and bigger, which makes it more welcoming. Another thing, and most importantly, it became more even, there was darkness in the lower part of the screen, and the LEDs were washed out. More precisely, the screens of the two readers can be aligned in the photographs below. Before speaking, lighting can be used not only in poor light conditions, but also in normal light conditions. Let's make the screen even brighter, which makes reading comfortable with minimal disturbance to the eyes.

PocketBook 626 and PocketBook Touch 2

Software interface and robot

The work desk and menu design became too much of a hassle. The interface, like in the previous model, is perfectly optimized for touch sensors. At the top of the display is a list of previously closed books, which can be viewed by simply scrolling down the display. If necessary, an unnecessary book can be removed from the list.

At the bottom of the desktop there are icons for the main menu: library, store, notes, favorites, dictionary, add-ons, search, settings.

The “Library” section, as the name suggests, gives access to books installed on the reader. With this, you can customize the display of files and folders to your liking.

With other menu items, everything is intuitively understandable and there is no point in mentioning them again and again. I would like to see the “Add-ons” menu in more detail.

The reader we described today has the ability to connect to the Internet using the included Wi-Fi module. It would seem that there is nothing unexpected in this, and now a lot of readers are looming in Merezh. Moreover, for rich people, accessing the Internet on devices with E-Ink is not easy. PocketBook solved this problem and provided a new set of useful add-ons.

The pocketbook sync add-on synchronizes the ereader with the bookland bookstore and allows you to download purchased books directly to the device. Dropbox is a client of the same gloomy monster. It’s a great addition to ReadRate - it allows you to recommend a book to your friends right in the reading mode and publish your review about it on social media.

The reinstalled dictionaries and simple arcade games were nowhere to be found, and the mp3 player's axis was lost.

reading room

The large number of supported formats has always been the strength of the PocketBook company. Over the years, its versatility has increased. PocketBook 626 is familiar with all the most common and popular formats. The full list of supported formats is as follows: EPUB DRM, EPUB, PDF DRM, PDF, FB2, FB2.ZIP, TXT, DJVU, HTML, DOC, DOCX, RTF, CHM, TCR, PRC (MOBI), including JPEG graphic formats, BMP, PNG, TIFF.

As a PocketBook reader, the new product boasts even more extensive settings in the book reading mode. You can select the font, its size, enlarge or change the inter-row spacing, enter between sides, move between sides, search from bottom to bottom, save bookmarks and play notes, change orientation y screen, set the page update mode, a robot with wines has been implemented.

battery

The strong point of all E-Ink-based readers is their low power consumption, since the main battery drain occurs when the image on the screen is updated. In PocketBook 626, the battery capacity, equaled with Touch 2, has increased and becomes 1500 mAg. If you read with the switches on for 2-3 years a day, but do not bother with any dartless connections to Merezha, then you can forget about recharging for about a month.

visnovki

In our opinion, PocketBook 626 can be called, at least, one of the best e-readers today. Some parts of the previous model have been corrected. The implementation of support has reached a different, more clear level. A larger battery adds autonomy. A stronger processor and twice the amount of RAM allows the device to process more resource-intensive files.

pros:

Bright screen, with polished backlight;

Long lasting battery;

The hardware part is tight;

Mitsny and Yakisny building;

No supported formats;

cons:

The duration of the cover;

Smudged body;

Type of audio player;
