EndNote Online – a tool for working with bibliography
Members of Web of Science have free access to another resource called EndNote Online. This tool allows you, directly from the Web of Science interface, to save your portfolio of publications that the author plans to send to his work, and then select a template for designing an article bibliography of that type. Identification of scientific organizations and authors using ResearcherID
Citation indicators can be analyzed by both organizations and individual authors. But here comes the point: how to evaluate the publication activity and citations, whether the organization and the author may be differently represented in different journals and in different publications? This is a common problem with all abstract databases, and the skin's leaders behave in their own way.
The established profiles of the organization have two stages: computer algorithms carry out the first sorting of options for writing the names of institutes and universities, and the main work is carried out by living people in order to prevent algorithmic selections. To create profiles of organizations in Russia and the CIS countries, representatives of Clarivate Analytics work directly with representatives of the organization and carefully check the spelling variations of their names. On the one hand, there is an uneasy mixture of two different organizations (for example, the Kazan Technical and Kazan Technological University or the Institute of System Research and the Institute of System Analysis), and on the other hand, The key is the ability to manipulate numbers from within the organization itself.
At the time of writing this article, the Web of Science Core Collection has created profiles of over 600 Russian organizations, and the company continues to work on the creation of new ones.

Regarding the profiles of authors, the situation is very complex, since the number of authors in the world is orders of magnitude greater than the number of organizations. A computer algorithm clusters authors on the basis of names and initials, subject areas in which they work, their organizational affiliations, job roles and other parameters.
However, the sub-clusters may still not be able to fully display the real volume of publications, which is worth mentioning, and here another cost-free addition to the Web of Science will come to the rescue, accessible to prepayers of the system, so be it to our correspondent, - ResearcherID.
With this system, any author can register and enter his unique number, and then add a list of his works directly from the Web of Science interface. In about an hour, the author's publication cluster in Web of Science will match his set of documents with ResearcherID, and a search will be possible for both the author's name and his unique ResearcherID identifier.
Russian Science Citation Index database
It’s time to search the Russian Science Citation Index database on the Web of Science platform. This is a major project of Clarivate Analytics and the eLibrary company, operator of the Russian Science Citation Index. As part of the project, a database of 770 of the most authoritative Russian scientific publications was formed, selected on the basis of bibliometric and expert assessment.
According to representatives of Clarivate Analytics, the database has two purposes. First of all, Russian science can be assessed with a more representative sample. Out of more than 20,000 publications that are indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, there are 325 Russian ones. Thus, the amount of Russian periodicals for analysis exceeds the level of 1000 journals. In another way, the database allows Russian scientific results to pass beyond the border, and the audience of Web of Science contributors around the world reaches over 20 million people.
At the moment, the national prepayment database is not included, and Russian organizations subscribe to it individually.
Web of Science Core Collection and Russian Science Citation Index – these are two different databases, but if you have access to them, both searches can be searched at the same time. Another notable feature: for any document, the Web of Science platform provides a citation from the middle of the same database, as long as it is available, and then further shows its citation from other databases. This allows, for example, to wonder who quotes documents from foreigners that are not indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index.
Journal Citation Reports database and journal impact factor
It is impossible not to mention another system for authors - the Journal Citation Reports database. It includes data from a comprehensive analysis of Clarivate Analytics experts on journal citations, which provides the largest indicator of the importance of a scientific journal - its impact factor.
In the summer of 2018, this year will not be included until the national prepayment, but dozens of scientific organizations in Russia will subscribe to it independently.
It allows you to filter journals by subject area, which you can click to understand how a journal ranks among similar publications based on impact factor values. Also from this background it is possible to analyze evidence to find citations on the publication of a particular type. By subscribing to Journal Citation Reports, the Web of Science Core Collection search viewer also allows you to view the impact factors of journals and where they stand in their subject area. The final result displays the least significant quartile of the journal in terms of impact factor, which, in short, is a slightly rough, but more universal metric of its authority and significance.
